Ultra Street Fighter IV

It really was excellent. I was strictly Rufus/Ken before then and had no interest in many of the others. I think C to Shining C improved my play all round, especially when I start seeing opponents using the same cheap tactics I tried to use, and got punished for.

Didn't do squat for me. No it did really, encouraged me to leave Blanka behind (but not forgotten) for starters. I loved it. Still think I'm wired up for charge characters but I can at least understand what everyone else is up to a bit better. I really struggled with some characters, I'm sure there was someone I had like a 17% win rate with.

Just got big fat Cody up to B, the 20th to get covered in B's, which means it's stats time! Here's all my win rates with each character after getting just over 5000BP, in meaningless, impersonal list format.

Rufus - 76.00% (7831BP)

Bison - 65.84%

Dee Jay - 70.37% (6136BP)

Dan - 61.17%

Ken - 71.09%

Makoto - 54.72%

Fei Long- 65.00%

Cammy - 62.59%

C. Viper - 51.35%

Gen - 59.34%

Ryu - 66.39%

Dudley - 61.05% (Had a bad run with him after though, so he's down at about 4500BP now)

Rose - 63.56%

Balrog - 62.55%

Blanka - 75.65%

T Hawk - 63.41%

Zangief - 66.53%

Hakan- 65.59%

E. Honda - 72.00%

Cody - 69.78%

I also played Mass Effect for an hour one day.

Found this post from my covered in B's attempt. Win rates. I'm sad that AE meant I stopped before I got to the end of it. I dunno if this is my most recent list either; I think I did a few more characters than that in the end. Every time I spot a Super payer in Ranked I switch to either Seth, Adon or Juri. And lose.

I also think my win rates now are worse than those too; There's far more better players around now.

EDIT: Lord, I've played this game an awful lot.

I did Dhalsim! I think my winrate will be a lot less than yours though, on account of being a much less capable Dhalsim player, and my insistence on winning rounds with anti air Shangri La. He's really a lot more fun to play as than to fight against, Sim.

I think if I tried that I'd end up on about 10% for most characters. And also would have had to lose my job to fit it in. I don't play this game enough, and by that I mean I'm playing it a bit more recently and loving it.

There is promise of ADSL2 in my area in late July, and I'm hoping that improves my net connection to the extent that I can play more humans. Though when I can connect the connection doesn't seem too bad, so is the strict NAT stuff more likely just a router issue? Can I just buy a new router?

I kind of want to have some technical man walk into my house and fix it, after trying all advice in vain.

Yes.

On the subject of wildly dry fei longs (Mago), I got pretty comprehensively taken apart by a man who played fei the other night. He joined my lobby and proceeded to beat me like 9-1 or something. He 'only' had about 1800PP, but never dropped a hit confirm and was really on point with all his punishes and spacing. I was playing balrog, who I'm trying to learn properly, and I don't think that fei is a particularly good match for 'rog. I was certainly fairly unsure what to do a lot of the time, was getting out poked a lot (bloody rekkas!) and still lack decent punishes. I kind of adapted a bit, as he had a habit of throwing out uppercut FADC the instant that he got 2 bars, which led to a lot of baits. I was chip away from taking another match off him, and it was a combination of me choking massively and him going full guile theme comeback on me to seal the win, which was a bit disappointing.

He also had a ryu, who I did a little bit bit better against. I even got a dash ultra through one of his fireballs, which I was kinda chuffed at. I should have picked rog up at the start, he's definitely very suited to my style (mashing cr.hk and holding downback).

GGs Imp. Appreciate the practise in getting my Chun up to scratch. I have my Ultra 1 reactions back but my all round game is still sloppy and I'm missing anti-airs and ultra 1 corner juggles I shouldn't be. Feels like it won't be long before I'm back to something approaching my best though.

After that, my dream is to find a character so terrible that, when I get a win against you, it's because I've practised the character for thousands of games and therefore played the character quite well, and not because the character is secretly high tier. Perhaps if AE 2013 has Oil Drought Hakan as DLC I will be able to achieve this.

Hahaha, geegs. Every character is secretly high tier though, every character you use. At my level anyway.

In a way it's a compliment, after all, you do play a lot of characters rather well.

GGs to Curtis - some awesome games there despite my entirely predictable Juri and entirely annoying Blanka. This game is so much more fun than Strekken that it's silly. I'll probably look at the other game again when Jimmy's available, but until then I'm just happy running AE lobbies with randoms and rllmukers. I took a bit of a break from SFIV due to Gravity Rush distractions but may be back on a little more now. :)

I'm back from university so I can finally do something actually important and play this online again. I wanted to for nine months, but every time I snuck on to find someone on here to challenge, my housemates would appear as if from nowhere asking if they could have some games with me. They've got quite good in the time to be fair; one of them can do a lot of Sakura's linky links, but it has given me so many bad habits. Like jumping-in-whenever-the-hell-I-feel-like-because-I-can-and-will-keep-doing-it-until-they-learn-to defend-their-airpace.
