Super Turbo tournament of legends top 8 is starting now:

The matches are thus:

Winners:

Daigo vs AfroLegends.

Kusomondo vs MAO

Losers:

RizOne vs Tokido

Damdai vs Mars Gotti

Daigo vs AfroLegends is the sort of match up this tournament was made for. In case you haven't seen it, Daigo and Afrolegends have met once or twice before (47 seconds is where the magic starts):

When the set ended I saw you in the replay channel and thought "I won three quarters of those games and did lots of swag new Dudley stuff I hadn't done before, but I bet he's uploading that last match with all the fucking karakusas".

You swine.

So mad at myself for that EX uppercut too. Towards the end of the set I'd been mixing in EX MGB to catch that very back dash, but I was so flustered that I reverted to the most stupid and obvious option.

The vast majority of the matches in that set last night were very much like that replay I uploaded, minus the comeback.

I was going to record a few more but I got sidetracked when Sako turned up on the ST stream with Hawk. He got bodied.

I'd have uploaded that one too in fairness, perhaps with a Guile theme in there too.

My favourite finish was when I got EX SSB - > FADC - Ultra in the corne OUT OF NOWHERE because I'd completely forgotten to use SSB at all until that point. I love that you get the full ultra animation off that juggle too. I also lost a few rounds towards the end because I was looking for an opportunity to EX thunderbolt chip and never found it.

Great matches anyway, so much explosive damage and stun on both sides. It's so easy for the momentum to swing like that in any given round. I think I win more than I lose just because I block more and because you rarely sit still on wake up and I started punishing back dashes. I'll sit and block ten Makoto buttons and wait for you to get pushed out so I can stick a fierce in there, whereas you just want it to be your turn so you can administer more of said buttons. I think it's the correct way to play Makoto though.

I've watched about an hour of the Marvel QF archive so far and taken a break to see to remind myself what Strekken is like and I think something like three quarters of this Evo has taken place on training stages.

Ooh, an MK9 re-skin

I do not think this MK9 re-skin will make it to EVO. The "arena" and the "wager" (what) make it far too complicated. But hey, ought to be fun with some friends and beers :)
