I went into thread lockdown after the first day of AE pools last year emerging about 10 days later post-archive catch up. I watched all of AE, Marvel top 8 (so, so, so hype), KOF top 8 and Persona top 8 (didn't understand a thing). Also tried to watch Smash which I decided wasn't for me and I think I watched Strekken top 8 but can't be sure.

I imagine I'll do the same thing again this year too.

I've got the Friday and Monday off work and have packed my housemates off to their parents' house for the weekend. I could probably accommodate a world warrior (or indeed more than one) if anyone was casting around for a way to waste what's almost guaranteed to be the sunniest weekend of the year. We could play towerfall during the button checks.

Is it wrong to take the Monday off work because I'll be up til like 3am watching fightman games?

Booked it off pretty much as soon as the dates were announced. Of course I've told colleagues it's to recover from a stag do in Amsterdam or something.

Watching the latest batch of Excellent Adventures. Looks like Imstilldadaddy was top of the online rankings when they had a quick look? I was sad they didn't talk about him but I guess they don't know about his house.

He got a shout out on Next Level Battle Circuit the other week though, in reference to the sort of high level Guile experience Ryan Hart might have prior to fighting Dieminion. Ultradavid mentioned OverMostHeads on stream the other day too, though it was clear that he didn't really know who he was. Things are messed up when imstilldadaddy has transatlantic fame and he doesn't. We must get OMH out to more tournaments.

GGs to alistarr, imp and Curtis yesterday :) I still can't play Ibuki without going nuts with kazegiris and everything else, and Curtis' Hugo is still as brutal as anything. Playing T. Hawk against alistarr and imp's Giefs was also good fun. :D I might be around again sometime if any more fights are happening...

IMO OMH is by far a better player than imstilldadaddy and gunslinga from my limited experience of playing them - never stood a chance against OMH but took rounds off the other two. Gunslinga's guy gimmicks would get destroyed at high level as would his over use of wake up tatsu

Hugo being brutal has nothing to do with me controlling him. Lol. It's his awesome normals and ridiculous damage output. Plus his big hair.

The hair is too intimidating; it needs it's own spot on the tier list.

OT, can someone post/make/tweet a pun about Claw being viable despite various balance changes that incorporates "we'll always have Vegas" as a punchline? I got nothing.

Momochi is a beast.

Got some offline play this weekend against the local Chun player. Long sets are the best, reading a hazanshou and ex birdkick wakeup and catching them both with DeKappas airthrow.

Was on the receiving end of an equally great read when he switched to Hugo, triple dash on my delayed wakeup into Ultra 2 to catch my backdash, oof.

Finally completed Hexagonest yesterday, which means I've unlocked the sheer terror of Hyper Hexagonest. Somehow managed 20 seconds on my third go, haven't got close to it since. :(

Getting much more consistent at Hyper Hexagoner though, I'll have that one cracked before long.

I'm home and have installed Ultra :)

Played a few games, won most of them but I now suck with Hawk lol. I keep forgetting the new motion for Condor Spire and that Cr.Mk is now special cancellable.

Anyone on tonight?

Just played imp and his wild, wild Rolento for a whole bunch of matches which kicked off with a perfect on my poor Hugo. From there it was all about figuring out the setups, made difficult as ever by the devious imp mixing things up thoroughly. He also has Blanka's horrible ability to roll quickly forward with a move which is not only tricky to punish, it also breaks armour. With that, his backroll armour-break swipe and his multi-hit jump ins, I think Rolento may be my ultimate nemesis.

Those pogo-hop confirms into cr.mk (?) EX Rekkas > Extra somethin' were delightfully infuriating. I quite liked playing the matchup. It seems dangerous for all parties involved.
