Ultra Street Fighter IV

I've been waiting 19 minutes on a ranked match in Tekken Tag 2 now. 20 minutes. I managed to remove a baked haddock from the oven, lazily microwave and sea-salt some green beans, unceremoniously dump them all onto a plate and shovel them into my mouth and then make this post in the time I've been waiting.

21 minutes now.

Also, that Fire Pro Avatar Wrestling game is utterly, utterly gash.

EDIT: Gave up at around 36 minutes.

So like drunken update from japan...

No daigo yet. Played 4 games in akihabara and manged to lose all 4. I almost won a name against a Sim player Which went to the Last roynd but my ultra didn't come out so i lost.

Drunkenly talking to some american dude at the place I'm staying and it turns out he "worked" one of the cameras for sp00ky at evo this year and remember that horses head... that was his! So like he said to meet up at next years evo which to be fair would be awesome. He was telling me his tales of playi g poonko and fuudo.

Couple of pics to post which if I can figure out how to do from my mobile I'll upload shortly.

I am jealous. Japan looks excellent because it just looks like Street Fighter. I love how Sagat is posing like a shaved Fabio in that second pic.

I've cracked out the red (A Faustino VII Tempranillo) and opened up a SSFIV lobby. Mon in lads. Also, I played a Dee Jay called Mikey R K in ranked and won as Sakura after getting battered the first round. Sent his a gg message and got the reply of "Always a pleasure". What a gent.

Excellent photos Mr. Nuskool, I am extremely envious.

GGs to joffo and Joeplus yesterday. Managed to get in 50 or so wonderfully playable and non-laggy games. I have identified which of my housemates is the bandwidth monster and will have to maximise my playtime when she goes to stay at her boyfriend's.

Back on topic; Alistarr, have you tried Alpro almond milk? They're giving away free Alpro products in Leeds train station at the moment and I got a carton of this. I think it's pretty tasty, though the ingredients list goes Water, Sugar, Almonds (2%) so it's not that surprising that it tastes pleasant. The problem I have with it is that I would never dream of using it in the instances where I'd normally use milk. It's quite nice but I don't think it fulfills its role as a milk substitute very well. That said, I think making a chocolate milkshake with it might excellent, so I'm going to do that with the rest.

I also had one of their cherry yoghurts and it tasted exactly like a real cherry yoghurt. Suspiciously so in fact. That's probably because both real yoghurts and these fraudulent ones are both mostly sugar and a bit of fruit, but I was still quite impressed.

Still pretty unnerved by the idea of that tofu "cheese" though.

Yeah, that stuff's okay but it's pretty sugary. Good for when you have a recipe for something sweet that requires milk. For cereal and tea and whatever we favour Oatly, which as its name would suggest is made from, well, water and a minimal percentage of blended oats.

Their soya yoghurts are okay, and actually fill the general health purpose of containing all that bacteria and vitamin type nonsense that apparently people need. I never really liked real yoghurt though, on account of it being weird as heck.

Tofu "cheese" is a seriously dodgy area which one should not attempt to navigate without quite detailed assistance and a few kind words about what happens to people with high expectations.

I excitedly bought that almond soya milk once thinking I'd be able to create the most luxurious coffees ever with it. They weren't too great though. It's still quite nice all the same.

I also had chipotle and lime flavoured Tofu at Whole Foods a week or so ago and it tasted like almost nothing.

In other news, Team Jellistarr is holding a training session* in a secret northern location on Saturday 3rd November. If any Heggfest attendees fancy joining us, just shout up here or drop me a PM.

You have to be able to get to Bury tram/bus station on the Saturday, which is a half-hour tram journey away from Manchester city centre (tram costs ~£5 for an all-weekend ticket). There is floor-based accommodation overnight for a couple of people on Saturday but sadly on the Friday we're elsewhere, so it'll be a one night event. In the unlikely event that more than three or four people shout up, some people may need to find places to stay. If it's just me and JLM then we'll liveblog it and probably fall out over whose Marvel team is the most obnoxious example of counter-picking.

Depending on how enterprising I'm feeling there will either be vegan delicacies or Nando's takeaway and Doritos.

*a.k.a. a "JLM's internet is so lame we have to meet up to play fighting games offline" session.

I think that will be the longest I have ever spent on a tram. Exciting.

Oh, I recently watched the AE from Dreamhack Valencia that Donut linked to a while ago. Was very pleased to see Andreas take the tournament as he's been due a big win for a while now. Western Wolves are the team to beat at the moment. Other than that I mostly enjoyed watching Louffy be his usual brilliant self. Every time I watch him play he has new incredibly smart match up specific trickery I haven't seen before. We need more character specialists like him. At this tournament I particularly liked his use of fierce reflect at all the moments you might expect a fireball to bait Ibuki into doing EX neckbreaker. Once this was established and she's eaten full punishes two or three times, Rose can establish a fireball game in a match up where it's normally not an option. Cuongster is ridiculously good too of course. I think the top few European players are as good as any in the world, and it'd be nice if some of them got to travel more often. Spain's talent pool isn't as strong as France or the U.K., but a couple of their players were quite handy as well. Fun tournament despite a good number of Europe's best players not attending it.

Only watched a little bit of the Seasons Beatings stream. What I've seen so far definitely reminds you how good Spooky is at his job. The sound levels for the hour I've watched were all over the place and I found it quite difficult to watch. I'll go back to it later though, the AE and Marvel brackets are both too strong to be missed.
