You can pick me up in the middle of the country if you like, but only if I'm allowed to play 3DS fighter with JLM until we both get carsick (it will probably be far less hassle for me to just get a train and for you to not have to go miles out of your way and add a bunch of time to your journey by leaving the motorway, though).

I hope Hegg can make the weekend that we all apparently can make.

If there were enough people interested I could drive down from Edinburgh to London for Heggfest - anyone fancy that? Fancy a road trip Joffo? I'm picturing Fear and Loathing mashed up with Thelma and Louise via King of Kong.

I hope someone has a fancy smartphone thing so they can stealth record the journey down.

Things I'd like to see / hear:

  • Opinions on Hegg and his tournament fixing ways
  • Who is going to body who
  • That inevitable hard shoulder stop off where Alistarr and Jellum lose their breakfast / lunch from too much 3DS fighter on the move.
  • If Nate and Cale join you I'd also like to see some kind of FOTC sing-along at some point, too.

I look forward to the results.

Also donut who was that nice man you were playing with? He seems to have a very Honda Honda, but all of his other characters were somewhat decent as well He sent me a nice reply to my "gg" so i like him a lot. I also liked when I got him with that instant air blizzard and jumped up and down a bit. I've done that thing where I don't play for over a week and go all rusty and forget what all the basic punish combos are and how to time anything. At least T.Hawk doesn't need any of that.

Did everyone see that utterly ludicrous setup that gamerbee had on mike ross's honda btw? He somehow crossed him up with a jaguar kick. It was possibly the wildest thing that anyone has ever seen. Between that and the fuzzy guard tech that he's got, his adon is such a nightmare.

I might play this computer game again tonight.

I played last night on ranked for a couple of hours, met an old adversary from when I was mostly playing Vega. He used to main Ryu and regularly kicked my arse until I got the hang of Vega a bit and evened things up. Anyhoo looks like since then he's decided to try Vega cos he's now almost got him up to B rank - I'd like to think my pinked-out yodelling shenanigans won him over. My Cody did him over but then he reverted to Ryu. Streetfightin'!

After that I had a couple of matches against a really solid Gen. Got a msg from him asking if they'd been laggy (which they had but they'd been fun) and then he invited me into a lobby where we had a nice set. I was kind of conscious that I've got a handfull of characters with enough BP to look like I know what I'm doing when I don't whereas he had no more than 100 BP with anyone but was landing all kinds of fancy stuff. It was fun but after about 15 matches he left without a word.

Yes, that was mad. Not as mad as Sanford v Mike Ross though, which was just mindblowing.

I am going to try to not play this game at all between now and Heggfest.

I have a lot to look forward to it seems. I've finally finished the UFGT8 archive and am into North West Majors now. So many tournaments.

My favourite thing in pools at NWM was John Choi beating PR Balrog with the purest of fundamentals.He'll get blown up by dive kick characters and Viper/Seth bullshit and Ibuki vortexes and all that gimmickry, but if you give him straight up Ryu vs Balrog he can make PR Balrog (who is just ridiculously good) look like a total rookie. PR Rog's footsies are some of the best around in terms of new players as well, and I don't think I've ever seen him eat so many sweeps in a two out of three set. Choi/Valle/Daigo in a Ryu mirrors round robin series would be the greatest thing.

Just watch the first round if nothing else:

You don't ever see PR Rog get absolutely schooled like that. At the end of the set he just slumped back in his chair and laughed.

NWM also had a great mix of players who you don't see at every major. 801Strider and Iperu from Utah, the NorCal crowd (including Buktooth and John Choi) and Hsien Chang and TW Arthur from Texas. LapChi from Canada Cup also travelled and made top 8. That guy has improved a lot over the past couple of years.

Also Allystarr we must play Marvel soon. I have new Captain America combos and a reset of my own design that I must show you.

Yes, mike ross v sanford was just completely unexpected and ridiculous. I know that mike put a lot of work in against good japanese sagats (of which there are many) to try and get that matchup down, since it's one of Honda's worst, but to school sanford like that was quite unexpected. He just immediately walked him into the corner and then started hitting him and hitting him. And so many walk up ochios!

It was the stand fierce to super that got me. When he did that against (IIRC) Fuudo that time it was a late cancel, a real hit confirm, but this one was instant, just a fucking read through and through. Sanford was completely mindfucked by that, never stood a chance once it happened.
