I haven't imported any Vita stuff so I can't comment on the first bit, but Vita games are region-free... however, I believe that online passes and DLC are region-locked. This isn't a problem if you're not planning to do online stuff, but that online pass in the case of an import game cannot be redeemed with your non-import Vita, and any extras you want to download for the game will have to be downloaded with a different PSN account that matches the game's region. Apparently.

Cheers...im gona have to treat myself to EDF, I can live without add ons and DLC

Picked up New Little King's Story today - anyone in Continental Europe can be assured it has full English (picks up your system language). It looks like a fairly shabby conversion so far (the text is ridiculously small), but beggars can't be choosers on the Vita at the moment.

That said, for a system that haz no games, it sure haz a lot of gamez I want to play on it.

I'll be interested to know what the gameplay is like on this when you've had a little longer to play it. I was looking forward to this but if its a bodged conversion then I'll look at cancelling my pre-order.

Well, so far it isn't bodged (I'm still not that far in). It isn't a work of love and expert miniaturisation like Persona 3 Portable, and it betrays its Wii roots with some of the textures and general fidelity of the gameworld (and by God either I'm getting old or the text is bloody small), but it's still really nice. The menu and map are a good example - they're OK, and can be touched or navigated with the physical controls, but it's not entirely convincing and all a bit fiddly. But it's not a disaster either, and they do the job.

The character and static art is pin sharp though, that looks great, and lets be honest, if you exclude the PSP library the only competition is Disgaea 3 on Vita at the moment. I would say my impressions so far are positive. I liked the Wii original, but I never got that far in it because of the hideous smear-o-vision visuals, so even if this is still a bit blurry the fact it's all crammed onto a smaller screen makes it a lot more palatable. I only vaguely remember the script in the Wii version, (so it might be the same) but here it's somewhere between genius and ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US mistranslation mayhem - one of the words in the intro is just plain wrong, and quite often the script throws in very funny, possibly intentional, possibly not, turns of phrase which are quite charming.

Trophies (if that's your thing) look nice as well. Nothing stupid but a nice set to aim for, without all being hidden (like D3) or being ridiculous (play through the game 8 times!).

So yeah. Pretty positive so far, I'll post some more impressions when I'm a few more hours in.

Played a sizeable chunk more of LKS last night and a bit on the bog this morning. I still like it, but I am noticing more and more problems with the framerate and graphical hitching. The busier the screen gets, the more it slows. It's not really a gamebreaker - I don't find it an issue in Dungeon Hunter, and plenty of reviews said it was a big problem there - but it's annoying nonetheless. It does lend the port a sort of Full Auto/GUN first 360 wave of software feel to it. Fun, but clearly rushed or done by people without a good handle on the hardware yet. It's not universal, so long as the screen isn't too busy, or you're inside it's fine, but the game feels a little unoptimised.

I'm also enjoying Sound Shapes Death Mode. Is there anyone here who gave up on it? I've completed quite a few, but there is one level in particular I'm not sure I have the physical reactions/skills to do. I'm wondering if it's the first game I've played in a long while where I'm faced with the prospect that even with an incredible amount of effort I may physically not be able to complete it.

I lose my patience with Death Mode far too easily to enjoy it. Since the locations of the collectibles is random, you can't "learn" from previous replays and it seems as though you have to get lucky in order to win. It's a bit of a shame, since the rest of the game is good fun and pretty well thought out.

I actually think they're better suited, as you can instantly pause and resume. I've made far more progress in MGS3 than I ever did on the PS2, simply because if life interrupts you can put the Vita down and continue at your leisure. I hope the PS4/720 include some sort of Hibernate or Quick Resume feature, it would be a dealbreaker.

Alonzo - don't let me put it off. I don't find it that irritating (though it is noticeable the moment you go into a small building quite how compromised the framerate is) and generally it's entertaining and charming. I can't imagine it'll sell many, so it might be a lottery if it goes down in price, or ends up perpetually out of stock.

Is it exactly the same as the Wii version, then? I loved that when it was released but I doubt I would pay full price if it is just a port.

It's a great game though and everyone who hasn't played it should definitely give it a go.

I think it's a sequel, strictly speaking, but mechanically it's very similar and clearly reuses art assets and the like. Been ages since I played the Wii version though, so my memories are hazy. It all seems very familiar....

Street price here is about 28 quid, which I think is fair enough.

Well I got mine about a month or so ago now and so far i'm thoroughly impressed. It's been perfect for lunchtime gaming, or in the evenings when I don't fancy switching on the PC or 360.

I currently have:

Everybody's Golf

Rayman Origins

Gravity Rush

Uncharted

Wipeout 2048

Motorstorm

Not a bad game amongst them and a good bit of genre variety, i'll be adding Fifa to that list in a couple of weeks aswell.

Looking forward to a couple of good RPG's, as that's always how i've spent most of my time on gaming handhelds.
