So, Marvel is mental now because of this TAC glitch thing almost everyone has an infinite, even Hsien Ko? How does the new thing work?

I played Imp just now, but he decided to win all the time, which is no fun. It was fun though, actually. He hit the furthest Solar Plexus, SRK x Super I've ever seen. He also managed to hit me with Solar Plexus Strike somehow even though I was standing behind him, the scamp.

Also played Sith and his utterly terrifying Hawk. I was too, too scared to get in, and made short work of when I got near. Also, his Ryu made a complete mockery of my obsessive focus attackin', haha. Infexious was there, but didn't ready up, which is a shame. I did play his Hawk as Honda in ranked last week though, and scraped a very cheeky win off him.

I'm going to watch the new Alan Partridge special now though, and I am impossibly excited about it. Dinner and King of the Hill on Netflix first though, because that is my evening routine.

Oh! There was another fantastic thing that happened last night - Haggar and myself held down back for 98 seconds of the opening round with Honda and Balrog. Then I let rip with a dashing punch and won. It was ace. Probably not quite so ace for Jiro though, who had just joined the lobby. Sorry sir.

Basically - I think - you do a TAC, which resets hitstun scaling, and then when the time comes for you to land (which would make scaling kick in again), you do something that makes the game think you didn't actually land, i.e. do a final attack that hits right before you land and be holding up before you land. Then find moves that will allow you to continue comboing your opponent while the two of you rise and fall back to the ground, ending with that same thing you had the first time that lets you land without the game realising you landed. This way scaling never kicks back in, because it's been explicitly told by the game engine not to kick in until one of the characters lands.

It's like the game engine is a partially sighted referee and goal-line technology had never been introd... oh. It's like the game engine is a partially sighted referee. You just keep hooking the ball back over the line while he's not looking, and back into the air.

In my unschooled opinion, it's very cool but not necessarily "game-breaking" - they all build meter for your opponent and only happen after a TAC, at which point you'd usually be able to kill anyway.

It might mean that Filipino Champ gets even stronger, of course, because basically all four of his characters will have them, and his team thrives on meter building. On his Phoenix team people won't know whether to block the TAC exchange that gives him a meter or gives him an infinite (and it won't matter to him which one he goes for because his execution is crazy). Pretty scary proposition.

The possible worst bit would be if Marlinpie starts doing Doom TAC infinites instead of his ridiculously beautiful style combos. That said, a re-up into yet more style instead of rocks xx super might not be such a bad thing after all.

I bought Vanilla today, I don't really know why. It does have this though which I'd totally forgotten and is so good I let it loop for several minutes before starting. Also hitting people after KO and flags on the pre-fight screen, they were weird things to take out of Super.

$12 chat is probably a lot different to the usual vile Twitch chat diarrhoea but it's still a weird bonus. I might pay just for the rosy glow, also I'm getting tempted by that phone cradle since you mentioned it and HD would be nice for telly watchin'. That's about £30 though which seems a little extravagant just for HDMI out.

So, paying gets you an HD stream.... and.... umm, access to the chat. Why would anyone want to pay to access the chat? I don't really understand.

Pay-per-chat is an amazing idea. If it deters idiots who just want to spam nonsense in a window nobody else is reading then it might make the chat a useful tool for a change. If it doesn't deter them then we can all feel pleased that idiots are subsidising our fighting game streams for us, just so they can spam nonsense in a window nobody else is reading.

It's a shame they appear to be witholding the archives again, though.

Inkblot (Tom Cannon) just posted in the comments that the archives will be available. Was that not just an error last year anyway, as I seem to remember the Saturday archives working, it was just the Friday stuff that was missing. I might be misremembering that though.

Also I hope that thing about Germany is true but it's Imp and I never quite know what to believe.

Oh, that's good. Thanks, dudes who don't owe me anything!

Oh and Jason sorry for popping up and disappearing but just as you invited me to join a party I got banished to Tesco to buy icing sugar. Sad times.

That's rough.

GGs again Nate. I ate three wake up demons in two rounds there. Dang.

Before that I had seven games with the almighty VRyu Sensei and it was excellent. I managed to get some very close games out of him but never quite took one. I expected to get bodied horribly and I think I raised my game as a result. I also made sure to mix up my defensive options because I've seen all the amazing tech and back dash spam is not going to cut it. I also got to try all my fancier stuff I hadn't been doing in ranked because it's designed to work against good players. Caught him with the nemo string frame trap, a couple of back dash option selects and the classic safe empty jump into low. I also landed cr. short - > cr. short - > cr. jab - > stand jab - > far standing fierce - > link into Super against him in the first game, which perhaps bought me a few extra games. Exchanged friendly messages afterwards and I told him I love his Makoto science videos. Oh, and he used that dive kick fake cross up thing from his latest videos against me. Evil stuff.

Sorry I'll explain a little better.

I picked up a CPS2 ( This is Capcom JAMMA arcade board well half of one) and the problem with all CPS2 and CPS3 arcade boards is that they have a battery installed onto the motherboard which is there to stop people trying to reverse engineer the boards. This is because one of the rom chips gets wiped if the battery runs out or ins't present for a period of time (for CPS3 boards, i.e. SFIII this is instant death as soon as the battery isn't alive) and when this happens you no longer have a working arcade board :(

So you have to change them every five years or so to keep them running. You can get what is known as phoenixed boards where the battery is removed and a special version of one of the rom chips is installed so you don't need to have a battery, but the borad is no longer original as it where and you have to go to all the effort of getting the roms flashed.

So all I did in essence it changed a battery, but on a piece of Capcom fighting history and Darkstalkers is defiantly worth preserving :)

Man, that sentence should get you Seth Killian's old job.

To kind, though I think JLM would be a better choice due to his excellent commentary and being able to play the games :)

Amazing work, plopboy and I'm massively jealous that you now have a working Darkstalkers cab.

If I could, I would neg Capcom and their fucking idiotic suicide batteries. Stupid Capcom.

Thanks, though CPS2 is a breeze to maintain compare to the evils of the CPS3 security carts :( as you say stupid Capcom. The thing is Capcom can revive the CPS3 carts but only for arcade operators and Japanese carts, so if my US 3rd Strike dies it is lost for ever :(

That is until the encryption is finally cracked.

Did you know that Mike Ross got taken into hospital a couple of days ago? He's ok and I think he might be back home now, but the picture of the medical sheet he posted on Twitter gave us a couple of interesting bits of information:

- he is 28

- he is white

Yessss, he is older than me. Thank god.

Also ggs to everyone last night. I played a wild amount. It was wild.

Highlights included nate chickening out again, after only beating me 3 or 4 times with his evil ryu; somehow perfecting donut's seth with Terry and missing about 50 punish spds in a row against quazi because I can't do an spd from down-back, it turns out. Also I have a new appreciation for just how dire balrog's focus attack is after i charged one up to punish a gouken hurricane kick, and it whiffed from almost point blank range. I also played a lag-free ranked match against a man who was a man from Canada.

Then I watched the new alan partridge and marvelled at how he went to lots of places that i have been to, in the city of Norwich.

Yes, geegs last night, you fine people. I won the first Evil Ryu v Oni match against Jason and wondered if I should just quit there and then, but ploughed on and soon regretted it. How infuriatingly good you are with the entire cast - and how infuriating that I appear to have forgotten about throw teching.

And Haggar yes, gugs to you also. Quite pleased that you didn't catch me with Trip Hawkins' Ultra II once - you need to coach me into fearing SPD for that to work, really. Also did I perfect someone with Blanka? It feels like I did, but I can't remember who.

I played some Marvel. I don't understand it. I tried Doom's missions and I really struggle with the combos where you have to press a button immediately after the launcher. Also I hate that auto-scrolling move list - I understand it needs to be like that for the really long combos, but there are plenty where it could display the whole thing but just cuts off the last two moves. Most frustrating.

Awesome lobby with Haggar last night - it started off with one huge series of Ibuki vs. Hawk matches because I wanted to try and convince myself that I could still sort of play Ibuki. I think we each had our fair share of wins but Haggar had the lead in the end and it was a good opportunity to share our musings on the matchup. :P After that I eventually got bored and alternated between Juri and Ibuki but by this time I was giving away free wins to Haggar by being completely crap. Still, at least we can still connect to each other without XBL having a fit about my ports or whatever. GGs!
