Persona 3 should be down to £11.99 on the store today according to the PSN blog! Cheapest it's ever been, and worth every penny.

Bought!

On Sunday, for £24, having finished Persona 4 on Saturday :(

The first and second Personas are cheap as well. Anyone played the first one? At £3.99, I'm thinking it might be worth a punt.

They're not very much like 3 or 4 and meant to be quite dull/grindy/hard. I'd avoid.

I think I have an unfinished save from the first game on one of my PSPs, but the game just goes way too far with its random battles; they're literally every few seconds. Throw in the slightly disorienting first-person corridor dungeons and you end up with a game where you're always trying to get your bearings and make a bit more progress before the next battle hits you. :(

The Persona 1 dungeons are an abortion of game design. I've not played the original version, just the psp version but you would have thought they would addressed the dungeons during the conversion process. Awful, hateful game design.

Shame because I was enjoying the story.

I gave up on Persona 1 PSP very quickly

I can imagine it being pretty hard to go back to a more 'traditional' RPG after experiencing the delights of Persona. That looks lovely though - is it actually any good?

Yes it is - tis lovely in fact - assuming you like JRPGs of course - it not going to change anyone's genre preferences a la PS4 but its a very good example of a JRPG.

Persona 3 Portable is a must-buy at that price. It's a very lovingly-shrunk down version of the original release of Persona 3 which adds a few of the usability features that Persona 4 introduced. It's also significantly darker than Persona 4 storywise, and a little less goofy overall (but not remotely as serious as most RPG characters/storylines tend to be).

The excellent Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is £11.99 in the sale as well. It's a more traditional rpg than Persona but I really enjoyed it.

I'd just like to chime in and echo these comments and highly recommend Trails in the Sky. It's a more traditional game in that it's a reasonably fantasy world styling with a turn based system somewhat akin to FF10 but what absolutely nails it is it has some really enjoyable characterisation and setting. The only complaint some have had is that it's a bit of a slow burn at the start - the plot takes a bit of growing before it gets to the good stuff but it all makes sense in a logical way.

If you're against the genre or the anime stylings (which only really carry over to some cutscenes anyway) it probably won't win you over but if you want another solid RPG to put on your system then you can't go wrong with this.

And then when you finish it, you can join the howling masses clamoring for the next two games in the trilogy along with the other two spin-off games. :(

Persona 2 is alright, the story is great and the actual battle mechanics are ok but weirdly it is far, far too easy. Like, ridiculously so. It makes all the random battles a bit of a chore.

I've read that the PSP remake of the first Persona 2 game was made to be easier than the original PS1 game for some reason. It's sequel - which unfortunately only got a release of the original PS1 version on the US PSN - is meant to retain the original difficulty.

I can only find the full game, with the "buy" option icon, no demo icon at all.

There's an issue with it at present, so it may have been taken down until it's fixed - basically, it didn't mention a demo at all, there were just two versions of the game - one costing money and one apparently for free, which was the demo version.

Bought the full game and Persona 3 PSP. Uber Vita times ahead.

Ah cheers, hopefully it'll be back up soon.

Where are people getting their Vita's from? Simply Games have the wifi version for £169 which seems pretty good, anyone found it cheaper? And to those that bought the 3G version, do you feel it was worth it?

It's worth looking into second-hand for a Vita. While we're all buying them, a lot of people who haven't heard of PS+ are trying to get rid of them.

I got one for £100 from someone at work (with 8Gb, Disgaea 3 and a soft case ...score!). Noob got one for a similar price (off eBay, I think???)

It'll be hard to find a deal like that but CEX has good prices. http://uk.webuy.com/product.php?catid=986&category_name=ps%20vita%20consoles?mode=buy ...weirdly, the 3G unboxed seems cheaper than the wifi unboxed :/

Actually, it's worth looking at CEX for memory too to save a few quid.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out. To be honest I'm willing to pay £170ish for the console just because of the amount of games I've got already thanks to PS+. It's just the added cost of the memory card that's the killer.
