Best set of the top 8 so far from Xiao hai and Gamerbee. Fascinating mid range game and some great reads/counter reads. Almost a superb comeback from Xao Hai there before he eventually cracked.

Great effort from PR Rog, but Gamerbee is playing too well at the moment. He's massively upped the Justin Wong style Adon side of his game, playing him almost like Fei Long as the match up dictates. Standing roundhouse, jaguar kicks and flawless with the anit-airs.

Unstoppable from Infiltration. Beastly. Surprised Gamerbee got hit by so many demons as Tokido has hit him with a number of those punishes in the past, but everything Infiltration did in the set seemed to be the right move. Amazing. Incidentally, Europe and America both need more Akuma players; he is remarkably underplayed at high level for such a strong character.

Disappointing top 8 this year. Definitely agreed best of 5 would be the better format, since so many of those matches seemed to end just as they were getting interesting, or ended in straight steamrolls. Really disappointed not to see better performances from Dieminion, Poongko and Daigo, especially after seeing their play in pools. I wonder if it'd be better to have finals on the same day, since the gap between seems to be something of a momentum killer creating all kinds of nerve-based dropped links. Actually, saying all that, I think the best thing was actually seeing Seth Killian getting a bit teary there. Not to take anything away from Infiltration though - he played impeccably, seemed to have strategies prepared for each of his opponents and executed on them perfectly. It was interesting to see how Gamerbee was starting to adapt at the end there though, which makes me wonder how he'd fare in longer sets, when players might be more familiar with his ridiculously oversized bag o tricks

Poongko playing Seth like I do? Not a good look. I wan't mental-not-giving-a-fuck-Poongko back, thanks.

Poor Dieminion, looked like he was just going to get steamrolled after the first set. Managed to pull it back a bit, but not enough. He needs a secondary, he's taken Guile as far as he can I think.

Infiltration with all those landed demons. God damn. It just seemed like he was on a different level to everyone else in the top 8.

I'll need to get back and watch the archive for Marvel, because I didn't see any of those finals. Glad I got to watch Street Fighter this morning as well; hypest bowl of curiously cinnamon I've eaten in a long time.

Surprised at all the anti-KoF sentiment being flung around in the thread; I was was sleeping during those games, but at high level KoF is just amazing to watch. So brilliantly elegant and offensive; plus XIII has a real satisfying crunch to its attacks, as well as being beautiful to look at.

Hey guys,

So I've been away the whole weekend and missed all of EVO!! I've just jumped straight in here without looking at anything. Please please please can someone send me a link to where I can watch all the Streetfighter pools and finals from each of the days?

Many thanks

Tommy

Just been catching up with this as real life (pfft) gets in the way some times.

Final was great, though perhaps not as awesome as the infamouse Seth/Yun match last year but still good.

Disappointed that Xian didn't get further after he had his new hair cut and all.

I did manage to catch the SC and MK finals though ?? SC was good but I'm still not a big fan of MK

What is it with these finals and

the use of training stages in the SF games? I've just watched the SFxT finals and MCV and yup there it is again and I've noticed it a lot in the pools matches as well. Is it to help with spacing or are people just dull ;p?

doughnut you are a (my) hero (hero).

Also ploplet, I don't think you need to spoiler that people used the training stage a lot. I think that if anyone wants to, they're allowed to request that the match be played on the training stage and people like it because it helps with spacing and working out ranges. Also maybe there's a bit less going on in the background or something.

I'm going to have to catch up on streams basically every night this week or something.

I'm away all week so won't get to catch up until next Monday. I am devastated.

Training stage doesn't bother me anymore, it's either that or the One True Stage in Marvel (the snowy one without much going on in the background) or Mago's SFIV Underpass (ewww). I think training stage helps the stream, too, less background crap to process.
