This may sound like a stupid question but how are you supposed to control in Wipeout? Its all floaty. It gave the tip to airbreak at corners but it seems you have to be extra gentle otherwise you lose total control again.

And yeah, first Wipeout. Well at least it's pretty.

I play it like I play F-Zero. Airbrake and mash the accelerator round the corner.

Use the facebuttons for acceleration/brake, use L for airbrake left and R for airbrake right. Memorise the tracks and find a line that leads over the booster pads if possible. Use brakes a bit just before sharp corners to reduce speed, then use airbrake in the direction of the bend in combination with acceleration to soar through it. Make sure to let go early enough to prevent bumping. Try playing the time trials first so you can get a feel for the controls and the tracks without bothering with other racers and weapons.

Help please! I have just got a new Vita and I am getting the following error: NP-9978-3. Sony's explanation is as follows:

This message appears when system activation and deactivation operations are repeatedly performed within a fixed period of time. Please wait at least one week before trying again.

I have 2 PS3s and a PSP already activated, but I'm pretty sure this is ok. Anyway, I'm not waiting a fucking week to play all my PS+ games - does anyone have a direct email or telephone number where I can plead my case?

It was reduced from 5 PS3s to 2, yeah. That was a while ago though. The reason I say 4 is from the following link's comments section from November last year:

http://blog.us.plays...-take-the-tour/

Can you download content in 2 PS3 and 1 PS vita?

You’re entitled to DRM on 2 home consoles and 2 portables.

I'm pretty sure I'm below that limit at the mo.

OK then, just have him keep bouncing off the sides until he gives up.

I love watching my nephews try and play Wipeout for exactly this reason.

Seriously though, you need to learn the tracks. That's the only way you'll get any good. Air brakes to help around the tighter bends. I've never used the actual brake button, in fact I don't think I even realised there was one.

The PlayStation EU blog has posted another update on Persona 4 Golden with some finer details on the game; the "Beginner's Guide" title is a bit misleading as it's more of a basic overview of what the game involves rather than advice on how best to play, but it at least gives you an idea of what to expect. Hopefully we'll get enough discussion going between new and experienced players to answer most questions once it's released. :)

Here's the reason I never got into Persona 3 properly - I could never work out how much grinding I was supposed to do.

It seemed really liberating in how much freedom it gave me to spend my time. From memory you could go to Tartarus of an evening, rest, study or socialise. As it wore on I just got more concerned that I was doing too little of Tartartus in favour of other things, and that if this continued over six game months I'd be completely out of my depth by the time I had to fight a boss. That it would let you duck out of the dungeon at any point kind of made this worse for me - am I exiting because it's too hard, or is it only too hard because I'm not doing enough of it and I should be 15 floors up by now? And the days passing added an against-the-clock element that just made it worse.

I don't know how much anyone else can relate to that but that's what worries me about it, is there some formula to how much of each activity you should be doing or does it not matter too much?

I haven't quite finished P3P yet, but I don't do any actual grinding playing on Normal.

The social stuff takes priority for me, so typically I only head into Tartarus at night if I don't have much else going on. Once in I'll clear as many floors as I can before my team's SP gets low, at which point I'll get off at the next stop and call it a night. With that method I find myself clearing up to the next dead end well before the next deadline. Other than that I make a point of doing all the missing person cases — all on one night, usually — and occasionally make the odd detour to fulfil quest requirements for Elizabeth.

Having the right type of Personas in your party for the floor at hand seems far more important than your actual stats.

The way I play P3 and P4 is kind of like this - as soon as a new area opens up, be it a new set of floors in P3 or a new dungeon in P4, I commit the necessary nights or after school hours to completing that area. Outside of dungeon time I'll check the stores for new inventory or to sell any junk I've collected on the way, and in P3 I would even sacrifice time to rest if the previous grind had left me tired. On the one hand P3 doesn't really have the monthly time limits that P4 does and so there's less pressure, but on the other hand it still has full moon bosses, so building experience is still kind of necessary. That's not to say that my approach is ideal - I miss out on plenty of S.Link encounters by committing myself to the grind - but it works for me and usually only takes a few days. I'll leave once my team are tired (in P3) or the team SP is near rock-bottom (P4) so that I get the most out of the visit.

Also, are you perhaps running away from enemies or fleeing battles a bit too much? It's easy to do that without thinking, and it's always very tempting when you can return to the last floor you reached...

I actually think that's the genius bit of those games design, you have a lot of freedom in what you choose to focus on. You have to reach a minimum level of progression in the dungeon combat stuff, but studying to increase your statistics, or working on your social links to strengthen personas/party members all tie into that same progression. At the same time the game features measures to prevent you from fucking up by doing entirely one thing - through fatigue and illness, or just not having social links or the dungeon available at certain times/days. Not only that, all plot events take place in their own time, so you're never surprised out of what you planned.

In 3 it's quite easy to max out social links and levels, but 4 is a lot more about compromises - you have to work to get cash to get gear as well because resources are more limited and everything is balanced much tighter.

I run from nothing!

Maybe I'm just paranoid, and thinking about it now I can see that whatever you choose to do on an evening adds experience or value of some kind. I might try and get back into my P3 save if it hasn't been too long and give it another go before Golden, I was getting utterly ruined in Tartarus at the time but I never really invested much time in messing around with different personas, fusing or doing the sidequest stuff for Elizabeth.

Fusion helps a lot. Once the compendium opens up you want to be checking out shuffle time for new personae and grabbing what you can until your slots are full. Then you can book it to the Velvet room, register what you have and repeat. It seems pointless at first but it will give you many more options for fusion when you're in a tight spot later on.

It takes a while to get you timing right.

However, if you just want to enjoy the game and not spend hours upon hours learning the deeper aspects. Just move the sliders a bit on the Human Timing for batting and pitching, etc.

On another note, I picked up Unit 13 in the sale. My that is a fun game. It feels like a little like a spiritual successor to The Club.

Cheers, I'll try that. Unit 13 is amazingly fun. One of the most enjoyable platinum trophies I've ever got. Didn't feel like a chore or a grind for one second

If you struggle, let me know and I'll find out my settings.
