Stop looking at Metacritic.

A thousand times yes

I would say that, other than the genuine unsolicited opinions of 'real' people like those on this very forum, metacritic is probably the most accurate representation of a game's quality in that it features an aggregated score based on a variety of 'professional' reviews (which are admittedly subject to bribery and arse kissing) as well as user reviews (which are obviously subject to trolling).

You might as well say 'don't pay attention to reviews at all' and, whilst there may be some merit in that, it is a decent way to see whether or not the game is any good and whether you are likely to enjoy it. Obviously the system isn't perfect, but it's the best we have!

Problem is that 'professional reviews' tend to be bollocks, so having a dozen reviewers of dubious repute be thrown together to produce a rough average doesn't really work and gets given far too much importance. Reviewers are not the end user so their opinion is just that, it shouldn't be given any more weight than the opinion of anyone else who can write a coherent paragraph or 3 on a game.

the ps+ thing is a great deal

Gravity Rush hadtn gotten round to so thats free

Mutant blobs I have on my card alreayd

Chronovolt no idea but its FREE

And I have a PS3 so I get those too... I may never buy another game again

Piracy/2nd Hand/PS+ is killing the games industry ;)

What's the best way for trading in physical copies of those while holding on to your game saves for when they appear on PS Plus?

If the game saves to memory card, you are all set and the game should find the save when download. If the game saves to the actual game card (i.e. it doesn't have a memory card icon on the box) then you are out of luck.

AFAIK ALL Sony published games save to the memory card so you can get rid of the game now if you want.

I don't have a Vita but will most likely get one at some point in the future. Can I download these on the PS3 on my plus account so I can download them in the future?

Should be able to, unless they hide them on the ps3 store.

Excellent, with £16 Amazon trade-in for Gravity Rush and £12 for Wipeout my recent PS Plus renewal has practically paid for itself!

Ps+ is so good...but i cant wotk out the business model! (who cares etc)

My take:

If Sony have 100,000 subs average per year sub, that's $5m. If they give 50% of that to third parties, the third parties get $400,000ish for every month they have a game on the service. By offering up a old game they've already made their money back on, third parties can give a new project a cash injection.

Sony's own games can be given away easily enough. Uncharted and Gravity Rush are probably not going to be matched going forward for a while, we'll get stuff like Little Deviants instead.

Its churlish to complain about PS+ given it is the most ridiculously generous any platform has given to gaming but it is nevertheless irritating that the yanks get more games at once at us and more pressing to me - we only get the games that I have either finished or already own (aside from chronovolt - never heard of that before). Embaressingly I have yet to take Gravity Rush out of the shrink wrap yet - best get it traded in before the value collapses I guess.

Can't help but wonder if the Vita service is going to help the machine's software issues though - might sell some consoles but how many developers/publishers are going to be interested in a platform where owners get masses of content basically for free?

It really is up to Sony now. Sell a bundle like so:

PS Vita

32GB Memory Card

12 Month Subscription to PS+

for whatever price it should be (just not too high). Promote the fact you get the free games with PS+ for at least a year AND PS3 games too* and I think you'd have good hardware sales. Especially from parents who know that they haven't got to buy a load of extra games with it. Promote this heavily now and get the Christmas crowd in too.

* Hell, do a mega bundle that includes the above and a PS3. The Complete Package Instant Game & Hardware Collection

PS+ subs are already being sold next to the console and games now rather than the accessories, not much more you can do.

Well they could advertise it. Admittedly I don't watch TV much, but I have never seen PS+ advert. I proper enticing advert.

Hmm, anyone unable to connect to games on COD vita?

I'm not getting NAT warnings but it just boots me back to the main menu when i try and connect :(

It's little consolation, but I'm having the same issues - I can connect to games, sit through the loading/waiting for players bar and then get kicked back to the menu.

When is JSR out?

'Winter' apparently so any time between now and March 2013! I think it may be a victim of strategic realignment, basically filling gaps in the release schedule next year so all those folks that get a Vita for Xmas have some new content in the new year.

Has this been posted?

Sega Europe confirmed that Jet Set Radio will come to the PS Vita on November 20 while the iOS and Android versions will arrive on November 29.

EDIT: from Sega -

Thanks, that's useful to me! I thought it was my end but it's prob just a server problem due to load.
