Would have snapped your hand off for some Vita Retro City Rampage action a few months back, but having now seen the muted reaction to the XBLA version, and recently sampled the delights of Hotline Miami.. It all feels like too little too late now.

Obviously if/when it's free on PS+ ill give it a whirl though.

I downloaded the trial for XBLA and liked it quite a lot ... enough to buy it, even though I wanted a portable version. So now I'll be buying the Vita version too.

Anyway, I don't really get the muted reactions. I thought it was hysterical myself, but you need to be an 80s gamer to fully appreciate it probably.

Does anyone know if there are any good games outside of Persona 4 (not a fan of that type of game) on the horizon? My vita has been sitting doing nothing the last few months and the novelty of playing psp games on it has passed for me. It's a great piece of kit and I'd really like some killer games for it.

EDF 2017's up for £35. Someone download it and tell me it's great. Or don't - my pile of shame's bad enough as it is... :(

35 quid is really taking the piss for such a shonky budget-type game. I paid about a third of that for the 360 version a couple of years ago. I know some people here hold it up as the pinnacle of gaming, but frankly I thought it was pretty poor after the initial "HAHA B MOVIE ANTS" stuff wears off.

Got it and played the first mission. It's a portable version of 2017, it works great and it's as fun as ever :D I don't think many EDF fans will be too disappointed with it other than the price to buy it of course. I really look forward to trying out the coop, hope some other fine folks here get it today so we can try it. From what I can gather though you need to complete all levels once as Storm 1 to get access to Pale Wing. I've read that if you know someone who's already got access to Pale Wing you can do the last level with them on coop and get access to her after finishing it.

EDF is the perfect pick up and play kinda game and it's the sort of thing really well suited to the Vita. Sure you are right, it's technicaly shonky and that's part of the charm, but it still one of the most fun 'instant action' games that you can get. No bullshit, no nonsense, just guns and big bugs to kill. It's a genuinely great game IMO and Insect Armageddon showed that lots of polish and better graphics etc don't make a better game as 2017 is better than it in near enough every way.

The thing that's great about EDF is the scale of it as well, which is what IA was sorely missing as well (and one of my biggest complaints about the game). On the big screen you have huuuuuuuuuuge fuckin robots and insects attacking which is cool as hell and on the small screen you have just a great pick up and play action game :D

I'm not defending the price btw, just the game. I think Namco are seriously taking the piss. It's just one of those games I'll make an exception for since I really want the online coop and Pale Wing.
