Ultra Street Fighter IV

JLM

Mighty Mike Wild, I'm not sure I'll be on tonight and if I am it'll probably be late. I can definitely make myself available at a reasonable hour tomorrow, however. Say 8-ish if all goes well. Let me know which of these is suitable.

Yours,

C. Amel

Yeah, that was a pain. Plop missed some matches, and it looped after the last replay but kicked plop out. I think he's got everything now. Anyway:

Lyrical Donut 5 - Nuskool 1

Loads of close games there - uppercuts were shutting down my attempts at raggo divekicks and overheads a lot of the time.

AndyGT, when is a good time for battlings my good man? I am good before 6PM and after 11PM. I know these windows are far from ideal, but I'm also going home for Christmas on Friday and will have some time between then and Christmas Eve where I can be a bit more flexible. Let me know when works for you, as there may also be days where I can sneakily turn off the wi-fi and get a few games in before anybody notices.

I'm utterly dreadful at this now, lads. Lost a load last night as gief (though I did beat a 14k BP Seth! Counter hit headbutt of doom plus cocky sonic boom > wall dive eating ultra 2) because I simply could not do stuff. I love gief though. I used to hate grapplers, but it's great being such a big, hulking menace. Plus Street Fighter IV's easier standing 360 make it hilarious fun. Still, didn't stop me getting smashed around repeatedly.

I also played Nintendoland in 4 player four a good few hours. It's just such tremendous fun. Especially the mario chase one. Not as fun as Hidden In Plain Sight, but a good attempt.

Mike, are you definitely not around tonight?

I made it on last night. At 1:15am :(

It did mean I got a few games in though so I'm not as rusty as I was. I'm still pretty rusty though. I mainly played some guy called TANDEN ENGINE who started with Ryu and changed to a few other characters before settling on - of course - Seth. I only won a couple. Seth is horrible. Make him go away please.

I spent a while a month or so back doing an option select against Vega as Ibuki of jumping hard punch with an installed half circle forward and focus; if it hits you still get her air target combo, but if it doesn't you do neckbreaker. I just wanted to catch backflips, but for some reason it reads ibuki as being on the other side and auto-corrects the neckbreaker so she does it away from Vega. Annoying.

It's just a spacing issue, probably.

I really wish you could program the training dummy to do certain things with programmable timing in different situations, like sequences of attacks, or choosing one of a few options on wakeup etc. And then review the inputs and outcome in slow motion.

I like the idea of installing an option select into an attack, Kind of like a new kitchen or something. I have a number of different installations which I might use, but I'll probably muff them up most of the time so not to worry. Also the timing to do them after a divekick is a bit shonky, because her recovery is slightly different than a regular jumping attack.

also yes, it would be nice to even just be able to set the cpu to just do things on wakeup. Just some of the time to do a specific reversal and other times to block, or whatever. That would make life so much nicer.

JLM, I will should be on later tonight but if not I'm off work for the rest of this week so will be about during the day (and probably at night too) for some punchings. just sent you a friend request so anytime I'm on let's rumble.

Guys, is there any JLM specific science that can help me? I was thinking of throwing some sonic booms and running away.

He loves a good walk up throw. He also deliberately tries to test what you'll do in different situations, so try to spot where he's doing that and deliberately do the opposite later. Or maybe do exactly the same, in case he's read this. MIND GAMES. I'd normally say chuck out flash kicks and disrespect him too, but I think he's expecting it. SO DO IT.

The main thing though is, if he's Dudley, and he's jumping in on you as you wake up: DO NOT BACKDASH. Those option select Ultras hurt. Block it like a man. A family man.

Also, if the's knocked you into the air and juggles you with a hit that didn't seem very damaging, you should probably get ready to block a reset attempt in the opposite direction. He loves doing that as Sakura.

I preferred Luigi's Ghost Mansion, personally.

But yes, I spent my entire time with Wii U basically thinking about how Hidden In Plain Sight was available for one three-hundredth of the cost.

They could definitely do some brilliant stuff with the game pad though. I didn't really get too into Luigi's Mansion, but I could see me liking it a lot more once it gets a bit more Mind Games. Loved when the lightning would strike, revealing the gamepad player's ghost, and they'd freak out, haha.
