I seem to recall gravity rush not grabbing me instantly either. I played the first hour or so and when back to RR. I went back to GR a few weeks later and was hooked within an hour. Its definitely worth the time investment and it doesn't take 10hrs to get there either!

It's still my GoTY with NFS and sleeping dogs hot on its heels!

I'm finding some of the controls in GR hard to get my head round. Pressing O to use kinesis, why does it make Kat float as well? I find I have to press O then the left trigger almost immediately to get her feet back on the ground.

Flying around is awkward as well, if I'm flying along parallel to the ground then use left trigger to get Kat to drop to normal gravity she'll often end up miles away from were I wanted, or worse still fall down the side of a building, due to really long 'normalisation' animation.

I am enjoying it but there are a few things like this that I don't really understand.

The number of cutscenes seemed far greater on the Vita version to me, i think it was to mask loading.

In general i found the vita version to be a pale shadow of the ps3 versions. I think most people would agree uncharted 2 is the best in the series.

Uncharted 2 is the best game of this generation.

There really isn't much to be said for having a nice shelf / library of games these days, is there? Sooner or later it all becomes worthless :-(

Yep, this has become my philosophy over the past few years, too. I've gone from having shelves full of games, to having a drawer full. If it's single player and I've finished it, it's traded immediately these days.

I liked Gravity Rush a lot, although I'm not sure I would have played it as much if it had been a console game. But doing sheer drops and getting the anti-gravity to kick in at the last moment was always fun, art style and music was great, and I actually really enjoyed the combat as well.

I've had Uncharted for ages and finally got around to playing it properly. Not sure what to think- I'm up the Chapter 16 now- the shooting is quite good, but the climbing stuff just feels a bit boring at times, especially if you use the touchscreen as you're just setting a path and watching him do it on auto. And the touchscreen mini games are properly rubbish (brass rubbings! clean a trowel!)... but I guess the biggest problem is the number of cut-scenes. Constantly interrupting the flow of the game... I've not played an Uncharted game before but I had heard good things about them, but are the PS3 ones like this too?

I've not played the Vita version, but I found Uncharted 2 (the only PS3 version I've played - and completed, as it was the only game I had for a while) incredibly dull for the reasons you give - the shooting is fine (but gets tired after a while), but the climbing/exploring is dull as fuck, and while the console version wasn't by all accounts as cut-scene heavy, it made up for it with its whopping number of tedious 'interactive' cut-scenes. So, no, I don't really rate the console version. Your mileage may vary, but if the Vita version didn't really catch you, I'd be wary of the series in general.

I thought Uncharted 1 was good fun, Uncharted 2 a true masterpiece, Uncharted 3 a bit disappointing but still pretty good. The portable version however - the shoehorned touch/tilt controls really pissed me off. The tilting was good for aiming, but apart from that most of the waggle stuff was a disaster, with the balancing acts rage inducing. I didn't like it much at all.

I started Uncharted on my way to work this morning, and I'm really enjoying it so far. Haven't used any touch controls, apart from the charcoal rubbing thing. So far there seem to be button-based options for everything else, which is great.

I had a quick blast of Chronovolt yesterday. Didn't click at all, so I deleted it.

Lego LOTR tonight, though. Can't wait.

Ooops yeah I shoulda been clear... I wasnt referring to Gravity Rush specifically I was generally ranting about games that dont "take off" for x hrs so "stick with it"

I have it downloaed and will be giving it a good go...

So I got Virtues Last Reward yesterday and have put about 3 hours into it so far.

First impressions:

Voice acting is in Japanese with English subtitles, well acted and has the same adult writing (despite the cartoon presentation)

Graphics are slick, the 2d benefits from the vita's lovely screen and the 3ds escape sections are very smoothly rendered (only single rooms but nice none the less)

The graphics are not the point though, those who ,loved the 1st game will love this too, it is more of the same

A capacitive pen (any ipad or capacitive one will do) is a good accessory, for taking notes in game. Not needed for gameplay, touch screen is very responsive, or you can play 100% sticks and buttons if you like.

You can save anywhere at literally any time, mid conversation (nice for portable games)

Miner spoiler if you played original (on the box of game though!)

Although I think it went off a cliff at about 90% in, still so do most things.

Havent played 2 yet, altho i have it on shelf (thats how far I am behind!)

Uncharted went off a cliff at about 90% in as i recall.. around about the time all the supernatural shit came out, pissed me off no end that did. Endless enemies and shooty shooty action...Sigh, til then I thought it was a alot of fun

Oddly enough I let Tomb Raider off the hook and it does a similar thing, altho to be far it has a fricken TREX halfway through the game so not really reality based :)

I caved and bought it. Just escaped from the lift at the start and saved there because it was late. Going to play some more on the train home tonight.

Ok. I like it. I suspect if they'd used the Lounge puzzle room instead of the crew quarters on the demo I'd have been sold quicker. Interesting things are starting to emerge.

Well I know I, going to get negged for this after two months I'm just not sold on this handheld. Don't get me wrong it's glorious looking and comfortable but I think I'll stick with my 360 for home gaming and Wii U very soon and keep my iPhone for on the go gaming. I just don't feel like I have the time to play the games on it and it really feels like its a sit down and okay for an hour handheld rather than the ten mins I'm on the train befor switching stops.

Shame but there you have it. I'm not bagging it out just don't feel it's right for me and where I am with on the go gaming right now.

Have just bought Mortal Kombat from the US on Black Friday so may see how that goes.

Yeah Phelan. iOS gaming for the most part is perfect for pick up and put down play. This is much more like the PSP. Large console style games that demand your full attention. At least Sony this time are trying a bit harder. PS Mobile, Minis and quite a few other bits and pieces that work well on a commute.

I'm just pleased I have a decent length commute to work. Lets me get stuck into stuff on it. I just wish for stuff like the PSP games there was a way to save gamestate to the memory card so you could shut down a game at any point. I'd be hitting FF7 pretty hard if that was the case.

My commute is damned packed and its one hand to hold on and one to game most times. First train ride is 10 mins and second is about 20 mins so not really enough to get stuck in. I'll see how I go with MK but otherwise it's eBay time.

Yeah if your not getting a seat on your commute I can totally see your point. I pretty much get a seat 90% of the time both ways so I get two half hour slots a day + lunch hr (when I'm not playing PS3). I also get a few 'goes' of an evening when I don't have enough time to fire up a big console.

The Vita fits in perfectly with my gaming life.

Console / PC - Main gaming time, at home on the couch.

iOS - For toilet breaks, odd few moments here and there.

Vita - For when I have thirty mins, to an hour free, not enough time to warrent setting up for couch gaming, but wanting more than something from iOS.

Edit:

It's why I really like the pacing of Uncharted so far. Chapters are bite size enough that I can play one at a time, before putting the Vita down and carrying on with other bits for work, or needing to do at home.

Now I think about it I remember that, it's a similar issue to me with 2 to be honest.

And don't get me wrong, the whole thing is still very, very good.
