Ultra Street Fighter IV

JLM

Recommended Posts

I use hard punch on Y, medium punch on X, hard kick on B, medium kick on X, with the lights on shoulders; L is kick, R is punch. It's a throwback to my SNES setup in SFII Turbo and also what I use when playing on a 360 controller.

On the right hand side of the touch screen I have 3x punches above 3x kicks and the other two touch panels are both taunt, though I might make one throw, because I have trouble throwing using the shoulders.

I have light punch on Y,Hard punch on X, Light kick on B, Hard kick on A and mediums on the shoulders. I have touch screen buttons for 3 punches, 3 kicks and focus attack.Pressing both lights together to tech throws is too ingrained and I couldn't do it on the shoulder buttons, but then pressing both shoulder buttons together in the middle of a combo for FADC is nearly impossible.

My touchscreen has throw top left and focus bottom left, then LP and LK on the right and the four face buttons being the medium and hard attacks. Then the shoulder buttons are KKK and PPP for ultras and EX moves. I'm not convinced it's the perfect setup but it works well enough that I haven't bothered changing it.

Look I've graduated from being utter shite to a bit poo poo, if you can't be bothered it is at about 32 seconds in

to be fair the rest of my game with Chun is still utter pants but I have been practising the cr.LK cr.LK Ex Legs U2 and this is the first time I have had the composure to pull it off in a match.

This was the third game I had had with Mr Bong, he had beaten me with his Ken in the first match, the second match I just managed to edge his Ken with Chun with a lucky dropped combo into ultra. So this was the decider as it where :)

Lots still to learn but slowly I'm getting there and I really need to go back and practise some more of the basics JLM gave me, but at least I have a nice looking punish even it it does bugger all damage, but hey they are the best kind, right?

Oh and I still play Elf, I just can't put down the crazy Mexican :)

That guy has the best name.

That's what I used on SNES too. My mates hated it because I was the only one who didn't use default so I had to keep quitting out to set them, but I never used anything other than fierce or roundhouse back then and it was preferable to have them on the face of the controller.

Thanks for that folks, I'll try those for a run of games later and see if they stick. Except JLM's which sounds insane with mediums on the shoulders.

You would have saved yourself and your friends a lot of time if you'd known that instead of quitting out entirely you could just hold select after choosing your character; after the plane lands on the country flag it would give you a little button config screen. Down down down Y down down down B and yer sorted.

I do realise I am probably 20 years too late with this information.

I couldn't handle trying to do combos starting with lights/jabs on the shoulder buttons as they don't feel precise enough to time it correctly for me. Mediums tend to have less uses per combo, especially when hit confirming.

I mostly practised cr jab -> cr. jab -> standing roundhouse -> EX Machine gun blow with Dudley on the 3DS and I needed all the relevant buttons to be face buttons for it to be of any use.

Maybe having the fierce/roundhouse buttons up there would make more sense, but then I'm used to the right hand face buttons being fierce since thanks to playing fighting games on the Dreamcast and having it like that.

I put on fight request or whatever it's called and played arcade mode for several days before resorting to combo practice. I did get to feel awesome one morning while some kid who must have been a full fifteen years younger than me looked over my shoulder as I strolled through Dudley's trials. Then shortly after that some homeless guy pestered me about if that was one of them new DS things and could he have a go, and I don't know why but I don't think I played much on the bus after that.

OK that makes some sense. If you used pedestrian characters like I do you would need that cr.MK a lot more. That's probably about 40% of my total inputs.

I have finished watching the SCR finals and it was all very exciting anyway and then fucking

Hakan!

against Yun!

I hope there are a lot more Hakans everywhere in future, he's so stupid and brilliant.

I wanted to come up with Java/ Street Fighter puns but I'm not having luck, aside from trying to work "Java" into Adon's special move names.

Quick, something else Street Fighter and Java related... I know, mobile games!

Divekick confirmed for PC, PS3 and Vita. Spring!

CHICAGO – January 22, 2013 –Iron Galaxy Studios is teaming up with One True Game Studios to release Divekick, a unique fighting game available in spring 2013 for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system and PC.

Initially developed as a parody of fighting games by Adam Heart, the Editor-in-Chief of Shoryuken.com, Divekick gained notoriety in the community for its surprising depth and lack of a control stick. Divekick’s two-button controls and precise timing soon made it a staple in competitions. Shortly after its debut to long lines at Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament 8 in May 2012, Heart wanted to bring the game to a wider audience and launched a Kickstarter campaign in June 2012 to finish its PC release. The campaign reached its funding goal in less than one month.

After seeing the success of Divekick’s Kickstarter campaign and the excitement generated at fighting game tournaments, Iron Galaxy fell in love with the game and offered their assistance and development expertise (Street Fighter III: Online Edition, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Origins, Darkstalkers Resurrection) to bring Divekick to a broader audience and help realize its full potential. The fully-funded Kickstarter was cancelled, and the new collaboration has resulted in the game being equipped with GGPO-powered online support, a fully-fledged single-player campaign, and many other features.

"Once I played Divekick, I knew I had to steal it from its creator and reap the benefits for myself," said Dave Lang, President of Iron Galaxy Studios. "I look forward to seeing Divekick Cyber Athletes on cereal boxes in the near future."

One True Games Studios is led by fighting game experts including Adam “Keits” Heart. "Divekick is good at two things: teaching some of the basics of fighting game to players of any skill, and ending friendships. I partnered with Iron Galaxy because I know they love these things as much as I do. They also gave me large burlap sacks filled with cash, which certainly didn’t hurt," said Heart. "This game was made by the community, for the community, to completely tear apart the community."

Iron Galaxy began as a small team of industry veterans working out of their basements in 2008, and has grown into a fifty person technology powerhouse with studios in Chicago and Orlando. With multiple titles shipped across all current console, PC, and mobile hardware, our clients and partners rely on Iron Galaxy’s expertise and track record to execute their most trusted brands.
