Hello jiro it was nice to play you last night. I think I'm definitely better at the blanka match now, you have to play very differently than the usual divekicky vortex madness cammy against him. Lots of crouching light kick on wakeup to stuff electricity. Actually I played a blanka on ranked last night who was ENTIRELY electricity on wakeup and random balls, and he had no idea what to do when I kept hitting him out of electricity and then tick throwing him. I think I have won my last 3 matches against people playing blanka, which is a new record. I also came up against a ranked yun, and thanks to about a million cammy/yun games against donut I spanked him quite thoroughly. It was a good night on ranked, in general. The nicest thing was air-throwing bipson out of a wild U2 to win the match.

That's exactly it with Blanka. His wake up game only seems unbeatable until you start pressuring him correctly, and then you realise that without meter he is in real trouble, and even with it you can make him pay for guessing wrong. Low short pressure is a nightmare for him. It was when I started playing against people who knew the Blanka match up at the Manchester ranbats that I realised how limited his wake up really is, and also when I started beating all the terrible XBL Blankas. It's the same with Dee Jay; it's really easy to make upkicks whiff and they can be safe jumped, but if you just try and jump in or cross him up like a normal character then the match seems impossible.

Yeah, without meter he pretty much has to eat a low short, which I'll try to option select a spiral arrow into if I remember. And if he's in the corner then he's toast. And if the blanka insists on throwing out random balls he'll get there pretty soon, because spiral arrow has decent knockback. And yes, you can safejump him with cammy, but it's a complete bugger and the timing is manual and frankly what's the point. It's ace, though, because it was like a little lightbulb went on in my head and I suddenly realised I'd been playing the match like an idiot.

Oh! I option selected an evil ryu's teleport with ultra 1 last night. It makes me feel a much better player than I actually am.

I can't do the Rab thing due to the date which is a shame as it sounds intriguing and I like him. It's really weird seeing him now he's not a chubber, I bumped into him in Cineworld at a screening of that terrible last Batman movie a wee while ago and he was all tiny and gaunt looking. I hope he's keeping alright.

Does anyone know if any interesting international types are going to SCR this weekend? I've heard Infiltration mentioned but nobody else.

I just finished my 28 march losing streak, yes 28. Couple of reasons

1. Day time fighter seems to be full of high BP players

2. I really don't play Elf very well

3. and lets be honest I mash buttons and my execution for some reason has gone further south than penguins do.

Oh and it wasn't with Elf either lovely Ms Li helped me out against a fine Korean chappy who like his fierce Ken srks and even then it was a run back.

So I think FADCs on hold whilst I try and master the fundamentals and practice more. I might have to put Elf on the back burner and use a more traditional SF character too.

Either that or I should just stop playing ranked and stop being so salty

What about your dan? Don't you like dan any more. Personally I find fuerte a nightmare to play, you need really good execution to get damage from run stop fierce, need amazing mind games on wakeup and really need to be on point with his defense.

Friendly lobbies Plops, that's what we need. They're better for improving your game than ranked by a mile. And they're much more fun than training. I've played loads of ranked and I've learned very little apart from humility and some anger management techniques.

I lost patience with ranked months ago and so I just do lobbies all day, whether they're with randoms or you chaps. Well, not literally all day. You know what I mean.

Dan is awesome, I just not Saikyo enough to make him proud In other words I just used Elf so much I've forgotten how to play him. Hmm who's closest to being a bear

Cheers andygt for the games this eve! Your Guile makes my Rose feel so useless, I need to get on point with my projectile game. Also I like (hate) that you only jump in while I'm trying to deal with your lp Sonic Booms. Later on I enjoyed landing my favourite Chun gimmick (punish with cr.hp x mk Bird, then EX Bird to catch buttons). Also I have finally trained myself to charge properly while jumping so I can juggle with EX Bird after air-to-air hp's.

Jiro, the lag was a shame, but at least we could connect - let's try another time.

Edit: also I feel like posting this, I think it's from Vanilla but I only found it recently so apologies to old hands. It's still gdlk

Oh I had awful lag tonight... been having a really odd thing with our homeplugs where they're connecting to our neighbour's Sky box. My laptop will be connected to our home network but if I go to 198.162.0.1 I get their Sky router's landing page via a wired connection (opportunity for evil - they've not changed the default wired passwords) and at the same time I can't reach either of our routers (have one set up as a repeater) until I unplug the homeplugs (which are used to connect the Xbox and the 2nd router upstairs) and then it all settles down. I mean that's mental - I've no idea how it can happen.

Anyhoo been messing about with it, pairing the homeplugs and stuff and tonight the lag was awful. Checked with my laptop and the Xbox was getting a terrible connection don't know what the fuck is going on. Had matches with Joe and and JLM. Oh and a wee sneaky one with Joffo while I was making pasta. Joe's lobby was unplayable so I didn't even get a game with AndyGT and at first the connection to JLM was as bad but we did get a few games later after I'd messed around switching things on and off again. Don't think I won a match, but there were a lot of close ones. I've got new homeplugs coming tomorrow so hopefully that'll fix it all.

I hope you get it sorted Jiro. I double checked and there was no problem at my end this time. I played a bunch of other people with no lag either, including STVAR, who sent me rage mail! He had 3,000PP like me, so I went random select to see if I could still take him. He played his 2,500BP Balrog against my random select 0BP Abel in game one and beat me three rounds to two. He then switched to Cody and I got random select Dhalsim ultra 2. It went to round five, which I ended up dominating because he suddenly started jumping like a maniac and walking into limbs, which I would later find out was due to intense rage. The rage stemmed from me hitting a wake up TK Shangri-la to take the fourth round after noting that on every single wake up all three of the previous rounds he had gone for a meaty normal. Literally every single one. He had shown me zero respect, so in my view the ultra was guaranteed to work and it did. He did not see it that way.

He picked Ibuki next, who appeared to be his main, and I got random select Cammy. The first round begins, he doesn't move, I get:

I don't know about you lot, but I had a great time on Mario Kart 7 online tonight. I got screwed over on Mario Circuit 2 pretty hard, but managed to bag 3 mushrooms and nailed a perfect time trial lap on lap 3 to take the win.

Then I thought I might play some Street Fighter, but I have a moderate NAT that won't shift, seemingly. Despite me being on the same router for 6 months with no issues. I just jumped on for some games anyway - waited in 2 full 4/5 player random endless lobbies only to get removed as my turn came up.

So I went on facebook and my feed claimed to have a new article about Boards of Canada. I got all excited, scrolled down a little bit and it turned out to be an article about pollution in Canada.

Fuck this game. Fuck everything. Except Mario Kart.
