Ultra Street Fighter IV

Haggar 5 straw donkey 4

Painfully close, I had to resort to my wretched Vega because I'm so bad against rose with cammy. Of note was a thoroughly undeserved win with hawk via desperation mashed ultra. I'll get the replays saved so someone can upload them.

Joffo! When can you do this?

Yeah - this was really good! Was really salty by the end of it due to all the horrific execution errors and also getting comprehensively out-poked by Vega. After being able to get in on Cammy quite consistently (at risk of eating a Sako Combo), Vega just pressed buttons and those buttons were better than my buttons and then I got quite sad.

A great set overall though - happy to have not got horribly bodied as per my pre-match prediction, but clearly exposed some holes in my game that I need to work on.

A highlight of the randoms we did afterwards was the time where I did walk-up throw.

With Makoto.

Good games to sirs Samuel, Donut and Plopboy. Some wildness abound and great unpredictable shenanigans from Plop's Elf. Nailbitingly close match between his Dan and Donut's Chun near the end too, when Donut whiffed an ultra 2 which was about to fade before Plops walked right into it and the damage lasted forever. Donut used proper better-than-me nonsense to unfairly win our Makoto v Rufus match also.

Also, played my tournament set with Samuel: Joffocakes 5 - 0 Mayor Mike Haggar. It felt closer than the score suggests though, especially when he terrified me by busting out T Hawk in the last match.

Your too kind joffo :) there where some great games there and yes in true Saikyo style I missed an ultra punish and walked into that chun ultra :)

Donut was just being evil, the nasty chip damage for the win man that he is :(

Anyway I played a bit more Yang later and realised my execution really isn't that good and I need to practise more, as shortcuts really don't work that well with the mop haired one. Though in training I did manage an FADC with him, but the best follow up I could manage was a taunt.

I'm also feeling the love for Dan again so I might play a bit more with him.

Does anyone here play SFIV:AE on PC? I do have it on 360 but never get to use "the big telly" because of Coronation Street or kid's programmes.

Alistarr and Nate both have it I think; Alistarr made a post a few pages back about that new wild mod by Error1 which turns the game into a modern equivalent of those pirate SFII cabs you used to see back in the day. It sounds excellent, but not quite spend-all-my-money-on-a-PC excellent yet.

I'm sure there are more PC Street Fighters too.

I was fatting around with some of the more difficult execution stuff last night, after going to watch django unchained (it's really good! why not go and see it with a friend or loved one?). I'm starting to get the hang of seismo chaining with viper. I can do her meterless FADC like one time in ten but the bloody fierce feint fierce is beyond me. Does anyone do FFF with negative edge? Does anyone do it at all? I think that it's the method I have most success with, but I get ex thunder knuckle out loads by mistake. Please someone tell me the magical techniques that you use to do these magical things.

I'm also currently incapable of more than 1 rep of el fuerte's run stop fierce. I assume that getting that down is more a timing/rhythmical thing? I would like to get good at stupid pointless things like this, because I imagine it would increase my "respect" amongst members of the "FGC".

I'm also going to develop a joffo-specific counter pick. Who has the best armour breaking game?

It is a galloping like rhythm, not that I can do it but if you really want the pain go here http://shoryuken.com...nch-loop.62021/ for the gain and be respected by all the manchilds.

Some hands doing it

One day my brain and hands will work together in harmony and that day I will be awesome :)

Played through the PC mod's arcade mode twice, on a pad, before bed last night, swapping characters every time I lost (which was a lot). A few highlights:

Ryu can do tiger knee instant air fireballs. He can also throw lots and lots of fireballs in succession but I only did this once. Ken can air to air DP, has an air throw, has his knee-bash neutral throw back, and his EX Tatsu hits in front, then behind, then in front then behind etc and it appears to be a 50-50 which side of the opponent he lands on.

All of Viper's normal kicks are shrouded in flames. She has a focus attack super (based on Marvel I guess?) that may not even require full Super meter and is a one-hit kill.

Blanka's EX ball is now safe on block, just stops him right next to the opponent. Dudley has a version of Rose's orb Ultra but with a dozen roses. There is some weird thing when you backthrow Bison involving a teleport that I do not quite understand. Dan is excellent.

Best of all, though, is Seth. No special moves, no Ultras, but with mad combos mapped to chained normals. Do cr.MK and if you have meter he'll do cr.MK x EX Boom repeatedly until the meter runs out, then cr.MK x Legs. And if Legs connects and you're not in the corner then he auto-teleports right up next to them. S.MP does s.MP > EX SPD. Close standing fierce makes the opponent spin in place like that Jin glitch in SFXT; if it hits anti-air they sail on up into the sky for a bit.

It is a complete headwreck and utterly fucking brilliant.

I recall reading on the fuerte srk forums that one guy said it took him about 3 months to get 5 reps down pat. I'm not quite sure I have that much free time, but we'll see.

And, honestly, the only way to up execution is in training mode. I probably spend about half my time in there now, and since I've started doing that I've noticed that it's getting a lot better. I'm hitting links and FADCs much more often than about 6 months ago. Repetition and time. It's boring, but it's concinved me that I could one day play a musical instrument, if I ever bothered practicing.

I can play Street Spirit and the Marilyn Manson version of Sweet Dreams. But even then it's just the one section.

I have a lot of baby-boil potatoes at home that I am determined to use. What do I pair them up with to make them delicious without going out of my way to buy a fancy cut of meat? I'll probably just end up unceremoniously dumping some lurpak on them.

Have you ever tried fish fingers? I think they'd be a flavourful delight for your timid, under-developed scotch palette.

I read a review of some Croatian hotel restaurant from some people in macclesfield and they complained that there is very little choice of things to eat for people who like their food plain. It depressed me, actually.

And I might be around for some Street Fighter in a little over an hour. I had intended to either make a start on Bayonetta again or finish Anarchy Reigns, but I've already resigned myself to the fact that neither of those will ever happen.

With Fish Fingers spread a nice layer of marge on top, then grill for some lovely bread crumb sea food lovelyness, ketchup optional but recommended. I like to slap them between some nice slices of white bread with some optional chips.
