Why all T-Hawk players persist in using Light SPD when they're rarely gaining anything from the close knockdown. MMS Native would have done tons of more damage if used the hard SPD more often. That's T-Hawk's gameplan imo. Do a fuckton of damage and then stay away. Let your opponent come to you and make mistakes. MMS Natives needs to work on his meter control, he blew his bars for very little reward in those games. Ryu was jumping all over him because he never saved any meter for EX-Tomahawk which is really Hawk's only good anti-air.

Finally made 1000PP for the first time last night. :) Lots of games against a Yun player called ollyizzard on the way, who recognised we were similar skill and kept joining, which was kind of nice. Really don't like that matchup so good to get some practice.

I think now I've hit that little milestone I should drop Rose for a while, try picking up someone else. Considering Deejay, or maybe a grappler.

"Why would I want to use anything other than the strongest attack buttons?" ;)

It'd be funny if it weren't my actual philosophy when using grapplers...

I only ever use LP SPD with Zangief because I heard it was ridiculous in one of the versions of the game, and now my brain is stuck (I think it might still be ridiculous though, so that's okay). Same way I only ever use HP SRK with Ryu and then wonder why I can't get FADC to work in this latest version. With Hawk I like to do regular throws because JLM finds it physically painful to see Hawk's regular throw put his opponent at full screen.

I like dive kicks.

This afternoon and/or evening I will be playing fighting games.

Is T Hawk's hard punch SPD followed by a forward dash and immediate HP horizontal Condor-Face move absolutely safe? I like doing that to bait DPs.

I also lose entire matches as Hawk due to my constant attempts of air-to-air lp x Condor Dive to land a tricky SPD.

Haha, yeah, I try that all the time too. By all the time I mean each of the four times I've played as T Hawk.

Dive kicks are good. I feel a bit dirty saying that, but I main Juri and have a DiveKick Kickstarter T-shirt, so whatevs. But at least they encourage use of the other attack strengths.

My Heggfest matches will show that I'm slowly inching towards using nothing but dive kick, jumping MK, standing MK and crouching MK with Rufus, with maybe the occasional crouching MP or standing MP when the moment feels right.

I thought he got some good setups off the odd lp.spd, the splash can make uppercuts whiff, and against fireball characters it keeps hawk in close with a knockdown, which is where I thought grapplers always wanted to by. I don't see why ryu would ever go to hawk, since fireballs can do a significant amount of damage/chip.

He was replying to my post asking who else other than Tokido was in Brazil for this SF25 thing I think, he hasn't completely lost it.

P2 side-related fact - in the Topanga league series and other online tourneys (maybe even in offline tourneys, I've never checked) Daigo always forces his opponent to KO him in the lag-test before the start so he can get the player 2 side. It's not just me who struggles with certain things from the P1 side then.

Anyway it's nice to know I can connect to Joe again. What's less nice to know is how free my ryu is to rose. I need to work on him quite a bit more, but I'm enjoying playing him at the moment for some mad reason

It was also good to play, alistarr, even if all I did was bellow down the mic about dropping my FADCs all over the place. What a nice afternoon of playing street fighter it has been.

Yeah the general idea is to do LSPD and then you begin your mix-up game but if you watch the videos the Ryu player was just shutting it down with ease, time to switch the HSPD in this case!

Yes, ggs mate! Nice little Rose-Ryu set, then I tried out Deejay for a while and was completely awful. Baited so much into wakeup EX upkicks/Ultra. Fun though, I'm streaming with cold so I might just sit on the sofa in a duvet all day tomorrow and try to get used to the gregarious chap.

Played my flatmate after. He isn't getting any better, although at least he still quite enjoys it, so I spend whole matches trying to do flashy and difficult stuff, which works out quite well. Also noticed for the first time the cheering man on the cruise ship stage who you can make fall over with Viper's seismo. He has to climb back up, hilarious.

I finding this near unplayable online at the moment. It's awful. I am going to move flat in the next month though, so I'll be basing the decision almost entirely on which has the best internet connection available.

Also, despite everything, Ryu is just tremendous fun to play as, isn't he? He has so many satisfying combos and a load of excellent meter-wasting corner combos as well. Also, it's hilarious how useful a delayed auto-correct mp shoryuken can be.

Also also, I was playing that John Rhoads Ibuki man a whole bunch the other night and confirmed that I still cannot block a vortex. I just have to 50/50 it. Dunno why; I properly stare at where she is on the screen and block according to that, but still always fail. Bah. As a related question; does Ibuki's kunai hit overhead? I don't think it does, it's probably just the followup getting me before I can process what's just happened.

Vortex wasn't the only reason he beat me so consitently with her though; there were lots and lots of great links and a few Vs Rufus Tsumiji loops as well which were doubly impressive considering the connection. Another reason I fail is because I don't punish his blockstring into mk tsumiji kicks where he usually ends with the sweep. It's not a true blockstring, but quick enough so that when I try to jump away (I nearly always try to jump away) the sweep catches me before I escape, which results in a hard knockdown in a good position for Ibuki, the cow, haha. Pretty good games all round and he sent me a message afterward saying it was good to play "someone who thinks". What a gent; I'm reckless. JLM should play him and have a mind-off.

So yeah; when's Heggfest?

I was still dropping FADCs everywhere, I guess I'm releasing the buttons too quick. I can do the uppercut FADC j.mp ultra all the time in training, but since I react to when ryu lands to do the ultra I guess the online lag must just throw my timing a bit. It was wildly satisfying to win a round with dp FADC j.mp ex tatsu, though. Also that one where I caught your jump back with air ex tatsu. I want to try and air juggle with that after an FADC. Also I did wonder what the hell happened with you grabbed me through a fireball or something. Hitboxes! I think that f.hp alone got me through against your seth.

Oh, and that excellent thing where I got stunned at EXACTLY the right time so that your ultra totally missed while ryu stood there holding his head.

I'm going to make a roast today, with all the veg and potatoes and maybe yorkshies and some butternut squash.

Hooray for roasts.
