Ultra Street Fighter IV

JLM

Recommended Posts

Took Chun and Rufus for a spin on Super and was surprised to get my Tenpeat. Swear I had that already.

Since it's free at the mo the quality of opponents is way down, plus I guess all the SERIAAS folk have gone to Ultra.

I noticed they changed how the game name appears on the Now Playing list on Live to "StreetFighter IV", when did that happen?

Just encountered the mysterious SFO Dragonman in ranked. He was rockin' Ken so I'm not sure who it was, but he did taunt at the start so it may well have been Jellum. I lost, of course. I juggled an anti-air lp.koryuken with Ultra 2 and it only did two hits, which was odd. Probably a distance thing. I should have did an air EX.dankicks before trying to tag the ultra on after anyway.

Had some good but brief games against yer man Alistarr there. That snake strike is just so useful against Hugo; at one point an EX Snake Strike beat my EX Backbreaker! I might rewatch the match to see exactly what the scenario was but I had to duck out for dinner. I got utterly Rufus'd by some of those antics. Lovely divekick SPD baitin' too.

Looking forward to making use of the state load feature in training mode once I get a good few hours with the game.

We need to do an online training session at some point - it seems like it might be really useful to help grind out some of those matchup-specific things that you only get to experiment with once or twice every few games if you're playing matches, and therefore take forever to figure out. For example I wonder if non-EX backbreaker beats non-EX snake strike or not, and whether or not you can get a SPD punish if you block snake strike and I land, etc. We shall learn all these things at some point.

Also thank you again for my steam sale present! I will be speedrunnin' just as soon as I get around to taking an evening away from street fightin'!

i assume that was ghost as i haven't bee dragonmaning this evening.

I gave Savant his account back with Tomas on 42 wins from 47, then last night went on the dragonhawk trail. Dragonman Tomas is now top 70 and climbing and I have some lovely replays to show you all soon. Will have to bust him out at SFO on Sunday for sure. Hit a nice rhythm of losing the first round and then using what I've learnt to win the next two. He is such a joy to play in this version. i want a t-shirt with him in a trucker hat that says 'keep on truckin' at pitstop 109" because going on streaks at the pitstop with Tomas is my favourite thing. 19 in ranked is the score to beat!

I'm coming up to SFO on Sunday with a few of the Merseyside Salt crew. We need to get our shit together in Liverpool a bit better, there's a huge gulf between guys like me and the likes of Fuzzy and Gunslinga.

Early days though, just getting to play SF4 offline at ALL is awesome.

I always wondered and will be doing see in the foreseeable future, why if one is angry at another player does one not focus and explain why they are angry instead of slinging misspelt slang around. Or even better, be passive aggressive and tell me that you had had no idea the character I won with has only two attacks.

But in the case above, I am sure the misspellings are on purpose. After all, Venamous Viper.

Venamous viper kicks Dragonman on sight so we don't get rage from him any more :(.

Had a guy rage quit on dragonman yesterday. We sent "gg friend :)" anyway, and he then sent a message asking for advice on how to get better. I liked the kid's moxie.

Also Dragonman Hawk is number 20 in the galaxy now. No chance of ever troubling Incognitus for number 1, but the aim is to get past Hungbee, Itazan and Native Impact amongst others to sneak into the top 9.

I've found that to be the case in a lot of games which aren't Street Fighter IV. Darkstalkers in particular. Even Street Fighter II to an extent.

I found the combos, when I got them to work, to be extremely satisfying in KoF XIII. A beautiful looking game too. I'm absolutely hopeless at it, of course. Jellum and I had some fun matches at Hypespotting.
