Ultra Street Fighter IV

Is SvB the same time as the london final of the 25th anniversary tournament? Or just really close to the point of being almost completely overshadowed?

They've teased another big announcement for the end of that anniversary tournament, haven't they? I bet it's a 3s:OE style re-do of whichever game we want the least.

I shook Daigo's hand at SvB and had him sign a pad covered in cat stickers. I also lost at Street Fighter against men.

I would be up for that*. I've never even played it. Weren't the console and arcade versions pretty distinct? Both awful though, I'm sure. I remember one of the developers gave a long and pretty honest insight into its development on some forum or other a while back.

I almost bought Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition for £12 the other day. I probably still will.

*Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game.

I can quite distinctly remember not being able to comprehend how graphics could ever look any better than a digitised sprite. Because it's real. I also once had a mate bring over his fancy new Playstation so I could show my step dad the FMV intro to FIFA '96. "Look! It's just like TV!".

You'll notice I said "step dad" there. A telling little insight into my potentially broken childhood.

Shaq Fu?

For some reason I thought that was the game with the fighting tiger thing, and then I realised I was thinking of Tai-Fu. And then I wondered how the hell I had remembered Tai-Fu.

What was that game that got a 1 from Edge? Kabuki Warriors? Is that worse than Pit Fighter?

My wee cousin got Shaq Fu for Christmas one year. It's amazing that game exists, even when I was 14 it sounded ludicrous and I can't comprehend how grown men with money somewhere thought that was a worthy and likely profitable idea. Also, it was made by Delphine somehow which means they went from the decent and interesting Another World, to the wonderful Flashback which built on some of what AW tried and was critically lauded and universally loved, to Shaq Fu. Game development is a strange business.

On topic I think I might buy a 3DS tomorrow and I'm pretty excited about playing three DS Castlevanias and probably some Mario and Karting games. I am 32.

No it is awesome* as you can do taunts to win extra money from the crowd

*No it is really bad and I have actually played it, though the taunting bit is true

Perhaps they are going to reprise Rise of the Robots?

Don't feel bad Yas, I'm 38 and own a Hello Kitty Chun Li which my daughters have had the privilege to look at, but not touch.

I loved Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow. I didn't play the other two DS games though. I probably should. I loved Circle of the Moon on GBA as well; I did a stupid thing where I accidentally sequence-broke; babystepping through a sewer-y bit full of streaming green, poisonous liquid that would sap your health as you stood in it. Struggled on, levelling up and healing for eterninty, beat the boss, then found the next area ending in me cleansing all the water, making that entire section much easier. I felt stupid for a minute, then like an absolute baddass thereafter.

Another slightly smug brag: that Metroid Fusion on GBA; everyone goes on about it being difficult, but I got it from a mate and played through it in a single 3 1/2 hour sitting with absolutely no memorable issues. He sat playing Phantasy Star on the Gamecube all the while but he really wasn't enjoying himself.

Also; I have not actually played Symphony of the Night. I do have it though. I should totally play it.

I want to play Street Fighter. When I imagine playing it I imagine playing it as Ryu. I feel a bit guilty about that.

Yeah, despite making noise about it I'm not sure I'll be able to make SVB now. Combination of money woes and other things cropping up. Also for the first time this year, actually using my precious gaming time to play other things. Madness.

Symphony of the Night is the only "Metroidvania" I've stuck with long enough to get to the end (not 200%, but I did get the "good" ending) - normally I just don't have the patience for all that back-and-forth shizzle, and every time I come back to the game after a break I forget which bits of the map are unreachable (for the moment) and waste time revisiting them. Memory Fighter :(

I played Metroid Fusion right up to somewhere near the end then moved onto something else. I do this a lot.

I've been playing other games too! Mostly shmups (Akai Katana, Eschatos, Under Defeat) but also Rock Band Blitz (which is 58 times better than I was expecting given all the negativity around its release) and Super Hang-On on that weird Sega Vintage Collection pack.

I 1CC'd Deathsmiles for 360 and, uh, Espgaluda II on iOS. I had to make things as easy as possible without tweaking the difficulty though, which meant choosing Rank 1 stages throughout Deathsmiles and making the barrier automatic in Espgaluda II. :(

I'd like to think I'd be good at KoF Sky Stage, but I still haven't got that :P
