Also also also, I'm surprised few others seemed to do the pre-ranked match disconnect check and post match gamercard check; how can you really, truly know how enraged someone might be without doing that? Haha.

Also, on the xbox guide menu of Recently Played folks, Ranked has them load up on the VS screen and it's slightly too late to read them before the fight a lot of the time; endless loads them when you join the lobby. Some games, I think Marvel is one of them, don't even add players to that list.

Heggfest things:

Firstly, thanks to all the people who need thanking.

Hegg for the amazing venue and for being an excellent host.

Mr. Samuel Haggar for the most generous hospitality on Friday.

Alistarr for the mad organisational skills and for going the extra mile in helping me haul my ridiculous luggage around London.

Joffo for the Vice Versas and Krispy Kremes.

Imp for hosting an afternoon session at Imp towers.

'Choo for the lift from Imp's to the secret location when I physically could not have carried my bag any further.

Donut for the poverty games and donating the most excellent of prizes. Plopboy and Choo for donating further excellent prizes.

Anyone who contributed to the amazing array of snacks. Were the mini doughnuts from Goemon? whoever brought those things is a hero.

Rooftop crew for being excellent.

Cale for co-ordinating a gargantuan burrito order.

Nate for sorting the main tournament bracket and for Saturday rooftop crew.

Donut for Sunday rooftop crew.

Oh, and thanks to the production team for the filming/editing/uploading of the matches. What an amazing addition.

Joeplus for the crossword, which I will finish before the week is out.

Everyone who attended for being first rate people. You are all expected to attend next time. Many apologies if I owe someone specific thanks and left them off there. A lot of stuff happened and I didn't sleep enough all weekend.

I'm pleased that I made it through Friday without having to drink the can of Monster I bought as an emergency back up. I absolutely hate that stuff, but was seriously concerned about passing out by mid-afternoon. Arrival at the top secret location gave me a second wind though, and I ended up staying up until a quite ludicrous hour at Mr. Haggar's.

Travelling via Manchester to get some 3DS fighter and ten thousand DJ Huoshen YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHs in to make the journey down sail by was the correct choice.

Imp towers is excellent and I am envious of it. I've only moved into my new house recently but I'm confident that there's no mysterious silver chalice hidden in the rafters. Streetfighting highlight/lowlight of that session was me going for a one frame link and costing myself, well, something that would have been good. Oh, and Imp developing the Ken kara-everything tech by putting his own trolly spin on it with kara focus attacks.

Trying out GC's custom hitbox was great fun. I got two 720s out but they were both buffered into jumps. I also got focus crumpled repeatedly because I kept forgetting which button was jump. I would like to dabble with it further.

Strekken pair mode made me want to start playing it again. The Team Jelli* mojo is still there, and pair mode truly is the only way to play that game.

Hidden in Plain Sight at Mr. Haggar's was absolutely hilarious. That game has a 100% record of delivering hysterical laughter and the foulest of language any time it gets played. Superb. The ranked matches there were great too. Haggar scored the best result of the night by trolling a Makoto player with tonnes of Bison teleports, then landing empty EX devil's reverse into throw from full screen when the Makoto started walking backwards in defiance. Winner.

Best t-shirt of the day was a nearly impossible call, but I think Allystah's Ricky Ortee edged it for me.

Saturday was too crammed with excellent things that happened.

Vice Versas and Streetfighter for breakfast. Good start to the day there.

Endorsement from cool man on train, followed by falling up stairs but escaping without major injury. Joffo bought me a Millionaires Shortbread Krispy Kreme and it was incredible. Played a lot of fighting games. Alistarr discovered things in Karnov's Revenge more broken than Jean, if you can imagine such a thing. I was gutted that I couldn't get Type Wild going in two player. I'll put that up for people to download if they still want to play it. The first release is easy to find, but the latest build took me forever to hunt down and has lots of bug fixes and a new character so is worth having.

Streetfighter and that. I hit my anti-Joffo Dudley technology and Joffo liked it as much as I hoped he would. Jumping roundhouse - > standing roundhouse - > ducking straight - > FADC teleport through - > Standing roundhouse - > EX MGB - > ducking straight for the dizzy and about 55% of Ibuki's life. I am sad that a) it only works on Ibuki and b) it wasn't caught on film.

Too much other great Streetfighter stuff happened. That Donut/Joffo Seth vs Dan with the 49 hit Seth combo and Dan double FADC corner combo was particularly hype, but almost every set both casual and tournament had something funny or cool happen in it. Someone should think about compiling Streetfighter moments that are funny and/or cool.

The tournament was some next level brilliance this year. Almost every match on film, Nate with the Ipad challonge bracket and lots of great play and hype moments. The match replays should cover most of it, but Nate vs Cale (12:20-12:43 in the video is why), my winners final set against Donut and the tragically unrecorded set between GC Zombie and Cale were some of my favourites in what was a stacked bracket of greatness. Was very happy to win the superb prize and was completely mentally exhausted by the end of it. GGs to my opponents and to everyone else who took part. I think the only sour notes of the tournament for me were that Cale/Zombie's war won't be on Youtube and that Goemon had to duck out early.

Was pleased to get a good session in on Sunday as well. The sleepy suite Marvel games in particular were great, highlighted by Alistarr hitting that tremendous Spencer combo he's transcribed up there. Oh, and cale clearly loving Akuma's EX demon flip into EX fireballs as much as I do was fun as well. One of the finest ways to waste two bars in my view.

The matches against BlaBlaMrFreeman were the hypest of things. Both Hegg and Donut took him to the dying moments of round 5 before getting focus crumple ultra'd. I was happy to beat him, but as Chun you have to be particularly wary of focus-happy opponents and I think that helped a lot against him. Also I've played his Sagat a bunch of times in the past and his Ken has similar tendencies. The rage message about escaping like a pussy and trying Nintendogs was excellent. I think it was Keus10 or something. Anyone who meets him on ranked, please send him a message about Nintendogs and he will be confused. Joffo and Imp doing parry trials on the other set up was hype as well. I played a bit of 3S against Joffo but I am woefully shit at it now. Even shitter than I was previously. I should play it more often.

The Dee Jay vs Chun FT10 against Hegg was another Sunday highlight. I learned so much about the match up there and would love to do it again some time.

The Rose Ball tournament was an outstanding way to end the weekend. My hastily compiled bracket and draw made using a napkin is my organisational contribution to Heggfest for the year. I HELPED! The grand finals was somewhat predictable given that Hegg and Alistarr had been grinding Rose Ball for twenty minutes or so before the tournament but it was still a great tournament and by no means free for either of them. Rose Ball should be played as a side tournament at all fighting game events. Myself and Alistarr have started work on a tier list for it by the way. Rose is S+++ of course, and Oni is probably next in line at F+ because he has an adjustable fireball and the option to throw the lightning fireball instead to mix up his speeds/timings. It takes some balls to main a lower tier character in Rose Ball, but I'd respect people for trying.

Some things that were the funniest of things (quite a few repeats in here):

- The endorsement from cool train guy that our hilarious banter was amusing to at least one seemingly well-adjusted casual observer.

- The taxi driver with the boot full of skinned cats and wide variety of cat-flaying instruments.

- The idea of giving the burrito delivery man Baltimore drug trade style instructions.

- The wild confusion caused to both myself and Alistarr by having to shop at two different Tesco branches in two days. This is an entirely different Tesco.

- "Giro cheque!"

- Coming up with real life tennis equivalents for things that happen in Rose ball, and then hammering this premise into the ground in the style of Stewart Lee. "And I suppose in this example, the two Roses would be the tennis players. And the snowy Russian railyard would be the tennis court. And us watching, we would be the audience." I'm pretty sure something similar happened when comparing the rooftop table to otherthings as well. This is quite possibly my favourite type of humour.

- Sleepy Suite/Sleepy sweet.

- The premier breakfast and general seediness of the Saturday night accomodation was funny.

- "It's quite warm in here, temperature-wise".

I'm sure there were lots, lots more. I laughed a lot.

I feel like I've forgotten lots, but I'm also aware that I'm already repeating everyone else's write ups so I'll leave it there. You are all the greatest. Delores, you are the worst.

Oh man, so exciting. Mad thanks to Alistarr and Nuskool for these vids - I'm off on a train to a conference in a bit and I'm half tempted to shell out for the wifi to watch them on my phone. Missed some of the tournament due to rooftop ciggies, be amazing to see it (almost) all.

Oh btw, here's that crossword in pdf for those who wanted it:

Full solution this weekend.

Here are some of the wildly similar mixes on that SF II vinyl. I couldn't find the 'Bonus Beats Em Up' mix anywhere, sadly.

I'm glad it went to Jason, since he probably has one the most obscure collections of things relating to fighting in the street.

Amazing. Sorry for boring everybody by going on about Simon Harris, Einstein and Music of Life.
