Playstation Vita

Has anyone seen any reviews of Dead or Alive 5 on Vita yet? It's meant to be out on the 22nd and there has been a somewhat alarming hush around it.

The official site still says 22/3/13. It's cross play as well, which if well done will be cool. Can't see it being too different from the PS3 version really

Well it's difficult to know until it's out. While an embargo doesn't necessarily mean it's a shit game, it's hardly surprising when it does.

In the case of DOA5 the existing version is pretty good so they would have to make a spectacular clusterfuck for it to be a bad game.

Are there any games like Phoenix Wright or Hotel Dusk on the Vita (for a long time down the road when I've finished P4G)? Virtue's Last Reward looks interesting, any others?

Thats the closest you are going to get. All of the other Visual Novels seem to be more of the 'typical*' type that won't leave Japan.

*i.e. just story, no interaction

All they have to do it get a monster hunter on it, they already have MH 3rd Portable HD on the PS3 they could very very easily port it over to the PS Vita and then everyone in Japan would buy a vita. If it costs 10 million to port it just hand over the cash Sony, I bet Soul Sacrifice will be great but for Japanese folks its just not MH (me too!)

I am having to play an inferior MH3/Tri port on the 3DS in the next few weeks to get my fix and I bet a lot of Japanese players feel the same, the fact they added in the underwater section again that beg for a second stick is the icing on the cake. And the Cherry on top is that you cant take screen shots in the 3DS version, something the VIta is great at.

Sony & Capcom, sort it out!

I think Sony would be wise looking for Soul Sacrifice stuff, rather than chasing Monster Hunter. For the Vita to really take hold it needs a new IP that captures the imagination of the Japanese gaming public and an IP that eclipses the (possibly) waning appeal of the Monster Hunter franchise.

It will be a while before MH4 comes to another system, at the moment it is a 3DS exclusive but like other Capcom platform exclusives these days I'm sure it will show up on another system a year or so after its original release

Has anybody else been keeping tabs on Playstation Mobile? It's fairly slim pickings at the moment, but there's some real quality titles available.

Recently I've been hooked on one called Switch Galaxy. It's a lane switching game created in a similar style to Wipeout. It's wonderfully balanced, with lots of little mechanics to pay attention to, but it eases you in and I've made steady progress. The real highlight though, is the blazing speeds you can achieve::

I'm also having fun with a daft little FPS called Gun Commando. I initially played it on my tablet, but the touch inputs made it a woeful experience and I quickly forgot about it. Just recently though, I looked at it again on the Vita, and it's really clicked.

I don't know why but it reminds me a little bit of Painkiller. A really stripped down retro Painkiller, just because you can run through the levels at a fair old pace, and there's really nothing to it beyond clearing the area of bad guys.

There's been a few other releases which need no introduction, such as Alien Breed and Lemmings, which are both quality re-releases, but probably my favourite game thus far has been Life Of Pixel.

Life Of Pixel is a glorious little platformer, which takes you on a trip through vintage gaming history. Beginning with the Atari 2600 and ending with the NES, the game starts as a fairly simple platformer, and ends demanding pixel perfect jumps finished to a strict deadline. I've never found it got particularly frustrating, but the lure of nostalgia has certainly kept me playing through the night, just to see how the next retro universe looks.

I think the whole Mobile service is showing a lot of promise. As far as I know, the SDK was only recently opened up to anyone who wants it, so I'm hopeful that in a few more months, we'll start to get more regular new releases.

Soul Sacrifice sold 105k in Japan, 63k Vita's sold last week. Apparently outsold the 3DS.

Bear in mind that the SS sales are physical copies only.

I'm just hoping it can keep the momentum going through to next week. It's a good showing however you cut it, but what's next that can keep sales alive, and stop the sub 10k sales returning?

Yup Vita is Number 1 in japan and Soul Sacrifice is the number one game if you count the double pack as well. 7/10 of the top ten games are on PS platforms which is good for Sony. As Robo saysit now a matter of maintaining solid figures like that week in week out. I have a bit of a PS3 feeling about this I'm sure it went through similar 'dark' times.

If the Vita can change it's fortunes in the west it really could help gain some serious momentum.

Damn you Sony.

I won a copy of MLB The Show 13 for the PS3 today (on the PS Blog). So now I am considering buying the Vita version for the Cross-Play / Cross-Save. Also need to buy a 32GB card for sure now.

Giving me free stuff to make me spend more money...
