Ultra Street Fighter IV

JLM

Recommended Posts

Many thanks to Qazi and Donut for the games last night. Too much dry ranked recently (I even forgot to taunt when I first joined  ), messing about and trying to remember people's ultras was much more fun.

Apologies for my extreme lack of flair. 1-hit combos all day.

Due to this chap

fisher-price-chatter-telephone.jpg

providing my internet at the moment all the Hegg uploads are happening very slowwwwwly so I'm having to compromise the quality a little but I can always redo them at a later date when Mr Price is no longer involved with my internet provision.

Anyway enough of my woes here is a cracking match between JLM and Joeplus

Yep, some amazing games with Donut, joe, nuskool, &L1$74RR and everyone else. I thought I might have to work off some rust since it had seemed like a while since my last decent lobby session but I still managed some wins with my mains whilst also moving around the rest of the cast. Shoutouts to Donut's Makoto for destroying my comedy Viper, and also to Ibuki for still being reasonably playable despite my neglect. :(

EDIT: ooh ooh I also beat alistarr, nuskool and Donut in three straight games as Juri when it was just a four-man lobby, so I was pretty happy with that. Then alistarr's Oni put an end to my glory. :(

I've bought about 15 PS2 games off eBay recently, it's becoming a problem. Anyway Disgaea showed up this morning as it's a series I've fancied since Consolevania reviewed the second one years ago and I thought I'd start at the beginning and it has Imp's avatar on the front (I think) and I love it when things like that happen. Yay!

This is more my sort of Double Dragon

I'm off work today with manly flu, so I've had a few games of ranked including the most terrible of mashing jab match against an Akuma , which was awful in it's comedy value. I won as he kept trying to cross me up but just managed to jump over me in to my mash string of doom. I am a terrible player.

He should switch to Gen like me. I got applause the other night for my Gen. Actual applause.

I also lost nearly every game, but that's okay.

You too, have mastered the Gen Zen. :) I got there eventually. You accept all of the losses knowing that the victories are that much sweeter. :D

EDIT: Also, hello again all! Been some time.

I think my only Disgaeaeaea experience was about five minutes of the DS game before my poor brain struggled to keep up with the tutorial. Perhaps.

On topic, that SF boxset was released recently; read Barry White's exclusive opinion...

It seems pretty good although I've only had about 20 minutes on it, if nothing else it has explained the origin of at least three avatars on this forum. Unfortunately it doesn't work at all through component which kind of took the shine off that cable arriving yesterday too because there's no way I'm switching cables all the time in 2012.

Someone else on the forum had similar problems with Ico. It seems that both these games run at a weird resolution (240i I think) which most TVs won't support.

Yeah, from what I've Googled it seems to output at the same resolution as PS1 games which is the reason they don't work through PS2 component either. I'm not sure how many games it affects, if it's not too many I might go back to it and start with Disgaea 2 for now.

Double Dragon Neon is lovely. Did a co op run last night, followed by a slightly painful achievement run today. My friend is more than a bit OCD, he also calls them cheeves too. Oh god.

We spent far too much time equipping mix tapes just so we could listen to the music for each one. Oh my. That music.

The game is just a bonus.

Looks like it might just be those two. PS1 games are fine on my TV via component so I guess your TV doesn't support the required resolution. Annoying.

I have Ico for the PS2 but I'm not very good at it. I think last time I tried to play it I got lost. :hmm:

Ico is wonderful and was at the time one of the most awe-inspiring games I'd ever played. It's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, god no, but I love it. I'll play it again one day too.

SotC, sadly, was a disappointment for me, it certainly isn't Double Dragon Neon. *guitar wails*

SotC is worth it even if you only play the first fight. I am 3 sections in now and quite enjoying it, though for obvious street fightering reasons I play it about once a month at most.

Ico is similarly enjoyable. They're both games that are best played when feeling relaxed and while having no particular plans for the rest of the day/evening.

I had a Double Dragon game on Game Boy and that was enough of that for me.

I had the original on the ST. It was pretty shit.

I stuck the trial for the original XBLA release on earlier, it was also pretty shit.

Ico is/was lovely, and I've got the PS3 version to play over again. Same for SOTC, although I stopped playing the PS2 version due to frustrations relating to the framerate. Looking forward to tackling it again at some point.

I desperately want a PSN release of Gitaroo Man to happen since I have no way of playing my PS2 copy at the moment. I'll probably just get to the shark stage again and get all upset at it.

Street Fighter.
