Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead is in the deal today . It's a dual timeline story of a young female pilot in the 30s and 40s, who disappears circumnavigating the globe (that's not a spoiler btw) and the young actor who is playing her in a big budget movie 70 years later.

It's very good indeed and worth a few quid of anyone's money . It will be a film itself before long I very much imagine.

I haven't read them recently but I really enjoyed his older books like The Client, The Pelican Brief and The Rainmaker.

Most of them are extremely readable and I don't think he's ever written a poor book but of those I'd recommend the pelican brief , the street lawyer and an innocent man

Bukowski’s Post Office is the standout there…and a nice sort of companion piece to The Great Post Office Scandal, which considering how overused the word is these days, truly is a scandal of staggering proportions.

Was a big fan of how short and concise it was whilst still giving an extremely vivid sense of place, as Alexlotl said. Big contrast to the bloated Johnathan Strange.

How long have you not been able to buy Kindle books via the Amazon app? It says it can't sell them through the app due to a change in Google Play Store's terms. Ah, the joined-up internet, the future is here today etc.

A few months now I think. It's quite annoying! Also don't seem to be able to send them straight to Kindle as part of the buying process anymore, unless I'm being thick.

Circe by Madeline Miller in the daily deal today.  She wrote The song of Achilles which is a modern classic.

Circe is also  a retelling of Greek mythology and its very nearly as good as Song of Achilles. Its fabulous.

Went to buy Circe, found out I already have it AND Song of Achilles . I will move them to the top of my reading list!
