Playstation Vita

The problem is I'd want to tie the Vita to my main PS3 account, to which nearly all of my four years' worth of PSOne/PSP titles are attached - which is a UK account.

I think you'll have to if you already have PS+ on that account and want the free stuff? I may be mistaken though.

Is it actually worth getting? I almost bought it last night but the reviews aren't particularly promising.

Single player is pretty bare bones multiplayer is a good laugh if not a little glitchy. I really enjoyed it when I got it on launch and I just had 3 tracks and a few cars. Although I got to play with friends at lunch and the trickle of tracks and the release of the devil car as a viral were all pretty cool at the time but may not work out so well when you get it all at once.

It's ridge though the handling is spot on, bare bones single player, good online or with friends. A bit like CoD really except the price is representative of the amount of content you will get.

NFS:MW is rapidly becoming one of the greatest handheld racers ever made. I've played solidly for newly two weeks now. That's commute, lunch and half hour or so of an evening and I have plenty more to do and I'm happy to keep playing. Graphically it lacks a lot if the shader effects of the big console versions but that's it, the size of the world has not been compromised the day night cycle is there and the physics is great.

that's not to mention all the autorace shenanigans and competing with ps3 ( and origin?) friends on the speed point leaderboards!

It's perfect portable play (as are most racers) and has that one more race factor.

I highly recommend it to any one who likes racing!

I don't have a Vita but will most likely get one at some point in the future. Can I download these on the PS3 on my plus account so I can download them in the future?

Q: If I have a PS3, but don’t have a PS Vita yet, can I download the PS Vita IGC content to my PS3, and then play it later when I get my PS Vita?

A: Yes. As long as you’re a Plus member, you’ll be able to access downloaded PS Vita content on your PS3 when you get a PS Vita. Make sure you select “Download” from the PlayStation Store, and it will also be available to you to download in the future if you’re concerned about HDD space on your PS3.

"Automatic Updates: PS Vita will automatically start up at a designated time to download and install select game demos and game updates as well as system software updates and start standby mode upon completion."

Clever stuff...has to be in standby mode with no game running, but cool nonetheless.

Guessing theres no way to activate Plus via PSN on the web or on the Vita itself? All I'm finding on Google is via PS3 unless you buy a card.

Seems bonkers stupid, even if theres been no Plus function for Vita till now..er...in a few days.

The screen turned to black but the music was still playing in one playthrough last night (Lumines), turned off and on with things back to normal. Still, slightly worrying if it was the game or screen itself. Don't die on me, one day old handheld!

Welcome Pack is pretty neat for a pack in, the timers for the minigames being surprisingly strict if you want to beat the par times. Haven't checked the AR card games yet.

Edit: Also, can we play games downloaded via Plus without a connection? For abroad situations, etc.

Whatever you do, PS+ has to be activated through the PSN cart system but after that it's flagged as a extra service in your account. So when the Vita software update hits it should recognise that extra flag on your account and enable all the extra features automatically if you have an existing sub. Presumably they will also add a purchase feature to the Vita store. All the Plus features will require a system update to come out this week.

As for playing abroad, afaik your license is downloaded to the system and is still valid offline on ps3. Who knows if that will change.

Having bought Riiiiidddggee Racccerrrr! from PSN what with the sale, finding it fucking inane that you have to download everything separately. At the moment (I'm still not finished) that's 30ish times you have to slide through menu's clicking each individual car, track and song dlc.

It's even more nuts that the downloads stop if you stop from staring at your Vita for a minute/if the Vita goes idle.

What the crap.

Edit: I mean, they bothered to make a distinction of the 'Gold Pass' version. Why the hell not put it into the initial download?

Edit 2:Having closed and opened the PSN store, it doesn't display what I do and don't have, either. To test, I re-downloaded a car I have already, and it happily did with no error. Despite it being in the game already.

Edit 3: And yes I know one of the responses will probably be 'well you might not want to download all the song tracks, even if free! But that's not the point. The option to download what I paid for (a full game edition) should be there.

I think it's safe to say Ridge Racer was a failed experiment, but it's quite fun (once you've downloaded everything) assuming you just want a whooshing-around-time-trial-kinda-thing.

It would have been better if they'd put a game in it though, rather than making it some sort of MMO type thing.
