Yeah, the pork chop into super vs mago (it was mago, at shadoloo showdown last year, commentated on by that fucking awful loud mess heavy weapons) was awesome. I'm not sure if he hit confirmed it, or if it was a reaction whiff punish, or if he stuck it out there with the super buffered in, knowing that it would only hit if mago threw out on of his longer range pokes like crouching fierce, which is what he did.

Sanford always looks so downcast, with his little tiny downturned face. I feel quite sorry for him all the time.

Amazing from Mike Ross!

I was messing around in ranked the other night when the name Starnab popped up. He destroyed me the first 2 matches but in match 3 he fell for the jump back EX Dive in to ultra twice!!

Boom headshot!

SEA Major grand finals:

Some here disagree, but I still thing Zhi is one of the best commentators around if not the best. Xian really is an immensely talented player too. I want more CC Asia excellent adventures.

It's remarkable how fast Xian's Gen has progressed, and I'd be hard pushed to argue that anyone has a better one. Amiyu was amazing at Shadowloo Showdown, but Xian seems to play Gen exactly as his character designers intended. Changing stances in the middle of block strings and during footsies and forcing the opponent to guess at every opportunity.

Daigo played Ryu for the whole tournament, but apparently spotted that Xian is particularly good against Ryu and went with the surprise move back to Yun for grand finals. Guile is Gen's worst match up and is considered to be a 7-3, but Xian specialises in Gen's bad match ups and I've seen him blow people up for attempting this counter pick. So, at 5-1 down, Daigo finally went back to Ryu and we got the real match. Great set, and I think the commentators were spot on about Daigo enjoying it.

Back on ranked with Chun, putting JLM's science into effect. Hit-confirmed that EX legs combo a few times and Ultra 1'd through a fireball. Still horrible at anti-air but from four Ryu matches, three close losses and a convincing win.

Can't decide whether to continue or watch some of The Killing, need to get that finished.

(Edit: played a few more, ranked up! That'll do. Time for some Lund.)

Pos'ed for being Chun Li.

So apparently after there being two big events at the weekend there's CEO in Orlando this week which has Daigo, Mago, Momochi, Choco, Gamerbee and the usual American suspects. And then it's Evo in three weeks or something. Pretty mad schedule. Hard to believe too that it was almost a year ago I was getting up at 5am on a Monday off work to watch Poongko teach Daigo the Seth matchup with ludicrously hype results.

Oh, this just happened too. Sweet. https://www.wepay.com/donations/67876

Already booked the Monday off after EVO :)

Enjoyed ECT and looking forward to CEO this weekend. With the extra foreigners it should make for an interesting tournament.

2 part arcade stick question... The stick on my TE seems to be kinda loose now, I guess just from general wear. Have you guys found it goes after a bit? Anyone replaced with an Semitsu LS-32-01? If so how is it? I heard there's less "travel" which i think I would prefer.

Seimitsus have less travel but they're also stiffer (oo-er)

The Sanwa stick in my HRAP (bought in 2004) is pretty loose but still works fine...

Mike. Ross. Oh man, that was wonderful to watch. I have no idea where the charge for that EX Buttslam came from after the dash. I watch the first two videos JLM posted this morning as well. I don't know what information would be considered a spoiler, but man; wonderful stuff. Particularly what seemed like an unblockable setup in the bad matchup, followed by an option-select sweep to the Focus absorb dash response. I'd imagine a Super woulda fit there too. Evil.

I'll watch the big final video tonight!

Gegs to Jiro, michael and Cherry Pez. I don't think I've played Mr Pez before and I always have trouble against good Rose players.

I was very lucky to snatch a win off him - Rose's baws probably should've cancelled out my desperate Ultra 2 attempt in the corner. I was hoping for a runback to settle a best of 3, but he chose to out-Mak me instead :P

Yeah, those vids JLM posted are wonderful. If anyone hasn't seen em yet then you have a real treat in store. Just great play all round.

Plus that Choi / PR Rog thing was excellent. I've not seen many streams recently but that's the second time I've seen PR Rog have absolutely no answers in a set of matches. The other being that Infiltration beasting he received.

Is cherry pez a rllmuk man? He was quite good. Rose is nice. I'm starting to quite like her again, especially not that her cl.mk has had a bit of a buff so you can combo from it on regular hit, it's the only 1f link in the game I can ever get with any degree of reliability. I was quite pleased when I managed to hit confirm into super from it.

Also I spent most of last night incredibly tired and looking at the P1 side super/ultra meter, regardless of the side I was on. Which sort of explains that wild round with honda where I kept doing unexpected mp headbutt. I thought I had ex, and when ex didn't come out I was convinvced my stick was broken or something.

So many scary sakura resets, too. How long can she do that hurricane kick combo for? is it forever? linking off specials is so wild.

Oh did anyone see that johzear/choi FT5 they did online a little while ago? It was really cool, amazing footsies, some good mind games going on, and johzear deliberately not using his ultra to punish fireballs until the very last round of the last match, for the win. I think he caught choi with a lot of online stuff that shouldn't have worked, though.

jlm tell me a bit about choi, as I don't know much. Is he an old school sf2 era player or something? He doesn't seem to go to that many tournaments or anything, but beasts with nothing but fundamentals when he does.

Every Sakura I meet now has absolutely no trouble linking after every tatsu.Plus they that loooong cr.mk cancelled into uppercuts. And that cr.hp. And her seemingly tiny hitbox messing my crossups. And also everything else. I hate her.

Hello, cheers for the games folks. Been off the SF sauce for a while and have decided to get back in to it by learning some Makoto (anyone with a good cr.mp and I'm there), so thanks for the lobby, I should be about late of night most week days, if I see you folks about I'll send you a message if that's OK. (FR's sent to all who weren't on my list)

Re: Haggar's query:

Yeah, John Choi is one of the old school American gods of Streetfighter along with Valle and co. Not quite as old school as Mike Watson and Tomo Ohira but the next set of players after them. He's one of the best at SF2, Super Turbo, CVS2 and was Valle's main rival aside from Daigo during the SF Alpha days in the 90s. He doesn't travel so often any more, but he was top 8 in at least one of his main games at every Evo up to about 2009, and in 2008 he won both Super Turbo and CVS2. Those tournaments had BAS, Justin Wong, Tokido, Nuki, Valle, Sirlin, Buktooth and Combofiend in their top 8s as well, so they were far from easy wins even though those games are side games now.

You'll still see him at NorCal tournaments and anywhere realtively close by, but he doesn't travel much further than that these days. He's also known for being useless with the newer Japanese arcade sticks and still using his old bat top modded monstrosity.

That last round against PR rog in the video is amazing too. If you look at the red line indicating the center of the training stage, Choi goes past it into PR Rog's half of the stage at the start and then never lets Balrog step back over it for the rest of the round. PR Rog tries every answer he can think of, and when he gets K.O.'d the best he could do was get back to the neutral position they started at.

Also nice not to see him encased in noise cancelling headphones and actually enjoying the crowd reactions. Epic set of fights, look forward to Xian bamboozelling folks at Evo. That Crane OH switch combo was ridiculous. Love me some Gen.

Anyone want to help make me look good? I've been searching for something to make for http://www.streetfighter25.com and eventually I made a little sing-along video set to the SFII theme. You can see it if you scroll down to the bottom of the 1990s section and click "More Postings", before scrolling through 1991 to 03/01/91 and a YouTube video called "StreetFighter25 (qazimod)". I won't win anything by getting nice feedback, but it'll make me look good. And I have the option to delete it if the negative feedback gets too much, so it's all good. :)
