Cheers for the game Qazi, not only where they fun but you really cheered my up after being ritually humiliated in ranked with my poor old elf. It was just nice to have some fun with the game for a change :) Ranked really isn't fun for a poor Elf.

Likewise; had some awesome games this evening with Haggar, Plop and jatpool. Annoyed everyone with Blanka spam and Gief grapples and had lots of fun with the other characters too. Plop's Fuerte is pretty awesome when it's up against people like me who still don't know how to play against him. :D

EDIT: apologies to everyone who I hit whilst they were taunting; I did my best to offer free punches to balance things. :P

Let's all have plus ones. I should have watched one of the many film recommendations from the last couple of pages rather than Triangle just now, not bad but it turns out it's exactly the same film as Timecrimes which I watched the other week.

GGs Donut and your friend! Really enjoyed that. I was drinking cider beforehand and throughout so combos were out of the question but I think I'm getting a feel for this a bit. I still do utterly stupid things when I panic, but I'm panicking a bit less now.

Amused that I got a win with Gen when I randomed just for giggles (I hate Gen so much), then got him again! And Donut slapped me to rights.

As the 2 people who use google+ are already aware, last week I started work on making an all button controller. It is now complete. I've only had 10 minutes on it so I am still struggling with basics, like jumping left... 360s are mega easy, you can even hit them by going right, left, down, up+punch. I couldn't get a 720 out at all, so I'll be using ultra 2 until I work that one out. I need to totally relearn the game now.

In the SF2 days I was a pad user who mained the shotos. I missed out on SF3 (the shame) and jumped into SF4 with a stick on day 1. I couldn't get my head around the transition from pad to stick, so I chose a grappler to learn with so any old muscle memory wouldn't get in the way. Now I have a new control method I'm thinking of starting again with a new character, perhaps someone with a super jump, being able to go down, up in 1 frame is a bit good.

Anyway, I really wan't to play more, but I'm suffering from epic man flu and I want to go to sleep.

Oh, before I pass out, I did check:

No, you can't advance and block at the same time, and no, you can't walk forward with a back charge held, one input overrides the other.

Wasn't there a big controversy on SRK about hitboxes which led to a dude testing one with a bunch of games and finding that some games allow you to block in both directions at once when you're using one? But yeah, I don't think SF4 was one of those games.*

Disappointing that you might be dropping Hakan, but I guess it's rllmuk tradition to only use characters while they suck. Maybe you should look into the twins given that you missed 3s? ;-)

*A bit of reading suggests MVC3 allowed you to block both ways, but I'm not sure if they fixed it for UMVC3, and that the biggest manufacturer of those kinds of controllers patched their controllers to stop it happening.

You got it. I wanted one after seeing this:

GC, that's absolutely mental but I love it. It must feel weird without diagonals though, having to time presses/releases when doing circular motions... though I guess you get used to it over time.

Back on topic, if I ever arranged a live tournament featuring the best players from two big fighting game franchises, I'd call it Qaz Assault. DYSWIDT?
