Pleased to hear you got it alright Joe! Hope you get as much out of it as I did.

After I pulled it I got a message from a guy who had been watching it (it had no bids after 4 days) offering me £46 including postage for it which kind of sums up people on eBay really. So much more trouble than it's worth these days.

Is your fightpad properly knackered then quazi? I don't see how your new router would make it constantly hold 'up'. Probably that the d-pad has given up the ghost or something. I've a fightpad which has hardly seen any use which you could have if you wanted. Thing never gets used anyway.

Properly knackered. I suppose I could try using it as a USB pad for the PC and seeing what the diagnostics say, but it's probably not worth it. I'm due a break from fightings anyway so I'll probably either give it a rest or play more casually with the 360 controller... and then maybe get a new controller (be it a pad or a stick) in the future. :)

Or just man up and use a 360 pad.

That's what I did in the previous lobby; once I knew my buttons it wasn't completely unplayable. I had the three punches set to LB, Y, RB; the three kicks were set to X, A and B. Kind of weird but still workable.

Do the madcatz fightpads have that little LS/DPAD/RS switch on them? The one on my TE has caused me to think my stick was broken in the past.

They do, but changing it didn't really affect things for better or worse.

Just looked at the PC configuration and it looks like the D-Pad's stuck in the Up position as expected. The more I mess with the pad the more I think the problem is somewhere inside the controller rather than anything to do with wires or interference. Down, left and right still have that satisfying "clunk" when I push them, whereas the Up switch just feels like it's not even there, or that there's nothing obstructing the contact, which is why I'm always jumping. Hmm.

There's a joke in there about you wearing it out, Qazi, but I'm not going to make it. Unless I just did.

Just had another wee lunchtime session on the work PC with a 360 pad, and I'm getting a bit better I think. Helps tremendously that I'm starting from 0PP of course, and there are some awful, awful players about, but I even did some FADCs and landed a jab after an axe kick at one point. Baby steps.

I am off to Edinburgh at ridiculous o'clock in the morning and have loads to do tonight to get ready, but I will be playing this game at some point this evening if anyone's about.

It's funny because it's true. During the lobby I didn't twig that it was broken for ages because I have it held down by default. Maybe this won't be such a big problem for my play style after all...

EDIT: this is going to stay with me now isn't it. I think I'll update my details on Plop's spreadsheet - "jumps so much that he broke the Up switch on his Fightpad"...
