Ultra Street Fighter IV

JLM

Recommended Posts

My Ultra plan would be something like:

Day -1: AE farewell lobbies on 360, probably with randoms as everyone's on PS3, but whatevs.

Day 1: dabble in arcade mode with the new characters (or if game invites are sent, impromptu lobbying will happen) - inevitably ditch Juri in favour of a new main

Day 2: Begin lab work with a page of changes open on my phone beside me. Also set up PVR and record impractical red focus abuse. Change mains again...

Day 3: Try out Suicide Mode, a new variant of arcade mode where I play as Juri and parry all of the things before getting killed in one hit thanks to focus armour properties

Day 4: weekend lobbyings, etc

(Day three-hundred-and-something: finally get around to getting a PS3, new Fightpad, et al)

Oh, also, Super Turbo grand finals yesterday was Fuzzy against a guy whose name I forget but is the self-proclaimed best ST player in the country. The other guy was in Winners', Fuzzy reset the bracket 3-0 and the other dude left immediately. The tournament organiser ran out of the venue after him to tell him that the set wasn't finished, he could still win and he should at least take his second place prize money if he was conceding, but this guy was having none of it and went home in a huff. I quite enjoyed it.

Back on topic:

Food people from The London! That girl I like who lives in my house has had to go overnight for a work thing in London and is staying in the Strand area; any foodie recommendations for a quick yet excellent munch? Probably relatively late evening.

Benitos Hat for Burritos, down on New Row. Unless she's american in which case she might have had better, I think they're the best one still open in London

UK FGC certainly seems to attract some special cases. I'm lucky that the mersey mob are laid back drunks for the most part :P

She is american with mexican grandparents but she likes all sort of texmex, even that horrible "ricos" cheese they serve at the cinema as nachos. I'm sure that's the place Carlito and Haggar always went on about so I'll recommend it!

I've eaten there very sober and very drunk and it's never not delivered the goods. One of my mates did once fall entirely unconscious in a bowl of Nachos though, might have had more to do with the Duvel than the pico de gallo.

What is going on with those weird EX jump cancel things on the car stage?

From the YT comments:

When you do an attack that makes you air born off the car to the other side it resets your animation to a regular landing animation instead of the move you did.

It's up on the console too.

Just go to add-ons - super sfiv ae and it's in the list. I've just D/L it and it's added a 25meg patch on top. I'm going in!

No sign of those pre-order costumes unfortunately but the SFXT ones are there.

Mans posting about Poison on SRK, some highlights:

Close St.mp -> cr.hp xx MK DP FADC ultra 1 (non double and fully stocked) is 531 damage!

Ultra 2 is 510 damage

st.mp -> st.mk/cr.mk/cr.hp/MK DP work as a link

cr.mk xx LP fireball FADC cr.HP into whatever works, but not from max range of cr.MK.

He seems to think the cr.lp to st.mk link is 2 frames..

Downloaded! First thing I try and do is keepaway divekick shenanigans with Juri...

Light, Medium, Heavy Shikusen (Dive Kick): Cannot be performed when jumping backwards

Oooops. Adapting is going to be harder than I thought.

EDIT: having more fun than expected with the characters I didn't think I'd get on with; the likes of Poison, Elena and Rolento have all sorts of funky shenanigans, and SF4 input lenience actually makes Elena feel a bit better than in SFIII :P Hugo's pretty decent but hella slow and a massive target, and Decapre's good fun but the charge Ultra commands will probably see me get killed :P

EDIT 2: dat BP/PP reset :( I still think I'm going to be an endless lobby monster and permanently have no points...
