Is she that cow in SFxT with chainsaws for arms? She can fuck right off.

It's kinda weird going into a game that's got so much in common with a game I know inside-out but at the same time has so many differences that I can barely tell what's going on. There are so many matchups where I can be gimmicked right out before I even begin to realise what's going on.

I read Joffo's anecdote to myself in the style of Les Dawson, it was very funny - 8/10. Joffles, g'wan sign up your soul to my awful Metal Gear party - I'm struggling to persuade people it's not a scam and need all the sign-ups I can get to assure maximum PR tat delivery.

edit: also, where can we watch the Imp vs. Joffo stream?

My favourite SFxT gimmick at the moment is holding a yoga blast until the opponent jumps into it expecting a yoga flame. So much fun.

Mostly though I keep forgetting how much extra recovery there is on Dhalsim's moves compared to SFIV and just get jumped on constantly.

Who wants to play SFxT with me? I will try to be around before midnight :/

GGs sirs! The best thing I did today was getting imp down to almost chippable health, then taunting from about 2/3rds across the screen. He walked up to me for the throw. He ate EX upkicks instead.

That was after a foul win streak, though.

He also correctly predicted that I would pick DeeJay, but not really.

Did I also correctly surmise you were listening in when Alistarr asked me to pick Bipson?

GGs indeed to all sirs from the earlier lobby. I was happy I impressed Joffo with my combos and wild idiocy with Adon.

Also Jellum! I managed to beat Donut's Guile at least once. Only once I think.

I had the volume turned up extra loud because I was trying to make sense of a voice message I received from 'A Stoned Nokia' after we did battle in Ranked earlier. He did indeed sound quite stoned - I think he was trying to say that he would've said GGs back to me, but T Hawk isn't his main, so it wasn't really (he won).

He also suggested that we do a FT5 and put it up on youtube later? Strange lad.

Good games to all the sirs earlier; imp did indeed but out some lovely links with Adon, something like crouching light punch, standing medium kick, crouching light punch into jaguar nonsense? And once the links into Super. It was all lovely. Donut did a lovely focus absorb dash forward ultra thing with Balrog that was too fast for me to see; it upset me that he got Sonica Bewmed out of it after landing the first hit. IgTerminals and I played a bunch of back and forth matches after as well, which were very excellent too; my jump-ins and focus-obsession well and truly punished mega thoroughly. Damn that crouching hard punch of Guile's.

Really fun Rose-Guile set with IgTerminals this eve - wasn't keeping score but it was fairly even I think? Must stop mindlessly cancelling into Soul Spiral, the few times I got the range right were outweighed by the many, many times I ate flash kicks. Also I hate Sonic Hurricane so much, is that just basically free, safe chip damage? I managed to beat it with a Soul Throw gimmick once but otherwise many ouches.

Was exactly even, 8-8. Very fun set, haven't fought much Rose. Yeah was experimenting with Sonic Hurricane, until recently I almost always used Flash Explosion. Was trying to use it to space and lock you down in certain situations, was working rather well. Took me a little while to notice your SS spacing, hence a few attempted punishes that ate punishes of their own. Also don't think I managed to air throw you once, not sure if it Roses jump arc, or your jump timing, but I need to work on that.

I need to work on so many things...

Look forward to rematch.

When I wasn't doing stupid random jump-ins I was trying to anticipate Booms, but they recover so fast it's hard. Seemed like more than half of them ended up as trades. I was mainly using j.hp which has a really good hitbox, with j.hk depending on spacing (badly, of course). Funny that crossup j.mk does a weird air reset on flash kicks.

I've been utterly dreadful with guile recently. A lot of jumping kicks which were intended as flash kicks and dropped links all over the place. It's horrible. Also, I need to learn some more flash kick beating setups to make the match easier for me when I eventually do manage to get in.

Also also, I was forced to watch a Micky Flannigan DVD last night, with the lady. He spent a good 20 minutes at the start talking about how people neither of us were familiar with walk down the street. It was almost a masterfully abstract parody of poor observational comedy, except it wasn't.

I think rufus and ibuki both eat guile once they get in. Rufus kind of has to pretend he's zangief at the start, though, and just resign himself to losing life while he edges forward and occasionally speculates with some kind of jump, which can be demoralising. Divekicks both beat flash kicks in a lot of situations and make them so risky that by the end you often don't even need to worry about them.

I can't imagine you'd want to pick zangief or dan, though :-(

In other news I expect to maybe get to work in time to go home again.

I played this game twice last night, first having fun losing to imp and donut and joffo and watching them play each other, then later playing a few close games against someone trying to learn ibuki. I still can't block ibuki.
