Ultra Street Fighter IV

I am recording a replay on SoR and I'm trying to incorporate some dance tech into it, it's not going too well though.

This came out on Steam today, and it's currently 10% off. It's reet good:

I have a horrible feeling my laptop's too creaky for this, but it looks amazing. Super Meat Boy has left a bit of a void.

This seems like the place to ask for (3)DS recommendations. I have NSMB2 and Zelda now, will be getting Mario Kart soon and Mario 3D Land for free in January, I'd like to pick up some DS titles I've missed in the meantime.

I had a DS Lite which I regretfully punted in about 2008 so I'm interested in anything released since then as I haven't kept up with it at all. I'm sure I've heard good things about Ghost Trick, and The World Ends With You and that 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors thing from people in here, is that right? I haven't even played Layton game as they looked like they were for young children to me. What is good?

Street Fighter IV (3DS)

Last Virtue (3DS) is the follow up to 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors and is quite good,

Star Fox (3DS) if you liked the N64 version,

Shiren Mystery Dungeon (DS) is an awesome Rogue type game

Mario 3D Land (3DS) bit sized 3D Mario goodness

Ghost Recon Shadow Wars (3DS) SRPG thing but rather good and cheap now too

Ghost Trick is indeed good if you like a puzzley type game

You should all play more HDR; it makes you excellent at tick throws.

The gs I managed to get in were g, aside from the last one against imp there where it was mad stuttery and prompted me to give up. Kept getting booted off Xbox live tonight, which I guess is my payment for the two incident-free sets I had against donut over the past couple of days. The Donut vs Imp Balrog vs Adon match before I gave up on my crappy internet was pretty hype though.

I think that's tough for Seth mostly because Cammy has great air normals and an air grab to stifle Seth's mobility, and her damage/stun output and ability to chase his teleports means he's actually scared of her offense. He jumping roundhouse and jump back fierce can actually compete with Seth in the air, which isn't true for a lot of other characters.

Also Donut, challenge my SOR2 very hard trial score!

I think you can probably EX Spiral Arrow the fuck away from my Boom FADC stomp/crossup fuckery set up too. It's annoying and it's not fair on Seth at all. Poor Seth.

Also Donut, challenge my SOR2 very hard trial score!

I shall check it out, after I at least set some kind of score on the Nerve Wrack pack. It's definitely going to be an abysmal score though.

I lied and had a quick go on that trial last night.

Things I'd forgotten:

SOR 2 is a good game, but I wish it had the music from SOR.

Skate is godlike.

The biker baddies on stage 2 are named after different weather conditions and I very nearly mistook 'Gale' for 'Cale'. They also wear rather silly outfits.

Arcade machines can sometimes contain gold and apples.

The 360 pad really is dire for double-tap dashes. Pressing 2 face buttons at the same time isn't particularly reliable either, so it's nice that you can map the controls. I'm going to have to cheat and use a Saturn pad or a stick.

When the ladies cop it they make a shrill whistly sound.

Stuff like this:

I have The World Ends With You; some lass in work gave me it because she didn't play it and a) I'm impossibly charming or b) She said she had it and didn't play it so I said I'd take it. I didn't play it either.

9 Hours 9 Cliches 99 Red Balloons is pretty good; it's mostly an interactive novel broken up with some room escape puzzles not too unlike that Crimson Room thing that was doing the rounds in browsers around... oh my god a decade ago. There's several endings to be earned as well, and different routes through it all; the best feature is that holding right on the dpad on your next time through fast forwards everything at a blur, but automatically stops as soon as it reaches a line of dialogue or choice you haven't encountered before. Neato.

Kid Icarus is definitely worth a try; it's as packed full of collectables as Smash Bros games are, but with a fun wee weapon combining/upgrading feature and a clever adjustable difficulty where you gamble the hearts (currency) you have to increase the "intensity" of the level; resulting far more aggressive enemies but a higher chance of better collectables. It plays a bit like a stylus-starfox for each level's intro, then goes a bit Sin & Punishment on the main ground sections, though no longer on rails. It's during that section most people complain about the controls. They do take some getting used to. Still, it's all wonderfully presented and has a lot of cute, 4th wall breaking humour and decent (constant) chatter.

Pullblox off the eshop is great also. As is the Game Boy game Donkey Kong (usually called Donkey Kong 94), if you've never played that. It's a puzzlier approach to the old classic and likely my favourite Game Boy game. DSi Ware plays host to Paper Plane! Which is just that mini game from the original Wario Ware for £1.80. You can then attempt to beat my times.

Oh! And the first Layton game is brilliant; you should definitely try it.

Cheers! I'll download them later and add Kid Icarus to my 3DS wants list. Amazon had the first Layton for just under a tenner so have nabbed that, and Mario Kart because it's never going to get any cheaper so I might as well get it now.

I'm probably going to trawl this thread adding anyone who's put a 3DS friend code in their signature so if you receive any unsolicited friendship soon that was probably me. Does it show up like "3244-5429-8726 wants to be your friend?" I hope so.

Shiren Mystery Dungeon (DS) is an awesome Rogue type game

I am terrified of this, I watched someone play it on the Super Famicom and it looks brutally hard.

I've played about 5 minutes of The World Ends With You. It was pretty weird because I knew nothing about it whatsoever other than it being an RPG and switched it on during our journey home from Japan. It starts in Shibuya, the Hachiko statue is featured and I was all like ... well, this is weird, we've just been there. I decided I was too knackered to play it though and watched a film instead.

That's the end of my amazing The World Ends With You story.

You will die a lot (like another game :) ) but on repeated play throughs you build up relationships with other characters, like your long lost brother who eats all your food, who join your party and thus makes it easier. There is a training dungeon which teaches you all the basics with little trial dungeons. It is very good and I have two copies so that if I die I can go and rescue myself with my other cart :)

It is awesome.

I've played the demo already actually, ages ago. It was pretty good, but I didn't buy it because I've not bothered playing Monkey Island 2's remake and I really should. Still not online though.

That Shirin Mystery Dungeon sounds interesting. Maybe I'll have a wee look into it too. Whee! Games!

I've got a new technique for the Nerve Wrack pack. If I can manage to actually finish the 3rd stage after it I should get a score of around 400 coins more than my current score. Oooooh.

Yasawas - Gameboy Tetris is on the eShop too. It's still one of the best Tetrii alongside Bombliss. VVVVV if you managed to miss it previously, Cave Story when it turns up. I loved Pilotwings Resort too, that should be pretty cheap these days.

And this, when it gets localised.

As for DS games, I assume you played Ouendan 1 & 2 when you had a DS Lite. If you didn't you need to fix that.

I want them to hurry the hell up with the GBA stuff, because Drill Dozer and Rhythm Tengoku.

Oh, and I've added you.
