Playstation Vita

Um... it works fine on my Vita? Or at least it did, as I haven't fired it up in a couple of months and I don't currently have it on my memory card. But it definitely did. And that's the US version bought on a UK PSN account, on a UK Vita registered to the same UK PSN account.

Really? Because it's not given as Vita compatible on the UK store and I asked last week and was told it didn't work.

Just started Gravity Rush myself. It's lovely.

If you want free cheapo stuff on your Vita, Jetpack Joyride and Treasures Of Montezuma Blitz are both free from the store, as is Super Stardust Portable (the PSP version - obviously doesn't look as nice as Delta but still good fun).

ToMB would have been worth it as a paid for game, it is just wonderful. Better than Bejewelled.

I'll give it a go when I get home tonight to confirm nothing's changed if you like, but I've definitely played RE2 on my Vita.

I couldn't agree with this more. Probably the game I've spent most time on since I got the Vita at launch. I even downloaded it on my iPhone. Not as good yhough

Surely adding a 'force 60hz' mode on the hardware side wouldn't be too difficult? Amazing that we're still dealing with this stuff in 2013.

Technically it probably isn't an issue - the problem is that Sony might have to review their agreements with the developers of those original games to offer the feature, as it's presenting them in a new way. It'd be no different (for example) to if they wanted to add a feature to play Resident Evil in a film noir grainy black-and-white filter; you could do it easily in emulation but Capcom might object (daft feature I know, but principally similar).

Sony said this week that digital sales are bigger on Vita than PS3. Plus Ubi Soft said Assassin's Creed did 600,000 copies on Vita. There's life in it yet!

I wonder how many of those were bundle sales when it was included with the white Vita in the US as opposed to stand alone and download sales.

Anyone seen this exchange from twitter yet? (from neogaf)

https://twitter.com/...488818578620416

I think that might be a little misleading.

You've got to take into consideration the XBLA port of that was released months after the Playstation titles and by the time the expectation and reviews weren't that positive so I'd imagine thats one reason why it didn't sell highly.

It was also on PS+ which I'd imagine he's including in his 'massively outsold' figures.

As others have said, he was grilled about it on that twitter exchange.

Already seems to have had one or two other devs interested in making a move to the Vita, plus with plenty already in the pipeline:

Hotline Miami

Bit.Trip Runner 2

Binding of Issac

Frozen Synapse

Dragon Fantasy

Lone Survivor

Velocity HD

Machinarium

Rainbow Moon

Starlight Inception

A Virus named Tom

Vektropolis

Divekick

Guacamelee!

Luftrausers

Snapshot

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New N' Tasty!

Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD

Kick Beat

+ more

We'll hopefully see more and more take up the platform.

I believe Brian Proviciano is doing a talk at GDC about this subject, according to his twitter feed it seems. Link: http://schedule.gdconf.com/session/14236342/One_Man,_17_SKUs:_Shipping_on_Every_Platform_at_Once

He seems very passionate about letting people know how his experience has been on the various platforms, and that what was once true 4 years ago isn't necessarily true now (about which platforms are the biggest/easiest to work with / generate the most revenue / etc). He seems to indicate that his dealings with Sony (and Nintendo and Valve) were extremely smooth and not overly burdensome or unnecessarily complicated.

Let's just say that hearing these things has stirred us at zeboyd a bit and we're going to take a far more serious look into these things that Brian has brought up. :)

US PSN users (not sure if tenure comes into it) have all been given $10 to spend on the PSN store. As thanks for 'being a loyal customer and supporting the PSN'. Just check your messages, it expires on the 5th, so get a move on.

Valkyria Chronicles here we come! I wonder if the EU lot will get a similar reward. Anyone know if any other regions did?

Sony are really pushing the Vita to developers. I think they've lined up a lot for this year so it can have all the attention before the PS4 comes along. It's worth it just to keep the brand in the public eye and have developers on board for when the PS4 does come out.

Sony were willing to publish a Call of Duty themselves for Vita. Fair enough, it didn't review great ...but that's shows they're really willing to put some money down on the Vita succeeding.

They just need to make Playstation Mobile easier to find on the store and it would be a great little set-up

I am stuck away from civilisation for a few days, with my brand new unit, and wipeout , metal gear solid HD pack... and no damn memory card. I should have read up a little more before getting on the plane, but hey ho. I just keep fiddling with the settings.

I'm sharaku0209 leonidas0209 (catchy) on the PSN, and have a PS3 with Wipeout HD and Fury, and I hope to soon get a Vita (and wipeout). I'd be up for some races :)

Doh! sharaku0209 leonidas0209

A glimmer of hope, the Vita is now outselling the Wii U in Japan (not that that's saying much, but still...)

In other news, Persona 4 Golden is still amazing. I strongly urge those normally not interested in JRPGs to take a look. I find most JRPGs boring as hell, but this is really something different.
