Thanks - gave it a quick try just now and to be honest I'm not sure I have the patience to practice the piano motion! I had reasonable success with doing slides but I can't do a piano motion fast enough, so I'll probably just hope the slide works out okay with her.

That's cool. However, if you wanna try again try adjusting your fingers to be flatter, so you're using the pads of your fingers rather than the tips. Hover your fingers directly over the buttons: distance wastes time. (My main problem seems to be having my middle finger starting too high which wastes too much time). I use lp hp mp lp hp. It's a light tap, just enough to engage the microswitch, and it's faster than you think it should be. However, like any technique: less haste more speed, and speed only comes from practice.

It's a truely wonderful feeling when it works.

I might pick up another Gold sub for this, but I always end up wishing for things that characters don't have. I'd really like Rog's cr.MP to force stand, because his one-time-trademark counter-rush game isn't scary compared to his Turbo outing. Nerf him elsewhere, just give him grounded EX loops against crouchers!

I got Tekken Tag 2 pretty much when it came out, too. I played it quite a bit I guess; about 30 hours? I still didn't really have any idea what I was doing. Mostly just waiting for an opportunity to punish with my fastest launcher and dressing up my men as flamboyantly as possible.

I'll likely buy it for a fiver. Yes.

I'm actually very excited about all the new combo trials we'll be able to huff about in Ultra.

I'm saving my remaining xbox pennies in hope of a capcom fighting games sale - I want Jojo's, Darkstalkers and MvC Origins, and I want to pay a lot less than they currently cost! No real intention of playing any of them.

Thanks for the piano tips, Ig - I'll probably try it again another time. It's so demoralising to think that I used to be able to competently play an actual piano and now I struggle to hit three buttons in the right order to make a few yellow beams of light disappear.

Yooooooo Rufus just got tings! When I saw the first bulletpoint I was already delighted because it suggests some small chance my BnB will finally work on effing Blanka. The second is entirely unexpected.

  • Close Standing HP hitbox expanded downward
  • EX Messiah Kick less likely to cross over even when hitting low-state opponents; invincibility time reduced by 3 frames (16F → 13F); all hits connect against airborne opponents; floats opponents differently on hit

Poor Dieminion. Guile also lost the 1 frame link from jab into U1 but it looks like the excellent autocorrect is staying. I think you'll be fine!

Anyway, aside from the Rufus buffs, these are the things I think are most interesting compared to the arcade release:

  • Cody got faster walk speed and can cancel into knife pickup in the same way he can into rock pickup.
  • Dhalsim's f+HP now comes out in 5 frames rather than 7.
  • Dudley rolling thunder is ridiculous.
  • Fuerte's quesadilla bomb now charges to level 3 in 180 frames rather than 300.
  • Ken can cancel DP on the second hit but it's now -7 on block if he dashes forward.
  • Oni got 950 health and a hard knockdown on DP FADC (given delayed wakeup, is this a buff compared to soft knockdown or not?)
  • Zangief got better range on U1

Nothing for Rose that we didn't already know about, I don't think. I'm still not sure what I think about the combined buff/nerf for EX Spiral, seems like it'll make life harder for her against grapplers, who I already hate. However it does mean Haggar can't stuff it with Ryu's cl.hk anymore. Ha.

Sadly I don't think I'll actually be able to travel oop North if there's fightings happening around release. Really gotta save money wherever I can at the moment because this summer is shaping up as way expensive.

Interestingly, there was a load of talking about the fact that there is one more build left before the console release. I believe even Combofiend mentioned it in a podcast. But now they've released this Changelog before any further builds. Hmmm.
