Playstation Vita

My big(ger) memory card turns up tomorrow, can I whack it in and redownload everything? Do the savegames sit separately to the game files, or are they on the card too? Will I have to do some hokey cokey file management?

Just connect the Vita to your PS3 (if you have one) or your PC (you'll need to download the Content Manager Assistant) and do a backup of your old card. Put the new card in and then restore the backup. It's the easiest way to do it.

Japanese price drops: 20% wifi, 34% 3G

Somehow both models are the same price, I don't know why. It's only 1000yen more than a 3dsXL now, so quite aggressively priced

FFX actually exists now. Not sure how much of the rest was announced but they were showing God Eater 2 for psp and vita

Phantasy Star online 2:

The price drop will coincide with the release of Phantasy Star Online 2 for Vita in the country. The game will be available as a free download, and will be sold in stores in a packaged version which will include items, accessories, and costumes. A silver Vita model including PS02 and an 'AC1000' ticket (virtual cash for the game) will be available beginning February 28, for the same ¥19,980 price.

I got one of these today! What do I do first? I've got PS Plus.

I've also just got myself a Vita and have been very impressed with it. Only really looked into it after seeing my wife's godson's Vita - knew it was coming out, but had no real interest/knowledge of the thing.

Love that you can play PSP and PSOne games on it - have more of those downloaded that Vita games at the mo. Tempted to sign up to PS+ as seems too good not to. One question though.... I assume once you stop being a member you don't get to keep the games you've downloaded for free - but does that mean that you have to be online to play them (so it can check you're still a member)?

It's still a case of 2+2=5, have we had any more than a patent filing that Sony file all the time anyway?

That's all we have, but it makes sense, especially when the PSP had several revisions that added functionality.

That was just a patent for a devkit wasn't it? Wifi for me either way, tethering suffices.

I don't see why you'd need to upgrade a dev kit to add 4G if the retail console wasn't getting 4G as well.

A feature would love to see added is a full suspend and recover, where if you quit a backgrounded game to play another one you can restart it at exactly the same point you left off. I think the PSPGo had this (for one game at a time) so it can't be beyond the realms of impossibility? Hopefully in firmware, not a new hw revision.

Doing that requires a memory dump to backing store. Doing it for an arbitrary amount of games is pretty much not possible.

Well, even one or two frozen games would be nice. If rumours are true, MS is going to do something like this for the new Xbox. Which seems weird for a TV console, but whatever.

Seems like the Vita Heaven thing was an event designed purely to showcase the upcoming lineup and announce the price drop. Anyone who thought they were going to announce any major new software at such a low key event were kidding themselves.

What are the legitimately great PSP games available on PSN? Any genre. It wasn't a console I paid much attention to and I'm disappointed that the first three I knew of and was interested in - Gitaroo Man, Tony Hawk and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max Double Upper Extend 2008: Champion Edition weren't there.

Personally, the handful that sit on my Vita are Persona 3 Portable, GTA: Liberty City Stories, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, Pixeljunk Mosters: Deluxe and Jeanne D'Arc (if you've got a US PSN account).

I've read the God Of Wars are good too, never played myself. Also, if you're a fan of Gitaroo Man, you can get Parappa The Rapper PSP and Um Jammer Lammy PS1...not the same I know, but nearly as good. :)

I still have a bunch of PSP games on my shelf that survived my mass clearout during the Great Game Group Fire Sale Of 2012 - I should probably set about looking for digital versions of everything and getting the biggest Vita memory card I can find. :P After looking to see which of my physical games are on the Store, I can recommend Dissidia, MGS: Peace Walker, Metal Slug XX, Half-Minute Hero, Persona 3 Portable and Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX. :)

Hey Persona guys, I don't want to sound mean but why not post in an existing Persona thread or make a new one? There does seem to be plenty of interest in the game and I'd much prefer reading it in it's own thread if I get the game instead of scanning this one.

(some people have been moaning about lots of game specific chat in threads like this, and Persona seems worthy of its own thread)

Done - hopefully it won't get buried before the end of the week :hmm:
