Ultra Street Fighter IV

Had some brief but fun games on this last night with Misters JoeplusPies, Donut boy, Goemon and Sith. Joeplus was trickin' with Cody traps all over, though I don't think I actually got to play against your Cody myself because took tyrant position. I still hate Donut's Makoto as much as ever also.

Ended up playing a decent amount of games against Sith afterward also, and that dastardly THawk of his. He also intoduced me to the lovely trick of kinda air-dashing forward after a blocked EX Condor Dive, and keeping the pressure on. Made me wanna get some Hawk time in. Even though I will almost certainly have SFxTekken today and will not play this game ever again.

Also also, I wandered into ranked with my frankly horrible rushdown Honda. It's hard to cope with zoney Ryu and Akuma players. Some guy called ceejaytheman beat me and sent me a message that said "you're amazing bro lol ;) ", so he got a "you too kid! x!" back. I did manage to land cr.lk, cr.lk > cr.lp x h.hands xx Super though. Which completely made up for the fact I lost every other match due to saving meter for that, or dropping the links. 5% success is still success.

Also, I actually popped into training with Honda to practice the jab hands panic free: I hadn't known you could link a cr.jab after a cr.mk, which is good to know because all those times my punish was nothing but a cr.lk into failure can be a cr.mk into failure instead. MOAR DAMAGE.

My SFxT is being prepared for dispatch for delivery tomorrow... The Brady Games guide due for delivery Monday. Perversely another book I pre-ordered at the same time is still released on Monday but now apparently won't get here until next Saturday.

Played a few games yesterday afternoon, but noone from the forums was around at the time. Had my usual 'Headset on but Mic muted' which resulted in the weird echo of someone else playing the game, and a guy (whose tag escapes me) who sounded like Elmo on Speed. I played him twice (as Dan and Juri) and both times was both unnerved and entranced by the seemingly randomly psychotic childlike babble coming out of his mouth. It only broke once when I got the upper hand against his M. Bison with Dan. I don't think it was aimed at me per se, as he seemed to mostly be talking to himself. I like to think of him as being sat on a beanbag sewn from the skin of Jehovas Witnesses who've dared to ring his bell, with a crown made of crushed Jolt and Mountain Dew Cans.

I also got to play the dullest Ken in the world (Jump HK, Sweep, Jump HK, Sweep, Fireball, Fireball, Fireball...) Which was.... actually no. It wasn't nice.

Will be online from about 5-5:30pm today, hoping to hit up a few people into the early evening and finally get some rounds in against JoePlus, who I believe is hiding in fear from my Dan.

If you trade in two games at Gamestation before the 15th you get an extra fiver.

Speaking of the nation's most strugglingest specialist videogame retailer, I just did pretty well out of the preowned sale.

Battle Fantasia £2.99

Guilty Gear 2 Overture £1.99

Blazblue CT £1.99

And some other boring non-fighty stuff. Eight games for under £20.

Cheers for the games Joffo! Really enjoyed them. I'm bloody awful with everyone except T-Hawk now, I couldn't even link crMK > Hadouken on a regular basis last night :(

Hopefully we'll catch each other on Streetfighter VS Tekken Lyrical!

I was looking for DoDonPachi as well. No luck. I got Deathsmiles for a fiver though.

Deathsmiles is awesomeness. Partly because it's one of the few shooters I've 1CC'ed (I have YouTube evidence somewhere), but mostly because of the awesome system and the ace presentation.

I have loads of Gamestation credit to burn but nothing in mind that I particularly want so I'll probably stock up on PSN credit and XBL space points...

Some good games against Joe earlier. Utterly sucked in the first few rounds but started to find my groove and annoy with Dan. Failed to impress with Rufus and had a bit of fun with other characters.

Went on to play some Ranked matches, worked up both my Juri and Dan a bit including a few surprising victories over much higher ranked players. My favourite being a best of 5 against Akuma as Juri that came right down to the final slivers of the health on the final round.

My SFxT has apparently been dispatched. A pox upon Lyrical Donut, who was flaunting his SFxT all over my Friends list... :P

Edit: Dropped to the third page... time for some music.

A whole day without any posts, for shame with all of you sucking up to the new tart in town.

Well I have been fooling around with SFXT but the day before I was in a lobby with some peeps off her and I managed a perfect with Elf, for some reason my mix up was right my execution didn't fail me and oh my it was a beautiful thing (I am over playing this a bit but I doubt I will ever manage it again). I then went on to get slapped around but my mind was elsewhere by then :)

I do like Elf for all the work you have to put in and the times I start a round well only to loose the pressure due to my dodgy execution and then fail to capitalise on a healthy life lead is a common occurrence. RSF needs to be practiced but this is really tricky for my so HK > his anti air I think is easier for me at the moment.

I still really like Dan but when I get in the zone with Elf he really is like no other character.

There's a chance that I'll be rocking a public lobby this evening - I didn't know for certain if I'd end up getting a new TV today and so I held off getting Strexen, but after a two week absence I'm back... and with all the LIGHTWEIGHTS flocking around the new kid I'll be left with the mentalists who play nothing but SFIV. Which means I'm going to get destroyed.

No posts today? Then I will regale you with my Elf'ings. Four wins today out of about 12 matches on ranked (well it may have been a few more) and now I have around 700 BP which is nice. I'm still not any better but I'm trying to run away less and keep up with the pressure when my execution doesn't fail me :)

I like Elf but by god is he hard work especially against the shotos.

I had a terrible time in ranked last night, only one win out of x amount of games (where x is large positive integer). So many close matches that I lost, luckly I managed to blow of some steam with my Kuma in SFxT who hasn't been found out yet :) .

I'm only about 260 points away from my C rank but I just feels so out of reach at the moment but I will stand tall and get there (this year I hope :) ).

I wish Elf was in SFxT as I love to match him up with Kuma (obviously in Rainbow Mika's outfit)

I was pretty convinced that R. Mika would have made it into SFxT the way Ono was going on about her. I'm also surprised that Eddy Gordo didn't make it in, though I know little of his existance in Tekken beyond 3, he's the character everyone always seems to mention when talking about the game.

The do talk as if there are long term DLC milkin' plans in this though, so maybe there will be characters beyond those on the disc. I wouldn't mind that at all, even though I don't even feel confident with the characters I already know.

Also, had some wonderful and fun games against Alice Tar last night before din-dins; He chipped me out one round though with poison's EX uppercut thing... could I have activated Pandora as a reversal and survived?

Also also; Pandora doesn't seem to last long at all; should it only be used as a way to extend a combo enough to cause death? Or combined with decent gems to make you suddenly really, really dangerous? I don't really see it much. I do keep going for Pandora KOs if I feel the chance is there though.

EDIT: Uh... yeah. I'll just ctrl+v that elsewhere.

So Ayano's blogged about the local co-op on 360. Missed it first time, but Svensson says they're not going to patch it.

http://www.capcom-un...:_online_update

Secondly, we’ve been asked by some players of the Xbox 360 version about the 4-player co-op mode and why it doesn’t work when two players team up (locally) and attempt to play online. Unfortunately, due to time and resource issues, we weren’t able to get that feature into the Xbox 360 version and we apologize to those players who were looking forward to it. Throughout the development process, there are times when new features are added (and we added a lot of them!) and there are also times where we have to make tough decisions regarding things to cut. This was one of those times. This mode is supported in the PlayStation 3 version, however, since we tackled that earlier and found the architecture of their system to be more conducive to implementing it. This is the most content we’ve ever packed into a Street Fighter game, so we hope that there are plenty of other modes and features to keep everyone busy for a long time.

With that said, we have some information regarding new updates for Street Fighter X Tekkencoming up soon, so we’ll keep you posted!

Perhaps if Ono wasn't trotting the globe taking part in mince pie contests while wearing a Santa outfit they could have got it in there.
