You'd walk in and forget to use the doormat just to hear people say "whose footprints are these?"

And there would be codec ringtones everywhere for maximum geek (says the guy whose text alert is from Vincent's phone in Catherine)

Xbox LIVE, ladies and gentlemen!

I've had rage from that exact same twat.

Pretty sure I have too.

He tried to use 'rog, seeing as I've mained him since SF2, this did NOT end so well to him. I threw him around a bunch with Fei, DeeJay and Yun, then after this message I brought out the Zangriefing.

impVF.jpg

Sodium levels were high last night, apparently Zangief is a 'downback character'. As you might expect, his main was Ryu, and not any good either.

AE really seems to have brought out the chumps from the woodwork.

Spuckuk updated his status: Bought a loofah today but have no idea what to do with it!

Dr0nevil: Down back scrub.

Dr0nevil is in your extended lp SPD range network.

So I played this game last night. I lost lots of matches. Who'd have thought? There was a great Hakan in one of the lobbies called Dr0nevil or something. I was going to send him a message telling him what a great Hakan he has, but then I beat him with my Dhalsim and he left in a big girly huff, before sending me this message:

Quote

be moar random easy mode scrub

Please sir, can I have some moar?

MOAR??!!

I have a tale to tell

So, it's past the drinking hour. Friday night. All was quiet in the house, save for the occasional cackle of a drunken imp, mashing through blockstrings, and the click click clacking of his flatmate playing Mr Torgue's Campaign of Carnage (very funny by the way, two thumbs up and then EXPLODING!)

A lobby was set for two. A man waits, and a man enters. A man with 2800PP to his name. We'll call him Dr0nevil. Ryu is selected by our handsome protagonist, and Rufus by his rival. A match is had, but of very little note. Another begins. Ryu is once again the champion of our sartorially winsome hero, Zangief now the rival's. Another win for our man.

The rival sends his first words

vxdno9.png

Okay, thinks our favoured imp, 'I'll show him and play reeeeeally safe. That should make the terrible internet man think I'm not a douche'. Another rematch, now Ryu vs Guile. The petty rival thinks to teach a lesson. The petty rival does nought but Sonic Booms for the whole round. Our valiant martial artist responds with nothing but Hadoukens. The fight starts to sway in his favour. It seems --oh but it can't! --but it is! Yes, Dr0nevil, or Dr. O. Nevil, is not adept with charge characters. He fails boom after boom, is perfected, and probably more than a little embarrassed. Needless to say, similar events transpire in the next, and he is once again convincingly dispatched by our man. A rematch occurs, the outcome is similar, though this time the rival tries a more direct method of attack. During the match imp tries to catch him with a super during a fireball war, but alas, Guile's recovery renders imp's intoxicant-soaked reflexes too slow to punish, and Guile takes only chip damage. The rival tries to provoke our luminous warrior.

1zvoqp.png

He is successful. Our man switches to Cody. Our rival, Rose. A sound victory. Now comes the turn. Our rival chooses what could be his main. Hakan, 6800BP. It was a difficult fight, a narrow victory, but sound nonetheless.

r7q3nn.png

Comes the fury. Our hero changes to Adon, rival stays with Hakan henceforth. A narrow loss for our hero, his darkest hour. Still, unperturbed, he redoubles his efforts and picks Abel. Again, a narrow, but well-earned victory. Another message of venom and bile

eaic6x.png

Well, there is only one proper way to respond, wouldn't you agree, fellow mukkers?

Random Select.

Cammy. Oh yes. Cammy.

2z8q6a8.png

Random Select again. Ken.

20fp5jt.png

Random Select again. Yang.

Our hero loses.

The rival leaves.

Our hero displays a knowing grin, but has a glint of sadness in his eye. Or was it tiredness?

We'll never know.

He rings a bell for me now too.

I might be on tonight waiting for you SFxT types to give up 2013 after just one day.

Oh, also! I have a Datel stick, minus PCB. Thought I'd mention it in case anyone is after a sturdy arcade stick case. I could even add a set of Seimitsu buttons and a Toodles Cthulhu PCB (PS3/PC compatible) for a bit more money. It's probably going up on fleabay at some point anyway.

Jesus wept there are two (2) women in the flat. I'm hiding in my bedroom, and am unable to play children's video games until they leave

Can't you be all Snoop Dog rather than Snoop Puppy and say 'Ladies I'm here to play a fighting mans game, you can touch me if you want' and take it from there?

Ig ggs dood and to the A star man and Singho, though for some reason I couldn't here Singho on the mic after about half way through, weird.

also Alistarr told us his dirty little secret.

Did he? I think I missed that. What was it?

Getting there with Bison. Like with Zangief, I'm finally getting some wins that aren't just easy stuff against really bad players. Was pleased to see myself nearing 1000PP without using Rose for a while. I might be getting a tiny bit better.

I heart his Ultra 2, reading a fireball is disgusting fun and much easier than reading a jump with U1.

Crossup in the first round, go in front in the second. 60% of the time, it works every time. Then I played Donut who of course did the correct thing and jumped.

Speaking of Donut - hey Donut! I played an American man called AsikkPlayer a few times this week who mains Makoto, and all our matches were close and fun so I friended him. Fairly lag-free so he probably has a hypersonic Google Optic Nerve Fiber connection or something. We should have some lobbies where I can practice against endless Makotos.

Well I ended up having some fun with SFxT last night. Throws being a thing is just hilarious. People don't seem to be used to having to do something about it.

The good players are so very good, though. It's always a case of them doing some wild combo, me taking that as a lesson and trying to compose myself, only to get tagged with a 3rd Strike style poke cancelled into 3bar tag super, destroying me. Also, I very rarely have any meter despite ALL of my Gems being meter gems. I need a rethink there.

Wish the Gas Meter man hadn't come and ruined me and JLM's training room nonsense with Sakura, then further unfortunate incidents drove JLM offline. I wanted more training. :( I really had nothing with her when she comes in post launch. Just doing a simple close medium punch, crouching medium kick x tatsu. It seems like you can do one hit of her Otoshi thing in the air, land first and follow up though. Also, in the corner you can connect standing light kick after EX Shouken, so you can do j.hp, cl.hp x lk.tatsu, cl.hp x lk.tatsu, lk x EX.Shouken, st.lk... something. I've not figured out the something. If a reset dash-under is possible then that would be delicious. The scaling probably means it's not worth wasting a bar to tag someone in during or post EX.Shouken.

I played some strekken last night, when the levels of oestregen in the living room dropped to non-terror levels (0). I even sourly downloaded the dlc, too.

I spent most of the time a-comboin in the "lab". I went with a wild team of guy and paul, and they're both pretty fun. I'm not familiar with what paul could do before the patch, but I think his new combo potential is downright ludicrous. It's really really easy to hitconfirm into wild damage with him, and his tag launcher combos are decent. Everything juggles after hk shredder!

Guy's fun simply because jump cancelling target combo into spinning jump throw is excellent. He can end loads of combos with it, it's great!

I think I like it. I already liked it, it's just not as good as AE and not Marvelly enough to be Marvel. I like the easy chain and auto-launcher things making things simpler for newcomers, but for some reason I just cannot get a proper feel for links in this. Rufus can still do his light kick, hard punch link from AE, but you have to be closer for the close hard punch or you get the far one, which whiffs so it's rarely as viable.

Also, fighting some mans online they had an assist gem immediately active and I couldn't figure out what it was doing; when I hit them air to air they flashed white. What was going on?

Also, I beat a team of two 14,000 BP players, so that was nice. There do seem to be some high BP autopilot players, and only a few people seem to take advantage of the forward+HP+HK "alpha counter" move; totally destroys anyone trying to play AE style Rufus pressure games (me).

I've got a couple of hours free this morning so I've finally got the chance to play a bit of Strek 2.

Profound sadness though, Dhalsim's IA teleport->mk->boost combo no longer works :(

I know it's a wet Thursday morning but if anybody is about for a few rounds, let me know.

EDIT: there are literally no lobbies. Bleh.
