Ultra Street Fighter IV

Please use spoiler tags guys, I'm still on Marvel pools from day 1. Thanking you kindly.

I definitely agree that Hawk beats Gief. They're obviously not very good at vortex-ing each other, so it comes down to the ground/mid-range game and Hawk beats Gief there.

Canada Cup International teams so far:

Team Canada: Air, Johzear, TBA TBA TBA

Team UK: Ryan Hart, F-Word, Andreas, Problem X, Taaha (Or Traaha as he's listed in the trailer.)

Team USA 1: Justin Wong, Mike Ross, Dieminion, TBA TBA

Team USA 2: Ricky Ortiz, FChamp, PR Balrog, TBA TBA

Team Netherlands: Emersion, DoomDomain, Momi, ChaozTheory, MBR.

Team Korea: Laugh, Infiltration, Poongko, TBA TBA

Team Japan: Tokido, Fuudo, Kazunoko, Bonchan, Mago

Team South East Asia: TBC

I like that UK team a lot. I'd have liked to see Afii in it but I'm not sure who I'd drop for him. Taaha is the weakest in terms of big tournament results/experience but he's still a great player, plus his Abel is beastly and he's a character well suited to the one game format of a team tournament. One of the the two U.S.A. teams could do with Wolfkrone on it. They both have Rufus, but aside from that they're all extremely solid fundamental characters who risk getting randomed out in the one game environment. I hope MBR does some damage in the singles tournament. He's one of Europe's best players and easily Europe's best Akuma but he doesn't get much recognition for it.

Team Korea could just be Poongko and Infiltration and I'd probably back them to win it, but all the teams look very strong and it should bring the hype.

Man this game is so much fun to watch!!

JLM, regarding Afii I don't think he's that great at all from what I've seen. I watched Infexious body him with ease recently and he was also beating Problem X regulary. Its a shame he can't travel a lot.

This was with T-Hawk I might add!

Infexious is really, really good though. I don't think getting bodied by him is particularly damning, but I can agree to disagree if you don't think he's up to much generally. Problem X is a great addition to any team tournament squad because there's always value in having a decent Seth on there. I'd like to see Infexious on the team too of course, I just take it as a given that he doesn't travel so I was just talking in terms of the WSO players from London who do get out to more international events.

Maybe I'm too critical or biased even but surely a top Deejay should be beating a T-Hawk player regardless? Even I've beaten Afii on occasions but I'll admit to not following the UK scene at all so I don't know how he does in tournaments and such. I'm not saying Afii is a bad player when he's obviously not but I'm not sure if he's on an international level of play.

Regardless I hope the UK put up a good fight out there :)

Had a gloriously lag-free connection all day today. Unfortunately not many good endless battles to be had though, so I ended up playing a lot of ranked. Went up to 3,300PP, then lost five or six games in a row and dropped all the way down to 2,500. Goodbye 3,000 club. :(

I do wish Chun Li wasn't so irrelevant in this version of the game. I got outplayed in a few of the games, made stupid mistakes in others, but there were a few matches against strong Cammy players where I just felt so utterly helpless. Chun has great footsies, decent zoning, a great back dash and nothing else. She's not good enough at zoning to be Guile or Dhalsim, and she's not good enough at anything else to do anything else. If it was just SF2 characters she'd be golden, but with the roster how it is now she feels incomplete. Even if you don't want to go with the crowd and pick a dive kick or vortex character and decide to just go with a solid fundamentals character or a decent all rounder, there is absolutely no reason to play Chun when you could be using Ryu or even Dee Jay.

I am salty, but more because I love Chunners than because I just lost a bunch of games. Most of those losses were my fault anyway.

In less whiny news, I had lots of fun in the few endless battles I did find, and pulled out a couple of swag Oni moments that I will be Youtubing very soon. Stay tuned for low quality Jellum-o-vision goodness.

I quite like the thought that people are still playing the "irrelevant" characters and reminding everyone how awesome they can be though. :D Sadly the only time I can ever do anything with Chun is when I'm playing Marvel. :(

Also, I still can't read the word "swag" without thinking of cartoon burglars in stripey sweaters and masks...

Yeah I'm still stubbornly refusing to drop her, but I do get a bit sad in match ups where I can't anti-air and will probably die after the first knockdown. I think the answer is to develop one of my 20 or so secondary characters into a proper secondary to give myself more options.

Here is one Oni Hamburgler moment:

And here is a combo with lots of meters and buttons for negligible damage. (The best kind of combo):

Saw "IMSTILLTHEDADDY" murder people with his Seth at a torunament at Eurogamer's Expo on friday. There was also a really great Dudley player who's name I've forgotten.

Anyway...is there a new tag for SFIV and other fighting games? Everytime I look at the SFIII\SFIV one, no one apart from Joffo, Jiro and Lyrical are ever playing at any one time.

Want to get in on some SFIV\TTT2\VF FS\DOA5 matches. Think a new gamer tag should created.

Someone can come up with a good name.

I say...RLLMUK RUCKS.

:/

I'm taking a little Street Fighter break to actually play some games I want to finish. Current regimen is Super Meat Boy followed by Fez, which is like having one of those brutal pain massages followed by a lovely hot bath.

re: Joffo's NSFW link - what the actual fuck? I... it's... That's just...

I've been playing me some Tekken Tag 2 and DOA 5 and it just highlighted how much I love Street Fighter. I mean they're OK. But no.

edit: Oh and JET SET RADIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! a lot and some FTL (good!).

Oh go on then, seen as I'm here just waiting for the cat to come in.

A New Rllmuker has entered the ring!

"A New Rllmuker" is another gamertag for you to be friends with if you want to play any fighting game with other Rllmuk posters. Add him/her as a friend and free up some space on your list by getting rid of all those blazblue and 3s friends lists that nobody checks. Or don't, and just leave Singho on there on his own. Makes no difference to me, I hardly play anyway!

I'll try and do a hilarious avatar tomorrow.

Singho, just add everyone here:

Anyway, fightings! I ran a public lobby earlier but for most of the time it was just me and this other dude, "TE Soul Taker" or something; I managed to get most of the wins but all of the games were pretty close and he stole some victories as well. We both danced around the roster and he exposed my Cody and Akuma, but at least my Juri was pretty reliable most of the time. Unless I'm against Vega, apparently. Still, we exchanged ggs before I closed the lobby, which is a better way to finish than the usual comments I get about my Juri :P Public Fighter!

Have you been watching Indie Game: The Movie? I finally saw it at the weekend and it really put me in the mood to play Meat Boy again, but I don't have a 360 anymore. Also Phil Fish seemed a lot more likeable and much less fat than I'd imagined but then it didn't show you the game coming out and him being successful so maybe that's the point he became an obnoxious, loud and wrong arsehole.

Heh, a combination of that (watched it this weekend too), and because I'm not drinking this month. Last time I had Fez on the go I got through a bottle and a half of wine one evening and next time I put it on I had no idea what I was doing.

Oooh; I've not been able to get on rllmuk in work for ages, but it's working today; excellent. I've been making do with neogaf but it's full of people complaining that the latest mostly-great-at-worst-average release is the worst thing ever while at the same time there's threads where people are inexplicably hailing the dreadful Bomberman 64 as one of the system's greatest games.

No one has even mentioned enchiladas either.

I will be Tekken tonight. Any of you folks wanna join me? A wee bit? My suave Bob will plant you some tulips.
