Ultra Street Fighter IV

Jellum can be beaten guys:

a) Pick Guile

b) Play Guile really badly

c) Throw out Flash Kicks to the point where you've got him trained to just sit there waiting for Flash Kicks. Walk up and throw him.

d) Win. Maybe.

Easy right Win. Maybe.

For all you gamblers out there, Lyrical bet the farm on this theory; now he lives in a cardboard box...

If we stick with the 8th what are you guys thinking of doing for sleeping arrangements?

If there was really no other option I could always trek all the way back to the Northest of North London to crash at my old man's place. There would be space for Nate Dogg too but I'm pretty sure I'm on safe ground by saying we would really rather avoid that if poss. If there was no floorspace available anywhere a group booking Travelodge sounds like a good place to run the 2012 rllmuk Salty Suite from.

Yeah I'll schlep up there if I have to, obviously, but would really rather not. We'd have to drive all the way up there first, too, to ensure the car's there for hometime on Sunday morning.

There's a Travelodge in Fulham, and another in Battersea. To be honest I'd be more comfortable pushing it back a fortnight so that a) we can stay at Haggar's and b) Haggar can come too. He was a hugely important part of it all last year and I'd feel bad pressing on without big tall Sam. Last time I checked the Gdoc that was the only weekend with no outright nos, too.

OH! I played me some Persona at lunchtime. I played a red lady who can throw two projectile fans with a single button press. And everyone has a chain that merely involves hammering A about five times. Cancellable too, so just did jump - fan throw - AAAAA x fireball+A xx Super over and over.

Ten minutes on it and I am already better at it than I am at Marvel.

Yo

It's very kind of you to say that (I'm blushing on the inside), but this all kind of happened because things have gone a bit uncertain on my flatmate front. Basically my flatmate will be moving out some time in early September (kinda vague) and at some other point in early-mid september I'll be getting a new flatmate move in. I am also currently re-assessing my location and thinking about moving a little bit closer to work so as not to spend upwards of 10% of my salary on the train.

The long and the short of it is that it's quite likely that a couple of unknown weekends september will feature people moving into/out of the flat, during which time it would probably not be ideal to have everyone camping over. Also I'd need to ensure that prospective new flatmates don't mind having a dozen internet men sleeping in the lounge and saying things like "wild" and "scrub" and unintelligible scottish words all the time.

So, since organising this requires more notice than I can realistically give it's best that dates don't hinge around me and other accommodation is explored if possible. I'll still do my very best to make it, and if I'm around and things work out then of course everyone's more than welcome over, but I cannae guarantee.

Sorry about that, I was really hoping to be able to repeat last year. If we'd all done it this weekend just coming everything would be totally perfect. But arg, my stupid flatmate decided to fucking well get engaged and move in with his bulgarian ex-model fiancee. The twat.

I am sad my friends list isn't full of people playing Jojo's.

Well, I understand why, it's way too much money. They seem to have done a good job with the online element (not that I've fought anyone yet, but barring horrendous code, all the regular accoutrements of SSFIV are there in BP and PP rankings, etc). And in particular, the replays seem fairly well handled. Unfortunately no stalking options like SSFIV, but there is a nice frame by frame mode, and replays take only a second to download.

It feels kinda cheap because the presentation (outside the nice borders) is pretty horrendous. Really ugly fonts all over the place combined with really basic looking menus and screens all bring down the beautiful in-game graphics.

It is still the most amazingly camp beat em up though. The way Jojo walks, the hilarity of him walking backwards with an exact, reversed, hip swinging swagger is still amazing. The cutscenes in story mode are also a sight to behold, the amount of ridiculous homoerotic posing all the mans do could probably even sate Joffo's appetite.

Also the sun's animated face on the world map is the fucking best thing.

I was really hoping it would be free or at least reduced under PS+ but it's the full £15.99 which is a bit steep. Downloading the trial now though in the hope Capcom have stopped doing those awful 2-player only demos like they did for HDR and MvC2.

I have floorspace for you Joffo! Possibly also sofabed space provided our house is fully furnished by that point! (I officially have a house to move into next tuesday). So yeah, I can offer 2 in a sofabed, and floorspace for two or three more I think, without things getting too uncomfortable.

Failing the above, I count these people who have already said they're potentially in for a Salty Suite style hotel/hostel room:

Me

JLM

Nate

Cale

Joffocakes

I'm not sure if your average travelodge does a five bed room or whatever, but I guess we could get separate rooms for less value, or if not that then we could look at hostels and booking out a big room so we're the only occupants. I've been to the Oxford Road one (it's not actually on Oxford Road, I don't think but that's what it's called) and it was pleasant. I guess the only risk is they might have rules about staying up which some crazy dude tries to enforce (this might just be the risk logger inside me worrying unnecessarily). I'm sure we could find somewhere suitable between us.

Failing that, I have a two-man tent and I hear there's a bit of space near the cathedral at the moment.

Hello everybody, I would be up for staying in some sort of traveling lodge accommodation, which might help the numbers as I believe they do double rooms? Of course being Welsh I fully accept you may not want to share.

I just had a few matches on the ranked and boy was I rusty after a few days off and my last match was against C+ ranked Elf. Bearing in mind my Guy is pretty poor I was fearing the worst but all those hours spent with the cooking man myself I was abel to get the better of him, well lots of sliding about and ex wakeup when ever I got knocked down.

I would have JoJo'd but I spent my pennies on SXT characters and have no points left, twas a mistake as I really don't enjoy Guy in SXT that much, well not compared to SFIV any way.

He hasn't just knocked the little plastic toggle across so it's now controlling the imaginary Xbox controller's right stick, has he?

I'm going to add a hotel indicator to the spreadsheet.

Do we have enough consensus to select a date now?

Oh god, it's so disheartening playing Akuma against grapplers. You play so well and the other guy's almost dead and then all you have to do is not make any stupid mistakes and okay, he's got a throw in, I'm not dead yet, don't do anything stupi- oh fuck, well, not dead, just don't pan-- fuck. MASH MASH MASH. Shit. Whiffed. Dead.

GGs Haggs and Nuts.

You'd have won the first round too, if you didn't jump in when I had a big fat juicy ultra 2 waiting to gobble you up. the first round of that matchup, when hawk has no meter, is just painful. Also I forgot that there's no point doing lp spd since hawk mixups don't bloody work on akuma and his teleport.

Also I can't believe you made that comeback with adon against donut. I was utterly appalled by it, frankly.

I played Jojo's arcade mode through tonight with Hol Horse - man I love his

(oh, it's the hanged man)...

Jojo's seems pretty good - love the artwork and animation. Some great stage art too.

edit: apparently Hol Horse is scrub friendly - that explains a lot.

Yes, that was literally the only time I actually made an aggressive move on Hawk too, didn't think you'd be ready for it!

Joffo's gone almost completely 2D, and no-one's doing anything about it.

I love Brass Eye so so much. I'm not 2D though; my belly pushes the boundries of the z-axis.

Also, I played JoJo's Bizarre Adventure last night (Jojoba) as Joseph and made little sense of it. I was trying to figure out what I was doing then thought I'd made up a decent combo in training only to realise there's air recovery. Drat.
