No LittleBigPlanet Vita bundle on Amazon. Poo.

Pondering to get a Vita. From all I've looked up 3G is still a bit pointless/only useful for turn-based games on the go? Is there any sign over the past year that it might be a more useful feature down the road?

The 3g ones have a GPS in them too. Might be useful with the map application.

'Might be useful'... sums up the 3G model to a tee! It'll never be useful, and the 3G model is largely pointless unless you specifically require it from day one. Who wants to pay £5+ a month for something they probably won't use? Best using the cash for a PS+ sub to be honest.

Still really enjoying cod multiplayer here.....i think it plays really well! Not sure what the grumbling is about. I get that that the single player is a bit tight but i mean i played it on hard yesterday for an hour and didnt get through the first map....

I'm getting an error downloading Alien Breed - "Could not download (CO-10932-5)".

Tried a reboot, but doesn't seem to help. The annoying thing is it downloads the whole game, then fails right at the end. There's a "Resume" option, which then kicks off the d/l from scratch.

Any suggestions? I'm running the latest system update thing, and there's plenty of space on the memory card.

I'm not buying the whole 'it's on a handheld' excuse either, it's just shoddy, especially for £45. Activision obviously knew they were going to slaughtered for it, which is why they've held it back from review.

I believe that blops vita is actually a Sony published game and even got one of their teams to make it.

Gah, Giant Bomb's COD review.

http://www.giantbomb.com/call-of-duty-black-ops-declassified/61-38542/reviews/

It sums up why I need to get rid of it ASAP. Even reviewers are having the NAT problem in MP. I tried to finish the campaign this evening but it was too shit to bother with.

I can't put this on eBay, the buyer would give me terrible feedback. The only place for it is a GAME store.

Sony Bend (the guys who did Uncharted Golden Abyss) are recruiting for a senior technical animator for their next vita project, rumoured to be a new Syphon Filter game. Apparently they believe they 'only scratched the surface of what the vita can do with UGA and expect to push the platform even further' with their future project.

As someone who both really enjoyed uncharted and thought it looked phenomenal on DAT SCREEN, I'm excited to see what they do next.

Sound, something like Persona, or even MLB The Show I am not too bothered about online for. Gives me options at the very least :)

MLB Vita is out in this country, but only on PSN for £24. VGP had the Canadian copy for $20, funnily enough it's a game I was looking at getting myself after really enjoying the PSP one and was weighing up the options of where to buy it from.

Boom, done with COD, finished single player in around fifty minutes. Managed to do one level in under two minutes. Bit gloomy for the old Vita- this was a game which should have dragged the masses over to the handheld, sold shitloads and set us up for a good few years of quality games, but it's just not going to happen. The Metro review put it best-

But the very worst thing about Declassified is that in reporting its failure we feel like we’re writing an obituary for the PS Vita itself. With next to nothing else on the horizon it’s now almost impossible to imagine the format recovering from this disaster. The PS Vita is an excellent portable console but the way it’s been treated by Sony and the other publishers has seemed almost purposefully self-destructive, and we fear this is the final straw.

In Short: This was make or break for Sony’s portable, but such a shamefully underdeveloped shooter disgraces both the PS Vita and the Call Of Duty franchise.

Ah well, back to Unit 13 then and fingers crossed that Killzone at least brings a decent FPS to the Vita. And Oddworld is still on the way, isn't it?

As an owner of a 3G Vita, I too can attest to it being pretty useless... although it is kinda nice that I can score attack Pinball Arcade or Montezuma whilst sat in the car in my lunch break at work. Even then though, I could just tether it to my iPhone and do it that way. It's even useless for the PSN Store, as it has a download limit of 20MB when on 3G. Good luck finding anything on there that's less than 20MB.

On the subject of Pinball Arcade and Montezuma, my PSN ID is Zio360 in case anyone fancies adding me?

Yeah, that sounds pretty spot on I'm sorry to say. Utter, utter motherfuckers. Just to get the game out in record time too! When in actual fact it got buried in the shadow of BO2, and was utter shite anyway.

The Vita is more than capable of a very decent FPS. I mean, even a 'Modern Warfare Greatest Hits' collection would have been preferable to what we got.

I don't know why people are worried about the Vita dying, the 3DO is still getting games judging by Amazon!

UM.

While I'm here - any decent bundles kicking around at the mo? I only really want Wipeout, Everybody's Golf and maybe Ridge Racer, then I'm just going to let my games collection be decided by PS+.

EDIT: I seem to have reserved one with LBP for £190 at Argos. That seems pretty good.

While COD may be crap (not played it myself, so cannot properly comment). I don't believe it means the end of the Vita. I don't believe that Sony would get behind PS+ for it if they didn't have future content to back it up with. It does need some original IP moving forward though, or at least original ideas based on franchises, not just cut down versions of existing franchises.

It should be a home for Indie games and 2D platformers, look at Rayman and how gorgeous that looks, for an example. Sony need to entice the indie developers to want to release on the system. Then the big boys need to also step up, variations on sports games for an example. FIFA, NHL, Madden, etc, they don't need to be full blown versions of the console games, they could make use of the touch screen and rear pad to create something very different and enticing for the user to play.

RPG games on this should be a no brainer, I much preferred playing stuff like Persona, 3rd Birthday, Final Fantasy on my PSP, rather than at home on the big TV.

Get more puzzle game on there, again things that utilize the touch screen, even things as basic as a Sudoku game, or crosswords. Cheap but there for quick plays.

eBook readers, strike a deal with Amazon and get a Kindle app on there, look to get things like magazines and newspapers on there, like you can with the iOS stuff.

What about HTML games? It may not generate software revenue, but having the option to play these could see people pick a unit up still, as it is an value added extra.

Also, why on earth are we not seeing much of the iOS catalogue on Vita? Work to get devs to port a lot of those titles across, offer them incentives to do so. There are some cracking games in that market, that could find a good home on Sony's machine.

It does feel like Sony have put out a unit with great potential and then decided that everyone else should understand how best to use it, rather than leading the way. They still have time to turn it around and make it a must have device for more than a core audience, but they do need to move soon.

The good news keeps pouring in (stolen from JPickford's Facebook): http://www.nintendo-...lifetime-sales/

3DS outsells Vita 46:1 in Japan, nears PS3 lifetime sales

Last week’s official Japanese sales figures are in and once again the Nintendo 3DS has stamped its authority as the number one games system in Japan at the moment. We already knew courtest of Satoru Iwata that Animal Crossing had sold over 600,000 copies but the hardware figures are just as impressive.

According to the official Media Create sales, Nintendo sold 187,077 3DS systems last week in Japan, outselling the PlayStation Vita by more than 46 times (it only shifted 4,021). In fact, if you took every other portable and home system and added all their sales together for this week, the 3DS still outsold them all four and a half times over.

Even more impressive, the 3DS has now hit over 8 million lifetime sales in Japan, meaning it’s quickly closing in on the PlayStation 3 despite its four year head-start.

I mean, 4,000 units on its home turf, what the fuck.

Oh god, the metacritic score for Persona 4 Golden is currently 96% after 6 reviews!

I know it's not the best indication of quality, but I'm even more hyped up for this now, having never played my unopened PS2 copy since I switched to HD consoles.

Got this on pre-order from VG plus, cannot wait!!! Only, I think I'll hold it back for Christmas to have something truly amazing to play.

I bought Persona 3 Mobile (PSP version for the Vita), but I haven't got a clue what I'm supposed to be doing. It seems like some weird dating game with monsters or something. Any tricks on how I'll enjoy it and maybe get interested in the sequel? By all accounts it must be an amazing game, but my brain kind of shuts down when I play it.

Do you think you're perhaps getting slightly too dependant on rllmuk Nap?

"I bought this thing, dunno if I like it, dunno what it is, tell me what to do, how to enjoy it because I want to buy the sequel, I think, I dunno.".

Really? Spend the time today you'd use posting in every single thread here actually playing the game and then get back to us tomorrow.

Yeah, I was a little like that at first. And these weird jap RPGs aren't usually my thing, but after a bit it just clicks. It's bloody fantastic. Do a little reading about it, and read the tutorials carefully.

What kind of stupid reply is this?

Thanks, it seems to be in its own league of weird.

I haven't played persona 3 (23.99 on psn 'lol'), but I too generally struggle to get my head around some of these quirky Japanese games (in fact I made a thread about it a few months ago), so don't feel like you're alone!

Having recently tried getting into Disgaea, FF tactics and Monster Hunter, I've come to the realisation that my brain clearly isn't wired correctly to enable it to quickly adapt to these kind of games!
