roskelld
Are they the extra scenes that were added to the episode ?
Chadruharazzeb
Thought the latest episode was pretty good, the charades scene brought a few genuine lols. Which is nice. Overall it was more like an ep from series 2, and it finally looks like Craig Charles has remembered how to play Lister. How many episodes this series? Even though I've read Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers more times than anything else I need reminding of something - why is it that Rimmer was charged with fixing the drive plate in the first place? I thought his responsibilities were the vending machines, soap dispensers etc.
merman
Six episodes in the series. Don't confuse book and series. Book says Rimmer was not responsible. Series flips between him being only technician available to help, and him assuming the guilt (Inquisitor)
Chadruharazzeb
Don't confuse book and series. Book says Rimmer was not responsible. Ah yes of course. He was meant to be in stasis himself at the time wasn't he (but was late because he was trying to throw a ball of paper in the bin).
FishyFish
It wasn't just me that thought that then. One really odd section is where they stand in front of a wall which has a load of rotating fans in and bright lights behind the fans. And yet, there are no shadows cast on the actors stood in front of them. I'm fairly certain that those fans are real, otherwise they wouldn't bother adding the piece of string that can be visibly seen powering them.

dumpster
There does seem to be overuse of greenscreen and virtual sets - some scenes look like the cast are acting in front of a paused video image of the original show - but I've heard from more than one source now about the sets being rebuilt, using cultery trays from IKEA. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/10/03/five-reasons-to-stop-worrying-and-look-forward-to-red-dwarf-x/
Mr Ben
In the last episode, will we finally find out what happened in-between series 8 and now?
Lorfarius
Wouldn't have thought so. The series always glosses over and forgets about previous ones.
Andy_Why
In the last episode, will we finally find out what happened in-between series 8 and now? The last episode is supposed to be about the gap between season 8 and now actually, but whether it'll make any sense is a whole other thing. MikeBeaver
Hmmmm, it's been an enjoyable series so far, quite happy with the way Dave have managed to get it going, not like the beeb were ever going to bring it back. Cab't say I have really noticed the greeb screen stuff, using "TVCatchup" on the Raspberrypi doesn't exactly get me the best picture in the world, so perhaps it has been a blessing. Looking forward to this evening's show and hopefully another new series. Mike..
Sponge
I'm fairly certain that those fans are real, otherwise they wouldn't bother adding the piece of string that can be visibly seen powering them. Eh? I'm not saying they aren't real, just that the actors aren't really stood in front of them. It's often the case that light and background don't match, like they could be stood in a corridor with a solid wall next them and yet there is mysterious and unseen light source on their side of their face, which often changes between camera angles too (light continuity, or lack of, really annoys me). Or, in the case of the fans, there's a clear light source behind them but no light/shadow being cast on them.
Dandy_Sephy
Hands down the best ep of RDX, even if it did bait and switch the 'missing' backstory
mdn2
That was utterly amazing and stupid at the same time. Easily the best episode of the series. Loved the explanation of the ending to Series VIII as well.
pulsemyne
That was awesome. Damn it could have made a great movie. It had loads of great bits, Io, Rimmer's dad (and he did look like the series 2 actor), young rimmer was really good, great gags, great effects (considering the budget. The series 8 bit was superb as well. Doug just loves messing with the fans.

JohnC
Bugger I must have missed the series eight bit then. What happened? The explanation kept getting interrupted, so we still don't know
Nicky
im in agreement with the praise, personally i thought it was one of the best red dwarfs for many a series. shame there wasnt any mention of gazpacho soup at rimmers last words

I mean it's not like they had already based an entire episode around his famous last words or anything
PK
I always thought the lack of continuity in Red Dwarf was a running joke about how anal about it sci-fi fans generally are.
pulsemyne
As I said I'm pretty sure Doug is doing it on purpose. Most sci fi series have continuity errors all over the place.

Mr Majestyk
That was a great series. I can only hope they make more and will be picking up the blu ray to add to the rest (I don't own back to earth, and wont until I see it for £2 :-)) Also, how awesome was Danny John-Jules? The guy was head and shoulders above everything in there, his delivery, expressions, all perfect. The explanation of the wibbly gun bit cracked me up.
El Pibe
Really enjoyed that. Gutted that the series is finished and really hope that we'll get some more next year!
Chadruharazzeb
Decent episode. As a fan of the novels I was delighted to finally see one of Rimmer's famously colourful and beautifully presented timetables.
Mentazm
First full series of Dwarf I've watched probably since series 4 or something, really liked them all... some more than others. A good return imo.
merman
Good but not great. Still, interesting to see how Rimmer develops in the next series, if there is one.
