My hopes and dreams for evo are:

Ryan Hart and Louffy to make an impact. Smug to make at least top 32. Momochi to take team NBK (nice bit o'Ken) to new heights. Hungbee, Itazan or Native to take Tomas to top 32. Bonchan to make top 8. At least one or two players in top 16 who haven't been there before/wouldn't have been anybody's pick to advance. Snake Eyez, PR Rog or another world class American player to do heroic stuff. Somebody, anybody, making sure Kazunoko doesn't win as that would be a dreadfully dull result.

I want it to be full of delicious surprises like the World Cup, only more so. What would be the equivalent of the Brazil 1-7 Germany semi-final? Daigo getting double-perfected by Tokido in the top 4?

Apologies in advance if this sets me off on a chain of elaborate football metaphors.

Definitely hoping for big things from Louffy now that his character's so strong, yup. And I want Momochi to go far for obvious reasons. Ryan too.

Continuing with the World Cup theme, it's important that the host nation has something to cheer about until the latter stages, so I hope Rog or someone goes all the way. Still think Top 8 is going to be stacked with Japanese, though. Is Sakonoko there again this year? Reckon it'll be him and Kazunoko in Grand Finals if so, their characters are just so strong.

So someone misinformed me that the twitch plan to fly kojiKOG to Evo had fallen through, so it was a joy to see him show up on stream and do what he does best against an unsuspecting Chun. The Tomas army is so strong this year!

Am I right that Sunday is only Finals, i.e. top 4 and not top 8? I don't know if I like that, would be nice to have some buildup immediately before the big finale. I can't remember if that's how it was in previous years.

Sunday is still top 8 Joe, don't worry.

KSK has been my favourite thing about evo so far. No combos, just getting beat up for most of the first game and then entirely outguessing his opponent for the next four rounds. And he looks so happy while he's doing it.
