On the 360, should I ignore the install disc then or do you have to do it?

Or was that don't install tip about installing the game disc (when you go into game details on the dash)

You have to install the "Install" disc.... the game constantly streams data from that installation. Then it's a choice of how you want to play the "Play" disc:

1) In the optical drive - loud and hot, but recommended

2) Install it to HDD - data streaming issues caused by the HDD seeking from two sources at once, not recommended

3) Install it to a USB stick - should be equal performance to playing it from disc

On another note... I complained about people who talk about this, but fuck it.... COME ON, POSTIE! The post is usually around 1pm-3pm in these parts. I'm ready to go. Come on. I hate the sinking feeling of, "Will it come today at all?"

They're saying that the FPS is barely perceptible. As in you need benchmarking tools to notice it.

I'm willing to bet that the silent majority aren't really so fussed about 360 pad vs dualshock3 - me included, and so nicer textures, free multiplayer and quieter machine make PS3 the obvious choice, at least in my opinion.

Precisely why I went PS3 this time around. I want to play GTA Online without having to pay Microsoft to do it.

Your TV setup will make precisely fuck all difference to anti aliasing.

Sorry! It was late last night / this morning :)

I actually meant messing with the Xbox rather than the TV. At full 1080p it was quite horrendous. 720p was better. 1080i was even better.

But I've decided to go with my VGA lead now.

HDMI at 1080p

VGA lead

The VGA washes it about a bit but is smoother for me!

You're right, that is horrendous. Which setting makes it go the right way up?

(Couldn't resist, sorry ;))

Edit -- damn, a ninja edit fixed the rotation. Now I appear to be quite the fool.

Did a mission, stole a new car and 'Baker Street' was on the radio, drove around a short while with the music and realised I was around the corner from Franklin's house. Sun was coming up as I was waiting for the garage door to open, just as the song reached this part:

And when you wake up it's a new morning

The sun is shining it's a new morning
You're going
You're going home.

That's my first great 'Perfect GTA Moment' within a couple of hours

It was great timing because I was just hitting that 'I'm overwhelmed! I don't no what I should do!' part of an open world game, and now I want to do nothing but walk around for a while.

Really? Changing to 720p makes it better? Can anyone else confirm this?

This shouldn't be a shock for a game that's native res is 720p (1280x720). Quite a few games have issues being forced at 1080p, such as Lost Planet 2. I've always set my dash to be 720p to avoid stuff like this, I think from memory there was only one true native 360 game at 1080p and it was Virtual Tennis. Everything else is 720p or lower.

It's all part of the fun.

I don't even know why I'm looking in here while at work, the last few hours have just crawled by

Incidentally, are there are any planned social club rllmuk server type shenanigans planned? I've convinced the missus to go on her own to her mates party over Saturday night. Woot!

GTA get! Game still seemed quite busy when I went in this afternoon so there weren't as many empty shelves and disappointed faces as I first thought, but I had a preorder anyway, so yay. I had about £60 store credit I'd been hanging on to for months for this game, so it's nice to finally get hold of it. Oh, and I had to ban myself from this thread when people started getting their copies early, but now I can't wait to jump in. :D

This is incorrect - there's plenty of stuff running at 1080p. Generally not AAA titles, mind.

What issues did you have with LP2? Just the usual MT Framework bullshit?

Online doesn't go live until Oct 1st. Tell her mate to keep the party going.
