Ultra Street Fighter IV

As much as I hate to break a run of pun, I have to blow my own trumpet briefly: somehow I didn't fuck anything up so I now have a Sanwa-buttoned Brawlstick to go with my shiny new TE. It works! :D

Knowing my luck my flatmates will try playing and instantly hate it but whatevs, I now have the goddamn arcade experience in my living room.

Woo. congrats :D

Not suffering withdrawals just yet despite the lack of Fightpaddery, but I'll still check in for entertaining stories, Youtube fodder and puns.

Why did everyone appreciate the way Tom Petty played Guile?

Because he won't back-down. Or down-back. Fuck it, it sounded better in my head.

Cheers to Donut and Nate briefly there. Was very happy to get a round off Nate's excellent Emo Ryu, and enjoyed spectating on the Seth mirror.

The TE is fucking lovely too. The weight of it just feels better, and the stick is great. I fluffed a few Ultra inputs but noticeably fewer than usual, and the ones that came out felt a lot smoother. Magic object.

I just bought Pokemon black because it was £20 in Comet and I'm impulsive. I've not started it yet; is there anything I oughta be aware of before setting out? I'm always paranoid that I'll overlook something and it'll be lost forever. Can I just fumble on through the quest and worry about breeding/moves/protein etc later, or is there a Masterball/MewTwo situation I should also be aware of?

I realise I could ask this in the Pokemon thread.

Polka-mon.

Jigglypuff was always my favourite Pokemon, as for Black no idea sorry. But if you are a little bored at work why not try some Udon SF comics for free

I don't think the 360 version does but the PS3 version let you upload footage direct to YouTube. I found a few clips tucked away in my channel the other week that made me wonder why I got shot of it, tying a guy to a gas canister you then blow up and watch them zigzag over the horizon is a gaming watershed.

Pretty sure there's not much to worry about, you can always go back and find stuff. Besides, if you're going to take a completionist attitude with pocketmens then you'll have to set aside a few years of your life!

After spending a whole summer of my youth going up and down the cycling hill in Diamond hatching eggs in order to have genetically superior high IV pokemans with the correct personality trait, NEVER AGAIN.

I think I might just play the game and enjoy it.

I only play maso-core games.

Also oh my god, the controls in Year 2 of Grim Fandango are even worse somehow! My god I do so love Casablanca Manny though.

We're living in a different world with Pokemon now. A world that has serebii.net, Bulbapedia and people doing Youtube Walkthroughs detailing the precise location of every single item, legendary and side quest and how to get to them. Do not worry about missing anything, train a bunch of turdmon because they look tremendous and then do lots of cycling up and down the same path to hatch eggs. Then you can do what I did and make the mistake of learning how to EV train and thoroughly hate what you've become.

I don't have the patience for 99% of RPGs but I must have logged literally thousands of hours of Pokemon by now.

I've played a fair bit but never properly finished one. I just wish there was a game where you were actually able to get all the Pokemon in one save file without trading or going to some roadshow or something. I know it goes against the ethos but I'd be all fucking over it.

On my way home after beers with Nate at sunny Spiegel tent in Edinburgh - lovely chap. Realised I've not played SF since last weekend! Must sort that out. Bought cakes on my way home, from some new fangled patisserie off the high street. Mmm. Cakes. You know there's a lot of talk on here about coleslaw this and pulled-pork that but precious little about cakes.

Oh that Punch explosion game arrived this morning - looks a bit mince. I'm going to try 100% the achievements on it.
