Ultra Street Fighter IV

Starting to trawl through the CEO stream archive. Day 1 had lots of fun things. The Yipes vs Marlinpie casuals on the CEO secondary stream that Alistarr mentioned were amazing. I think every match had something I'd never seen before.

The pilot episode of "G@mer" focusing on the rise of DMG and Triforce's desperate attempts to save Empire Arcadia's fighting division by re-signing Justin Wong at last year's CEO was quite an interesting watch. Every time I ever see anything involving Triforce he seems like such a tragic and utterly delusional figure and this was no different. It was interesting to hear the specifics of the deal he offered Justin Wong to try and get him to leave EG and come back to Empire; Hotels/expenses/tournament entry fees for the duration plus $25,000 for signing. Not sure how long the contract would have been for, but I've never even seen a ball park figure for a fighting game sponsorhip before.

It starts at around 3:13 here: http://www.twitch.tv/teamsp00ky/b/321564634

Can anyone provide a link to the top 24 of AE from last night then? I bailed after the Marvel grand finals.

I still don't understand Marvel at all but watch quite a bit of it on streams and cross counter running sets these days.

I made a serious attempt at watching Marvel for the first time last night and enjoyed it, really need to learn how to actually play it. I intended to do that yesterday - put the disc in, turned the XBox on, connected TE, saw people playing AE and played that instead. That's been happening for about seven months now. Anyway, I was kind of inspired by what I saw even if a lot of the finer points went way over my head.

I think I played vanilla Marvel for about a week before getting distracted by other shiny games. I was probably distracted by SF4 as well, come to think of it...

I play a bit of Ultimate on the Vita but it's hard to find other players, and something tells me my Hsienko/Chun-Li/Morrigan setup isn't the best idea...

Yeah, fuck learning it. I watch it and understand almost exactly what's going on but it's just too fast and manic for me, too much going on on screen for these tired old eyes, for me to actually want to play it. They say the execution barrier is lower than SF but the increased pace offsets that, imo.

Oh and thanks for the ERyu praise, folks. I blushed. Jason, I will try that Sakombo next time but does the fireball really combo off the jab? Colour me sceptical.

Haha, quazi that sounds like possibly the single worst team it would be possible to make. I think viscant wrote an article recently in which he said the worst team he could think of would be something like hsien ko/phoenix wright/chun. I do kind of sometimes want to go back to my old haggar team to try and figure stuff out. I could just never figure out the timing to call assists to get things like otg's or whatever, so all my combos were 1 character only.

Damnit. :( Well ideally I'd want Juri/Ibuki/Blanka but I guess Marvel 4's still a long way off. I suppose I could pretend that I'm intentionally disadvantaging myself... :P

Here you go http://www.twitch.tv/teamsp00ky posting from my mobile so too lazy to find out how to link it. However, it seems that the final few games are missing. Does anybody have a link to them?

Do you know where the final games are?

I just learned a totally new thing, look at this:

stand-tech: anytime within a 14f window (regardless of who initiates the first stand-tech)

crouch-tech: once within a 7f window (dictated by when the opponent initiates the stand-tech)

Stand teching has a longer tech window than crouch teching, who knew? Although throws have 20 wild frames of recovery, which is quite a lot more than I thought.
