Ultra Street Fighter IV

I'm definitely going to have to play more Gief, the one round it took Donut to realise I had no idea what I was doing was great fun. Also I hadn't played Cody in forever, he's more fun than I remembered too. Even when I tried to slide > throw as a shout-out to Rose. Doesn't work, obviously.

Shit guys, we've been rumbled

I'm advocating that the Mega Thread would not exist, therefore whether a specific game thread would/would not exist on the basis of the individuals of the forum. I'd call that coercing rather than forcing.

A forum should work on dedicated conversations, easy to find content and relevant discussion. How is it useful to the forum that people in a Street Fighter 4 thread are discussing Dark Souls and Frog Fractions?

By having individual threads I would hope that people would start to use the forum properly, we become more welcoming to new users, and that the culture changes naturally regardless anyway.

It was Demon Souls actually :P . Back on topic I got hit in the family jewels playing football tonight, boy was it a hard shot.

Straying slightly I also received this in the post today

So back on topic Dishonored is rad. I was trying to carry an unconscious body up a long set of stairs, but once I got to the top, there was a guard blocking my way. So I put the body down on the top step, walked out the doorway and teleported across the room, getting ready to choke a bitch. I glance back over the doorway, and see the body I had hurriedly set down slip away from view. I rush back to the staircase, to see this burly man in his ridiculously Napoleon-esque finery gently slipping down the staircase, bumping his face on every step. Heh.

And then a grenade rolled down a hill.

Elso error1 is still working on his Black Belt Edition style hacked SFIV and has just finished Rose. This is the one I'm most interested in so far, simply because of the possibilities for Rose Ball it creates:

Holy balls, I just watched this. As cale says, DO WANT.

I think I came across two of those hacked SFII cabinets when I was a nipper, one in Manc and one on holiday maybe? I feel like if the internet wasn't around to confirm it, my brain would by now have convinced me that I'd just dreamt it, because Tom's idiot mate Kirk had said he'd seen one or something.

Anyway, I applaud this obsessed man and all his works.

Evo line up:

  • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
  • Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2
  • Mortal Kombat 9
  • Street Fighter X Tekken 2013
  • King of Fighters XIII
  • Persona 4 Arena

and...

You may have noticed that there are only seven games in the list. To determine the 8th game, we’re holding a donation drive, with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Here’s how it works.

We’ve set up a donation page for the each of the most popular games in our previous Facebook poll. The game whose community raises the most money to help find a cure for breast cancer will be the final game at this year’s EVO. You can help get your game there by donating yourself, or by forwarding this page to your friends and relatives.

I would love to see Darkstalkers 3, CvS2 or ST

Side tournaments:

Frog Fractions

Demon's Souls

Not surprised by that at all, really. I guess Mortal Kombat is back because of MLG etc, despite it being wildly unpopular outside of the US. I'm also kind of surprised at the lack of PSAS:BR, seeing as Sony sponsor Evo. It must've bombed pretty hard :(

If anyone wants to watch Smash, Apex is on this weekend.

I wonder if Smash Bros will make it through based on the donations. Will they get people well versed in the game chosen to commentate? Because based on that Wombo Combo video I kinda hope they balance it with someone unfamiliar too.

I think I'd like to see Guilty Gear, Smash Bros, 3rd Strike and at least one dedicated hour on stream discussing the local burritos.

I thought I saw some kind of vote on EventHubs or something the other day where Smash Bros. was well ahead of everything, including AE and Marvel. I'm not entirely sure what it was for but I was surprised to see the level of support that game has. I would love to see 3S at Evo again but I doubt that'll get the votes.

Also I have successfully booked Evo weekend off work for the first time in a while. Woo!

Also I hope this post does not somehow dissuade new Street Fighter players.

One of my favourite things about this thread mostly living on the front page is that it might ensnare new players from time to time. When it does, I think it's remarkably welcoming and we all have lots of advice to give and a big list of players to practise against without having to trawl the infinitely less welcoming dedicated fighting game forums.

I hope that the last couple of pages where we discuss the Streetfighter tournament we're running, Streetfighter we've watched on stream, Streetfighter match up advice videos, a Streetfighter Hack video, Streetfighter we've played against assorted internet folks and which Streetfighter games are being represented at the Streetfighter world championships are to MW_Jimmy's satisfaction. He's inspecting us right now guys, so none of your INCESSANT COLESLAW CHAT.

Although Tesco's finest creamy coleslaw is surprisingly good for a supermarket 'slaw, I must admit. They also do Applewood smoked ham which is almost as wonderful as the cheese. I've been eating some good sandwiches of late.
