Apologies for my prolonged absence... I shall be back and fighting a bit later this week. Without wishing to bore the thread with emo drama... The past 10 days have been an utter c*nt. Same goes for any missed friend requests I might have.

New Capcom arcade game announcement coming this weekend lads.

http://www.neogaf.co...ad.php?t=484744

I hope it's Mega Twins 2 or Street Fighter Karting.

Just over 24 hours to pledge to the Dive Kick Kickstarter if you so desire... and then once the funding is complete there'll be a further wait for the game to be released, of course. Hype!

EDIT: no need! A publisher has stepped in and so the donations are not necessary, but donors will still be honoured with rewards. Which is too awesome. :D

I played it at Sega World (R.I.P.). Put a quid in and ended up getting about 450 credits, then couldn't convince passers by to take the rest of them when we were bored of it. Still fun though.

I'm going out for steak with some friends instead of playing childrens fighting video games tonight :(

Ace! Where are you headed?

I went to Hawksmoor for the steak a few weeks ago and it was just as good as advertised. Also bank breakingly depressing. As a side note, their burgers are pretty damn great too, the cheeseburger with short rib being my choice over the more novel kimchee burger. I've actually been quite busy going to as many of those burger/barbecue joints in the last couple of weeks before I moved out of east London. Bukowski's triple fried chips in beef dripping aren't as good as I'd hoped, but their burgers rival Meat Liquor, and there's no queuing. Fuck queues! I'm not a huge fan of their pulled pork though. I am however a massive fan of the pulled pork at Red Dog Barbecue, which I ended up at last night.

I'm going to die young.

Also, I'm away from my lovely 10-30ms lag television, so any fighting I do this month will be accompanied by a triple-scoop of salt and futility.

I saw him there last night and ran away scared to play Marvel instead. I now have a single Wolverine relaunch combo in my arsenal. Really need to learn Doom, I can't even do air combos with him because his air S (or H, can't remember) is a laser beam that doesn't connect. Might just drop him and go with the Wolvie/Ryu/Akuma team of my dreams, I reckon I could do with a straight projectile assist. As useful as hidden missiles are they keep messing up my combos.

Well, my combo. It's a good one!

Doom's air H is a laser beam. However, his forward+H is a footdive that will almost always connect. Also, Doom is the most fun in training mode so don't give up on him just yet. Occasionally I try one of his "real" combos but that's a dangerous and demoralising road, so here is what I rely on:

What you should try after a midscreen launch (this shouldn't be too hard for you as even I can do it occasionally) is jump cancel the launch and do two Ms about as early as you can (to keep the floating body relatively low), then forward+H which you cancel after hit into a down-forward-dash (which is doable if you use two buttons to dash, but not doable if you try and double tap down-forward!) then another air M out of the dash, then you land and do crouching M to keep them in the air and either sweep into S or just an S to launch again, then up you go. You can then do another M or two and cancel into the air version of his finger lasers super, or try a TAC exchange.

If you're really not confident with that combo and you desperately want some damage just launch, do two air Ms and cancel the second into the air super. It's not terrible damage. Then you can either play lame with air and ground lasers of different sizes or you can try a bit of rushdown.

In the corner you basically just do a couple of Ms, then the forward+H foot dive, then immediately do the S foot dive (you have to let go of forward or you'll get a TAC exchange) to ground them, then use standing M into S to relaunch and do the same thing. If you cancel the air Ms after the first hit then you should be able to get a couple of loops and then end either with the air super or with standing M OTG into his level 3. People with actual skills have other options, but those are the two I like to try (and often fail) to get.

Also, don't overlook Doom's beam assist. Hardly anyone uses it because missiles are so good but it's really good too. Doom's beam assist and Akuma's tatsu would be pretty godlike for Wolverine, I'd have thought.

The other thing I'm working on with Doom is square jumping by doing as super jump and dashing horizontally as soon as possible, then pressing M as I dash just above my opponent so they're not sure which side to block. Not got it down yet, though. You have to super jump because he can dash-cancel his super jump a lot earlier than his regular jump. On a related note, if you've wondered why it doesn't seem possible to horizontally approach grounded opponents fast enough to hit them before they recover, despite every player you've ever watched on a stream being able to do it (well, except Viscant), that's probably why. super jump, cancel into down-forward dash as early as possible (I think the fifth frame). But I still can't do that even now I (think I) understand how it works.

OH MY GOD GUYS I BEAT INFEXIOUS TONIGHT.

Once. He probably doesn't get to play against Makotos much, I imagine. Terrifying T.Hawk.

GGs to haggs, sith and Jellend; who seemed to be on tick throwing duty tonight.

Great lobby last night, shame Jellum couldn't stick around. Yeah Infexious was at mine one night watching me play and was stunned by T-Hawk's cr.MK and after getting fed-up with Dudley's lack of footsies he decided to pick Hawk up, initially as a joke but as you saw last night that is one scary Hawk. There is a fairly big tournament coming up in Manchester soon and I can't wait to see how people fare against his T-Hawk, I'm sure many people won't have a clue what to do!!

I did call him after you beat him in the first game and told him to always do something on wakeup ;)

I blame this Fisher Price internet. I don't mind getting bodied by Infexious at all and would definitely like to get some more games in future, but I was getting yellow bars and frustrating input lag, so I didn't feel like there was much point waiting for another game. At one point I wanted jumping double fierce air to air into EX SBK juggle, but there was a horrible lag spike just as Ted Hawk jumped and I ended up getting crouching fierce instead. It was not good.

Feeling vaguely relieved I dodged that lobby, I have to confess!

Thank you for the invitation, though. I was idly switching different characters into my Marvel team in place of Ghost Rider while listening to that Frank Ocean album. It kicks off with a sample of the SF2 character select tune. Rest of the album is okay I guess.

Ha! It's funny because it's true. Unless I'm in a longer set with someone, I usually just go in as much as I can with Mak - you have to really. It's been paying off really well in ranked lately, not that that actually means anything.

He should do well seeing as Hawk players are pretty rare. Would've loved a few games against his Dudley.

My Street Fighterly belongings are now packed away for moving, so I will have to content myself with reading this thread instead of playing. My lk button was almost gone anyway though, lp coming out instead of throw half the time. Happily though I've found out that my deposit on this room was much more than I remembered, so I can afford to buy me some new buttons. Maybe even a new fight stick to tempt new flatmates with.

The memories of Heggfest 2011 as linked earlier are spectacular and very exciting, you guys. I hope nothing goes wrong that stops me making it.

Also I saw a poster for a folk singer at the local called Claire Free. I presume that means if she's ever in a battle of the bands, she'd get bodied.

I reckon it'll be Pocket Fighter x Cyberbots.

From that thread:

I always thought Street Fighter IV was an awful sequel to Street Fighter III. I remember the first time I played the game and did I a jump in attack I thought to myself "Okay this don't feel right". Tatsunoko VS Capcom & Marvel VS Capcom 3 thankfully fared off much better in my opinion and didn't look like trash either.

I'd say Streetfighter 4 is an awful sequel to Streetfighter 3 but an outstanding sequel to Streetfighter 2, and is better than both as a result.

Streetfighter.

Super Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Marvel vs Streetfighter X Tekken: New age of Darkstalkers Turbo: Arcade Edition v. 2012 Plus Alpha.
