Yo, Hegg, what weekends would be viable for you? Is it looking like an August thing now?

I haven't got round to booking any hols yet, so if you guys can settle on something soon that suits the lot of you, it's all good this end.

Literally the ideal host in every way.

Haggar suggested avoiding summer sporting events, so I think we were looking at the second half of August.

Votes for 18th or 25th of August, anyone? I can do either.

I can do either August dates as far as I can tell and I too would like to bagsy Haggar's as I imagine Nate and I will make the pilgrimage together. So long as that is acceptable with the mayor himself of course.

Congrats Nate!

I think all of August is good for me except the first weekend. I don't actually play Street Fighter any more, but that doesn't matter, right?

I've just gone past Heggland on a night bus.

+1 for alistarr joining the 100% club. I'll never be one of those guys.

I have a preference for the 18th of August for Heggfest because the 25th is very close to my birthday. Mine is the 29th and my housemate's is the 28th, so we tend to do celebratory things during the last two weekends of August. I would also like to once again take up Haggar on his kind offer of accomodation.

Also UFGT is the best of the American tournaments that isn't Evo. If I lived in America it's the one I'd go to above all the others as it has so many fun events and side games you don't see anywhere else. Also by all reports it's the one that runs the smoothest in terms of bracket timings etc. because Keits is an organisational demi-god of sorts.

Additional also, the Xbox live Indie game "Hidden in plain sight" is AMAZING. I want this to be played at Heggfest as much as all the fighting games. I played it with a few friends this evening and ended up spending four solid hours on it. Probably premature to say it, but it feels like it would become a local multiplayer staple on a par with Saturn Bomberman, Mario Kart, Smash Bros. and Deathtank.

In the course of doing the last dozen of those trials I learned things about parts of my psyche I didn't even know where there. I possibly even learned how to practice combos.

HIPS looks curious.

They were playing Bushido Blade when they switched from mystery games to SF4 last night at UFGT8, which is a game I've always wanted to play but never bothered to track down.

Hidden in Plain Sight looks amazing. Just watched a video on youtube of the man who made it talking about it. Looks tremendous fun; I've always loved that concept of decieving other players like in The Ship and that other one witht he sniper party thing. Never played them though. They've always reminded me a bit of Spy vs Spy as well, which I've played literally once, and loved, on the Master System, when I was about nine.

I also love how the lovely developer man keeps talking about everyone having a lot of fun and laughing and yelling and having a good time. He's a good man.

Also; Gawn yersel Ale I stir!

Yeah, Mr. Spragg seems like a gent. He's also responded to in the commnents of numerous online reviews of the game, not to argue with the reviewers but to explain anything they found questionable and just chatting about the game.

The game has been criticised for being local multiplayer only, but I agree with his assessment that it just wouldn't have the same charm played any other way. It's like with Bomberman, where you can play it online and mechanically it functions the same, but for me personally it isn't even half as fun as six people getting drunk and tripping over Saturn controller cables.

Aside from the hilarity and the (whisper it) social aspect of playing it locally, with HIPS I think it would affect the gameplay as well. Reading people's faces and reactions is a part of the game, as are simple tricks you'd use in any bluffing game like thinking out loud and whatever other misdirection you can think of. I understand that people don't necessarily have the luxury of always having three like-minded people on hand to play the game, but even that reasoning (which might make, say, a full Rock Band kit more difficult to justify) is offset quite well by the fact that HIPS costs a mere 80 Microsoft points. I feel like it paid for itself in the one session I've had with it so far.

Get it and force people to play it with you and have many laughs.

Imagine it had online and people had mechanically precise strategies for it and ragequit and stuff. It's all about holding the controller right up against your chest so Martin can't peek and looking at Jim's controller only to find he's holding it under a cushion. And radlord losing and going into big wild huffs.

I like how simple it all is. Probably a good few ideas that could be expanded upon on something like the Wii U as well and it's extra controller layer of mystery and deception.

Congrats Nate! I love this thread, all constantly surprising me with how awesome you all are.

Also horse noises to Mr. Al for last night's little session, in which he mainly beat me. Fun as ever though!

Oh yeah, thanks! I was delighted to find you were still online because I needed to play some triumphant games after finishing the trials. Cammy vs Bison was especially fun.

Hey Nate, when's the next issue of edge out? I'm looking forward to that one. I read it for the articles.

June 6, I think. All you need do is check the inside back cover of the current issue though, because you obviously have it as you buy it every single month, right? Right?
