Ultra Street Fighter IV

JLM

That's how -R- plays him, though he also he is Desk-esque in his execution, which I'm sure helps.

I do FFF using a negative edged fierce thunder knuckle, though I never get the cancel after the second fierce so it's not worth it anyway. Also I don't like Viper.

Imp, I'm not going to visit JLM this weekend any more so could probably do our match any time you're around? I can't wait to get dismantled again by your Adon now you've had even more time to learn him.

That's a pity. :( But yes, it will be good to get our matches done. Speaking of which I don't think Sith or myself have shared our last matches' replays yet. HMMM.

I wonder if we should play our matches on the PC Alistarr, if it's not too much trouble for you to switch between regular and AError1 mode. Then I could use some kind of program to record the replays without resorting to a camera or camera phone. And then go to a nice cafe with a reasonably fast internet connection to upload them, because they'd take forever to upload from my house!

You just want to go to a nice cafe. And is it the winner of your fisticuffs that I have to face? I am frightened. I almost forgot to save my matches against Haggio but I went in last night and got them. Whee.

I had a wild Draw Game in ranked last night when fighting Rose as Makoto. It was a trade show.

Whoah, what happens when you get a draw in ranked? Do you both lose points?

But back on topic, it's true I do just want an excuse to go to the nice cafe down the road. When I didn't have internet at home I had to go there and work all day. I felt a bit like a prick, but they do lovely food. My favourite is when they pull out the brunch menu on weekends, and I can devour a 'full spanglish breakfast'. Fried soft chorizo, spanish black pudding, mini portobello mushrooms, eggs scrambled or fried, home made baked beans, and two slices of ciabatta with a light drizzling of oil.

They also do a mean merguez sandwich sometimes, which is just delightful.

I have been assured they also have very nice coffee beans by my coffee obsessed flatmate, but he also said their machines weren't great, so it nullified the point of having good beans. I am a coffee ignoramus though, so I will happily have a nice flat white there.

I think we did both lose points. I should check the replay.

That all sounds delicious. I know very little about coffee but I do very much enjoy it. The ladychum is considering one of those Aerobie press thing I think both Jiro and Cale have. I really want a beautiful espresso machine for the flat, though.

Also, Donut, when I air to air someone with Makoto's j.hp then dash under for Karakusa, is there a reason I often get close standing HK? I do the half circle back relative to the side I'm going to be on after inputting the dash; should I do it the opposite way and rely on the auto-correct?

Workmen outside my house have been trying to start one of their construction vehicles for two hours. It keeps starting for a moment and then cutting out, so it never becomes the monotonous droning noise you eventually tune out, but instead is like some kind of horrible auditory torture. It is the most fucking infuriating fucking thing.

At least Srekken becomes quite good today.

Lads, are any of you aware quite why, exactly, the bloody joystick is on the left instead of the right? I was wilding with viper last night and was having a mare of a time doing her ex seismio jump cancel into U2 from the P2 side. Because I was drunk, I decided to try the execution cross handed, with my right on the stick and left on the buttons, and my execution was immediately better and I hit it like 3 times in a row, on the P2 side, which I found impossible left handed. I guess this makes more sense, since I use a computer mouse in my right hand, which involves more wrist dexterity and stuff. The right hand would be better suited to this anyway, right?

also how difficult would it be to sourly mod a stick so that I could have the stick/buttons the other way around? I would be interested to try it for a bit. I think qanba came up with a stick which could be flipped around, but that only seems to be available for the PS3.

I am left handed and my right hand is largely useless at things requiring significant dexterity. However, the one thing I can do perfectly and actually better with my right hand is use a computer mouse because when I first started using computers with mice they were always on the right and I never thought to move them.

INTERESTING.

I've wondered in the past whether my left handedness handicaps me a bit in FPS games, where most people are using their dominant hand for aiming. Also in more relevant to Streetfighter stuff, I can do piano hands with my left hand but not my right, which isn't much use unless I want to play like a cross handed deviant.

The only game where I change the settings to the left handed mode is Rock Band/Guitar Hero, but only for guitar.

This post gets more fascinating with each edit.

It does seem that arcade sticks are better for people who are left handed, I'd have thought. I mean I messed around cross handed for a bit, and I could do ryu's FADC ultra after a few goes, wheras it took ages of practice to do it with my left hand doing the stick. I still cock up ultra motions when it's two quarter circles anti-clockwise because my stupid left hand always misses the down, or something, which after nearly 2 years on a stick is fucking ludicrous really.

if you turn the stick round and swap he connectors over on the stick you could give it a go like that. The buttons won't be on the optimum curve but it should work. The main issue will be the swaping of the wires on the stick, I think you will need to cut the wires and then add one connector on each individual wire which may need some soldering

This picture may help explain what I mean

See where the black set of wires connects to the mobo and the stick you would need to modify that.

Oh, that's imp up there. Look at imp!

Imp, get this, tonight I am getting a FREE meal at Hawksmoor, since I'm putting a friend up for the night and his firm are paying for us both to have dinner, instead of him stay in a hotel.

I am so excited you cannot imagine.

Oh my god, are you going to wildly order the most wildly expensive wild chateaubriand?

Dhalsim has largely been nerfed yeah, but he'll still be a very strong character. Damage reductions and hit box nerfs here and there, but I think the reduced block stun on the yoga sniper is the biggest as he could use that for cheeky long range switch cancels before.

He has the AE2012 buff where Yoga Blast causes a hard knockdown though, which is particularly good in Strekken because the meterless versions are actually useful.
