I think it's more the amount of recoverable health than how quickly it regenerates that's the issue. The problem is that the combo system allows for really massive big long combos, which can do quite ridiculous damage, and the recoverable health is there to kind of mitigate that to an extent. Boost combos are also discouraged because you get massive damage scaling/red life (like 50% of the combo can be got back as red life) from them, way more than if you link into a move and then cancel that move into launcher. But the issue with boost combo scaling is that people who manage red health well can almost end up with a whole extra characters worth of health, which is just silly. In my poorly thought out and rather rushed opinion, a slight overall damage nerf, with a significant decrease in red life generation might help matters. It doesn't help that they just stole the damage scaling system wholesale from SF4, which is not a good fit for the game. And I have to admit I kind of like boost combos, it helps separate the game from SF4 a bit and with the damage/red life scaling they're not that overpowered. Rolling is fine too, since it stops the game being entirely about wakeup and means that vortexes don't work.

7f throw startup was always fucking stupid anyway, and I seem to recall that someone said they couldn't have a proper throw range because it messed with dhalsim or something? In which case why not just take 'sim out of the game. Nobody plays him anyway, right? You need proper options to beat blocking, which is another reason the rounds last forever.

Dhalsim is probably the least effective character for mashing in the whole game.

Which explains why I lose so often

I'm going to attempt to break the record in Japan for most teleports in a single game of SSFIV. I reckon I can do it easily.

That is exactly what I want to hear.

Truth is, I don't think I'm going to get to spend that much time in arcades mashing cunts. Although we're spending 9 nights in Tokyo (after 4 nights in Kyoto) we're going to be getting all touristy and doing loads of day trips and such. I have set aside two days to explore (buy) Akihabara though. We're doing Kyoto, Enoshima, Tokyo, Nikko, Kamakura, Ghibli museum in Mitaka and Tama zoo in Hino City. I'll give your regards to Daigo.

I've already shook Daigo's meek little hand and spoke to him in such an unintelligable quick burst of grinning nonsense that he would been less likely to understand me then I would his japanese response.

I want to go to Japan. I want to go use some capsule toy machines and look for sailors and smash bicycles off the faces of pompadour punks.

The most fun we're going to have is explaining to people in restaurants that my gf is allergic to nuts. Should be as much fun as telling waiters in Europe that my children are vegetarian and that bacon doesn't really count as a vegetarian meal.

I want / need to go to Japan too, if only to stomp around town like Godzilla and spend all of my god damn money re-buying PC Engine games. I have friends who live there and always post awesome pictures of arcades and stuff. If they keep it up we might not be friends for much longer.

I want to go to Japan to spend all my money at Jiro Ono's Sukiyabashi restaurant, not only because its name sounds like a violently drunk scottish man shouting "Sook it ya bas' ye!" but also because I watched the documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi on Netflix recently and it looks like a wonderfully intimidating environment to sit in, a remarkably old man staring right at me, handing over a single piece of handmade sushi which he insists I eat immediatly and all the while I'm fully aware I'm paying over the odds for foods with subtleties of flavour I couldn't possibly hope to appreciate. I'll then spend the rest of the holiday skint and doing that British tourist thing where I wander about moaning that I can't get a decent fry-up and a copy of The Sun.

Also, Jiroczech wasn't in the documentary at all. 6/10.

I think I had a Darkstalkers game on PSP once, and I might have played a few on MAME, but I was never really any good. That said, my UMvC3 LeiLei is amazing, and I can say that because no-one's seen it. The perks of being a Vita owner! (until Nate challenges me...)

Darkstalkers is awesome :) but check out the wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia....ki/Darkstalkers or the wika page http://darkstalkers.wikia.com/ as it will help you understand the naming a bit better, as unlike SF the naming conventions aren't as straight forward.

If I'm correct though it seems that they are releasing the first game and then DS3 which probably has the most complete set of characters outside of the PS2 compilation and is IMO the best version of the game.

The reason I love DS is that Capcom actually experimented with different ideas, characters and what not, that they wouldn't have dared with the SF series.

Anyway I will by the XBL/PSN version and watch as nobody plays it online :(

Oh and I like Victor, BB Hood and Sasquatch.

I think Tokido is going to the Blankafest, not sure if anyone else we might recognise is. There's probably a load of cunts mentioned in that trailer and I don't know because at work I can only access select websites and I'm on IE6 anyway so even if I could it wouldn't load. IE6 is the Blanka of browsers.
