Cheers for the games last night guys. Shame I only had a few with the Rllmukers since the lobby was full of randoms at one point.

Lyrical what happened in round 1 VS Seth? I dived in, you blocked and I was dead to rights and you just kinda stood there for a few seconds and let me chop you on recovery :)

I'd love a session against that Makoto, not played a decent one with T-Hawk for ages and I'm not sure how the match-up goes.

Urgh. So, if you're drunk, haven't played for months and hate Ken then joining a lobby with an incumbent Ken-fiend isn't the best idea.

Luckily, after mister samuel and bastard Ken left, a really rubbish Ryu joined so I got a smidgen of pride back by beating him three on the trot. In the worst ways possible. Success!

No worries! I was so sloppy I was just waggling the stick about hoping for awesome things to happen. They didn't. Won a few after in ranked though then got battered in the final round by a stupid high BP Balrog so not all bad.

I still hate Ken though.

Part of me regrets not manning up and getting in a Lobby tonight... but instead I watched the final two parts of the 'Extended Mini Series' of the original Swedish 'Millenium Series' whilst downing a few Coopers Pale Ales. Fucking awesome series, not sure I'll bother with the theatrical cuts or the US versions.

There was chatter last night on the lobby about Heggfest, and whilst out walking today I was rambling to my wife about the concept of baking Muffins or Cupcakes for such an occasion, but with a Streetfighter twist. I've already come up with three potential flavours:

M. Bisons Psycho Crushed Nuts (Red Velvet Cake topped with crushed candied nuts).

Dhalsims Yoga Heatwave (A dark chocolate and Chili cake).

Blankas Electric Citrus (Green Midori Cake topped with a Citrus Frosting. Orange coloured of course).

Y'see, in addition to being a cheap Ken player, a Dan enthusiast and an occasional squeaker of victories, I also bake and cook quite a bit. So can anyone else think of a suitably daft Street Fighter flavour? Whilst I accept that the majority of responses to this may be daft, I will consider making any semi-serious suggestions.

Gamers gotta eat. Cake is good to soak up the booze.

Right, that's my quota of stupid 1:40am posts with minimal on-topic content done for the night.

So I've been on a terrible losing streak with Ryu in ranked all weekend. Started on Friday with about 2200PP, and basically all I was facing were 2900PP+ monster character specialists. So many solid Rogs, Dictators, Roses and whatnot all giving me zero respect. I continued this today, losing to a whole host of people I shouldn't, low PP gimmick-a-thons, and getting frustrated and failing to punish things properly, dropping combos left and right, all sorts of badness.

So I hit 1500PP and that's it. RAGE MODE ENGAGED.

What choice did I have but to start using Ken in ranked? My first match was A 3000PP Honda. "Oh shit", I think, well, "at least I won't lose too many points". Well, this guy, he seems alright, y'know, solid anti-air game and whatnot, finishes me off in style with an Ultra 1 to beat a jump in MK at the end. Second round, I'm pulling off a few shenanigans, and he starts acting a bit sloppy, seeing as I'm a low BP low PP Ken, and he tried to troll me with repeated buttslams, but I managed to SRK most of them. So he gets angry I assume and tries the same round-ending trick again, and he throws out a half screen Ultra, but this time my jump was empty. Hehehe. I get the counter ultra. And the third round was pretty much the same story.

So after this I'm still itching for a few more points, and I'm fighting people of similar PP now - all 1700-2100 - and, whut? I win every match! A six win streak, culminating in this troll of a Sagat called LIFE MC BEAST who has (shamefully) just managed to beat me a few times today when I was playing Ryu. He would taunt me from the other side of the screen whenever I'd be hit with an EX tiger shot, and his only tactic close up was to mash through blockstrings. Nothing really special happened in the match, but I did manage to do some conditioning - his mashing meant easy baits, and so I slapped him with BIG KEN EX TATSU punishes until he finally learnt to sit still. Then I started the kara throws, and all was well.

I'm pretty sure Ken has a much better time in ranked than Ryu. I find with Ryu one needs to play a more reactive, rather than setup based game, meaning it's hard to adapt in a best of 3 environment. But with Ken, you get big damage combos, meaning you need fewer chances to get in, his 50-50 mix up game is great, and just him being there makes people do REALLY DUMB SHIT because they don't respect Ken players.

Back up to about 1850PP now anyway, back on the road!

Also, I finished up just as you sent that message, Hags, my flatmates just got in and are almost certain to be streaming very soon, so maybe after they're asleep!

Cheers for the games Lyrical and Hagg, sorry I had to leave abruptly but real life jazz, well not jazz but stuff.

Ggs tonight though I did have a weird stick event whilst I was playing as Fei. It just stopped working to the joystick, the button where fine but the stick did nowt?

I have had the HK not work on my orginal TE but this is the first time my round 2 stick has failed me. I fiddled with the LS DP RS button and it came back to life, hmm odd and I had no problems for the rest of the evening.

Edit: I can't believe I got Elf twice in random select and lost both times, maroon.

I finally ponied up the 800MSP and changed my damned gamertag. Greebo_T_Cat was a stupid name, so I've become the infinitely more sensible 'MacMantisUK'. It would have been MacMantis but someone had already taken it :(

Have updated sig, will also update spreadsheet. Would love to get some more folks from RLLMUK on my Friends.

GG's tonight, had a lot of fun playing random characters with the occasional dip into Dan, Juri or Ken.

EDIT: Bonus late games against Mr Samuel, Lyrical Donut and JoePlus. GG's all round. Again.

so much street fighter this weekend. So bloody much.

I had a lovely long session with alistarr yesterday afternoon, where we did some extended sets with balrog v sakura and cammy v oni, which were lots of fun. I don't get to play you much, and it's always a pleasure when I do.

Imp I think my ranked losing streak will outdo yours. I decided to take my day 3 or so cammy on there, and proceeded to lose horribly and repeatedly to awful ryus. Constantly getting hit by stuff like random midscreen tatsu, losing to constant jump back fireball and totally losing the ability to pull off reaction ultras on the player 1 side (which it turns out is wildly annoying, something is going wrong with my execution and I can't seem to sort it). Down to something ludicrous like 300pp when I used to have almost 2000 at one point. Oops. Also I keep doing the excellent thing where you walk forwards and get a dp out instead of a fireball. I really like cammy, but it will take some getting used to her since I normally play charge mans who have excellent pokes, and her buttons are shit compared to say bipson or balrog. However, I get a lot more stuns and perfects with cammy than those guys, so that's ok.

And then a nice long lobby tonight with loads of different guys today and it was lovely, especially when we all went random select earlier. Then at the end I spent half an hour repeatedly jumping into donut's uppercuts.

Yeah, I guess we live on different schedules. It's a shame because instead of having a lovely time fighting each other we have to sit around getting bodied by less savoury folk like Imp and JLM.

I also played a good few games this weekend with joeplus2pi which was a similarly rare treat. And some other people I see more often.

GGs sirs. Chasing down Qazi's Ibuki with cammy spiral arrows is fun, as is catching Haggar with Honda's St.HP xx Super :D

I think I just froze up and did... nothing.

I'd be up for some Mak vs Hawk. It's a match I rarely get to play.
